Another of my sci-fi Ideas

I'm thinking about a story set in the future, but not really futuristic in the Flash Gordon sense. The story is about a maternity hospital. The main character is a male "donor" who is employed by the hospital to provide sperm for inseminating women wanting children.

In the beginning I can see him jacking off into a bottle. But what happens when a hot little number comes along who wants the "natural" treatment?

Any ideas or thoughts?

Actually not a bad idea, you could start a new way of doing things and have more then one chapter. The new way would be the old way. Could be fun and exciting.

Well... actually I was thinking about a world where sex is taboo and no longer done. A world something like the Asimov "Robot" novels... but not that extreme.

Anyway... people don't fuck anymore. So what happens to the donor when he's faced with a client who wants it?

HMmm, Could get interesting. If he decides to go along and seeing that we are talking about sex stories he would, he would have read up on it or something watch some forbidden videos maybe. Do it while no one is watching, and would she just tell him or would she tell him secretly? I think it could be a good story plot, however you do it.

And BTW I don't know if this is kosher to say this or not but nice picture you got there and your saying is pretty tricky

That's sort of what I was thinking, Couture. A world like THX1138 where sex is banned completely and the "donor" simply gives up his sperm to a clinic where babys are created "in vitro". Donors are selected by their genome charts which are available to match for "superior human babies".

Ulitmately when faced with actual sex, there is extreme psychological conflict. Could he actually perform? Would the zygot be as perfect as could be turned out "in vetro"? Would he face prison for the act?

If you wish to go to that extreme why not have the Donor be of outstanding physical/mental characteristics. There could also be women donors of similar "quality" stock. Considering their superior mental abilities perhaps the male donor and one of the female donors begin discussing the "evils" of intercourse over a break.

You could write somepretty interesting interior monologues for the character as he considers just why sex is bad allowing you to breathe life into the world without having to write tedious summary material.

This hot number who wants it "the old fashioned way" could then force him to re examine his thoughts. Perhaps he gives in and finds out...Hey, this isn't bad at all. You could end it with him on break again, with the female donor discussing it again, but this time with his view changed.

It would provide a good Psychological element to the story.

There have been several sci-fi writers who have done this back in the 50's and 60's. None of them particularly notable.

Heinlein approached this to a small extent in "Time Enough For Love" and concluded it was a "negative survival" characteristic. Aldous Huxley did some work on it too, but I found it unremarkable.

No place can I find where this idea is the main topic of the story. I've only found instances where this is a part of the overall environment of the alternate universe the writer creates.

I think if it's a more "recent future" it would be better. This way the doner can still have memories of what sex was like. Like the woman propositioning him, he misses sex and that is why he takes her up on the offer.

BUT... Like in the movie Demolition Man, sex is completely illegal. The exchange of bodily fluids is strictly forbidden and punishable by jail, etc.

That would give the story some drama. The reader would wonder if the couple is going to get caught or not. If you make a series out of this world, like someone suggested, then one of the chapters could go into more detail about this woman who wanted a child "the old fashioned" way, etc.

I've been doing some work on this. I see this story in the near future say 25 years from now but I'll leave that open. Also I see a class system of the millions of tax paying workers and a wealthy, ruling upper class. Even though sex has been made illegal, the upper classes seem to do whatever they want including sex. The donor is, of course, not of that class but the woman is.

That gets me to the basic story. I have the protagonist working for a "Hospital" (more like a baby factory) where donor's geonome charts are reviewed for selection to produce different catagories of humans, ie, more workers, more rulers, doctors, etc.

That's where I am now. You have any more suggestions along these lines?

The next step would be to figure out how the "natural" sex occurs. I think it has to be condoned by the "hospital" for some reason. But I'm still thinking about it.

I remember reading a book along those lines way back when I was a teenager. Something about how women had taken over the world, and kept men as chattel, but not in the good sex-slave way. All reproduction was handled clinically, kids raised in communal nurseries, nobody knew their parents, family was unimportant and relationships between the sexes were totally forbidden. Then a man and woman fall in love and run away, sort of a Logan's Run kind of thing.

Yes i have it...it's set in 2069 where all men have been sent to prision for beeing men and women are the rulers....three ladies flying through space and they get sent back in time to experiance passion......and then they get back to the present and presumably head to the prision to fuck every last man!! so could be the sequal with a flash back......

OK, since the woman is Ruling Class, then she gets what she wants. The tension comes from the 'worker' who merely contributes sperm: this situation puts him (genome analysis indicates he's optimal - so selected) in a position where he has to have old fashioned sex, which isn't allowed. He's bewildered by that (he's gotta be < 25 years old, so he doesn't remember the old order). All he knows is putting his prick into the semen machine (I think a machine would be the then current norm) and now he has to put it into flesh-and-blood! Compare-and-contrast! To his knowledge, the machine gives the 'best' orgasms, so this can't be as good, but it turns out to be better: he can see flesh! Touch tits and a clit! Bring the recipient to orgasm! Yo, man, the received wisdom is wrong, so let's have a revolution.....

That maybe wasn't too explicit. What I meant was that he gets orders from his supervisor (another machine / computer screen?) to do it - so he hasn't any volitional choice - just to do what he's told - which is supposed to be illegal/taboo.

That's why he's confused.

If you want to write this, go ahead. You are completely wrong about the story, the motivation and the world I've already created. Also you need to be rather well schooled in the human genome to make the story work correctly.

This has already been dealt with. There is no reason to send all the men to prison and create an Amazon world. The inbred genome takes care of that. Sex is simply "bred out" of the specie along with a number of other traits that this society sees as positive, like self determination.

I applogize, fifty5. My reaction was way too strong.

After about 40 hours of work the first draft is already half written. When I asked for ideas I was looking for "actions" not motivation, not additions to the alternate universe I have already created and not character discriptions/personalities. Those are already done.

What you did was rewrite the story in a way I have already looked at an found it doesn't work. The problem with sci-fi is you have to write the alternate universe first along with the rules that make that universe work. The characters then have to exist, act and react within those rules or the story fails.

Sorry. It's been a shitty day for me.

This is where the story actually is right now (10 MSWORD pages). For reasons I won't go into, certain people were selected genetically to produce perfect offspring for a specific job. This the present, 2003. The experiment worked so well that over eons more and more jobs were filled by people genetically selected for the specific purpose.

The draw back of genetic engineering is that good traits are lost or destroyed in the process. These traits are social skills such as achievement, drive to excel and the sexual urge. Over time humans stopped procreating and the job was taken over by massive computers matching genetic codes for women and men to be created in "Maturnity Hospitals" where the zygotes are created from donated ovum and sperm, grown in "Birthing Tanks", raised and educated in something like boarding schools, then sent out to the work force.

The upper class are those who run the computers. And they are the ones who discovered that good survival traits had been lost. The Donor, Robert, is a product of meddling by the upper class. He's sort of a throw back to our own time. But he doesn't know it, because these traits are purposly kept masked by limiting his intake of foods contain Cycline.

That's pretty much the universe. Now the grand experiment: Does the meddling by the upper class work?
