I hate the little bastards!!!

I have one currently attacking my poems "Connection" and "Carry On" because they both have an H and apparantly, my little troll asshole can't stand that fact. What a bastard!!

Yes, I've sent a PM to Laurel. I'm just really pissed and needed to rant about the stupid fucking troll.

I'm sure those of you who write poetry know how hard it is to get more than 10 votes in the first place. One, I had up for MONTHS before I even got 10 votes. I guess that's why it's so fucking wrath-inducing.

In the words of J., "Grrrrrr."

Poetry trolls are the worst. And yeah, it takes alot to get an H with poems. Most of mine that don't have an H have really high scores, just not enough votes.

SJ

I know exactly what you mean. There's a controversy about it going on over in the poetry forum, which I'm staying out of. Every week mine bounce back and forth when one votes are swept out.

Last week someone opened my member page and went right down the line, giving all my poems multiple one votes. I'm sort of over even getting pissed off about it now. Obviously someone out there is very petty and can't stand to see me on the top list. I feel really sorry for people with so much time on their hands that they sit around and worry whether or not I'm doing well. They're clearly miserable people.

Thanks, Scarlett & Sophie. It's just nice to vent and have some support.

Scarlett, I didn't know about this controversy . . . makes you wonder if some jerk just hates poetry or gets off on pissing off everyone with something beautiful to say. :(

That's the thing that really drives me nuts about it. I would just like to know the motivation behind it. None of the poets I know on Lit would do it to get ahead, so why would a reader do it? We'll never know.

Someone pissed that there's poetry on a porn board, probably.

I never thought of that. "Why isn't this about fucking! Where's the poems about fucking!?"

Ya know, they don't even have a right to be pissed. It's not like it's hidden from them or someone's trying to trick them. There are links that say "Erotic Poetry" and "Non-Erotic Poetry." Then again, that's expecting them to have some level of intelligence to be able to differentiate one link from another. Must be the same fuckballs who go looking for other types of erotica and "end up" in Loving Wives, all pissed off at what they read in there.

Ugh . . . some people can be such morons.

I was thinking that since a few of my poems are about cheating, maybe I've picked up a few Loving Wives trolls, lol. I've yet to get a feedback typed in all caps, but I hold out hope. :)

One possibility is that your success is threatening the standing of someone's favorite. While none of the poets would lowball to get ahead, it's always possible they have an obsessive fan who would. Some of lit's poets are just amazing and they have solid fanbases. Like any other celebrity, they cannot control who becomes obsessive about them.

I'm not saying it is an obsessive fan, merely that the possibility exists and it's one we don't often think of. I remember one case on another site I used to frequent where there was an obsessive fan with multiple accounts who dogged the heels of a particular author. Up voting her works and down voting the rest of the authors in the cat. The fact that such tactics apalled her never seemed to get through and the fan was constantly sending her long rambling messages telling her how HE was responsible for her success and asking for personal info.

People are strange and there are some who probably need psycological help. If you attract one, it can be throughly traumatic. As much being on his/her "good" side as "bad".

Thanks for this, Colly. This is a point of view that I know I, myself, don't often consider when thinking of trolls and their motives.

Poems. Shmoems
Just words, Inky drool.
Fatter
and fatter
until you've lost your place.
Then back, and cross out that adjective
insert that burning line.

But the burning line is the only good thing you've thought of in years
Poetry. Shmoetry.

psst, Applebiter: that's not CV, it's gauche, is disguise.

What's cooler than four CV's put together? CVIV. :D

And just how would you put them together?

Stacked?

End to end?

Side by side?

Hmmm. The possibilities are endless . . .

(And now I'm off to see about getting my own Chilled Vodka alt.) :D

I have learned that it's pointless to rant about the trolls because: (a) Laurel & Manu are already hard at work on the problem; and (b) it simply attracts more trolls.

That said, there is little more annoying to me than to have someone tell me not to let it bother me. Unfairness bothers me. It always has, and it always will. It has nothing to do with me or my ratings -- but instead with the system in general. (The crusader in me wants it fixed for EVERYONE.)

For the time being, the most expedient means of dealing with trolls is simply to report a bombing run using the links provided at the bottom of each page (under "report problems with this story"). The nastiness will be swept away. In a few days (or weeks), you'll have to do it again -- as the scum suckers are indeed persistent. They'll tire after a while and forget about you ... or move on to someone else who's getting on their nerves ... but they'll be back eventually.

It's a fact of Lit life.

There's not necessarily a "point" to ranting about trolls, but it makes me feel better to get it off my chest. ;)

There's an awesome quote from www.bash.org about this sort of thing...

"I'm going to become rich and famous after I invent a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet."

Fuckin' Trolls. My poetry hasn't been hit yet, but my new crop of stories was ransacked by 1's.
