In Massachusetts, former U.S. Navy SEAL Republican Gabriel E. Gomez announced Tuesday a senatorial bid for the special election to replace the seat held by John Kerry, the Democrat who is now Secretary of State.

Gomez, also a private equity investor, now has until Feb. 27 to get 10,000 voter signatures in order to get into the April 30 Republican primary, The Boston Globe reported Monday. He’ll be up against former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney aide Daniel Winslow, also a state representative.

“In my military career, at the U.S. Naval Academy, as a Navy aircraft carrier pilot, and as a Navy SEAL, I learned one thing above all else – serving others is more important than being served,” Gomez said in a public statement.

He added: “As I look at Washington I see a lot of unproductive noise and bickering, and I see two parties attacking each other at all times over every issue. I see gridlock, I see a partisan atmosphere where very few are willing to work together.”

I almost never vote for the incumbent. Which is generally a wasted vote.


Truth be told... I only vote when it's a Presidential election, and then I only vote for the President and possibly a Representative. I don't care about the school board or the judges.

I exercise my franchise by pestering the hell out of my poor representatives. My new congress critter walks the other way when he sees me walk into one of his events. That's the price he pays for gerrymandering.
