Ok, say you're a really successful realestate agent. You're pulling in enough dough to allow you to live in an appartment building that has a door man, one floor decidated to a fitness facility, and its own parking garage in a large metro center. You're a man's man. You like sports and drinking beer and whatnot. You're single, in your early 30s, and have no alimony or child support payments. All your cash is yours to do with as you please once the bills are paid. You know you're a good looking guy and have an exhibitionistic streak.

What kind of car would you drive?

As long as it had a roomy backseat, a removeable top and a metallic hue to it, I really don't think make or model is an issue.

Same car I'm driving now, pretty much. A Firebird with T-tops. Maybe I would have a newer one with a bigger engine, or an older one with a humongous engine (a nice black 79 with a 400+ cubic inch forced air V8, oooh), but it wouldn't be much different from what I drive now (2000 Firebird with a piddly little 240 horsepower V6 :( )

A sporty Audi convertible or similar. They wouldn't drive anything overtly like a mid-life-crisismobile, but it'd definitely be a toy. A treat to yourself, whilst still keeping a veneer of professionalness. A Ferrari or Lambourghini is too over the top and makes it blatantly obvious that you're treating yourself, whilst an Audi or Saab allows you to pretend that it's a serious car.

If you want to make him richer, then the next step up is a Jaguar and the one after that is an Aston Martin.

The Earl

That kind of money, an Aston Martin Vanage V8, in silver.

IT has style, and elegance and yet still beefy enough to hold its own on a freeway and doesn't scream "small penis" like a ferrari or lambourghini.

The always Right Rev. Rumply strikes again. :D I've been trying to help Thee figure out what car he ought to get now that he's making the big bucks and he was trying to throw you off the scent. ;)

I must admit that is one sweet ride, Rev.

I was very shocked by the similarities, and thought TC was talking about me during parts of it :D

AndI also forgot about the Dodge Viper. If I had the money, I would so definitely get me one of those with a V10 powerhouse *drools*

Good call. A too obvious show-off car will scream "compensation" anyway. What you want is to look like you can afford a classy car, but you don't want to look like you're desperate.

I'd go for a good, classy, modern veichle built for comfort and good driving. If you don't hold back on price, style will follow. Check out the Audi A6, BMW M6 or newer Mercedes CL-models for instance.

If I were writing a story, and that was the description of a character, I'd put him in a BMW. Something in the five-class. I'm not too up on the latest models, though.....Carney

Aston Martin...isn't that the Bond car?

What kinda yearly net would you need to pull down to afford one of them puppies?

An Aston Martin runs about 75K for the Vantage and 125 for the Vanquish. So consider him making about 500K a year if he is in the kind of digs you mentioned in a metro area like Atlanta. I used to supply the computers to the leasing office at just such a place and their base was 1.2 Mill to own.

The BMW 650I convertible is about 90K would also fit the character well.

I think I just came. :catroar:

TC,

In all seriousness, honest, the final choice probably should reflect the guy's location and life-style. Odds are a guy in Boston would pick a different car fhan one in Dallas. And it's doubtful if a college-town yuppie and a guy into hunting and fishing would have the same taste in cars.

Think a WASpish type of dude who grew up with money. Not massive wealth, but plenty and being an olny child, always got what he wanted when he was a kid because there was no compitition from sibs. Location indeterminate, but definitely not a hunting and fishing kinda guy. City boy all the way.

Damn sounds like half the kids that go to school here in 15 years.

In that case the BMW 650i, hands down.

Our parking lot has four of them any given day.
