I've read a few discussions on girls losing their virginity and stuff like that but I can't really find an answer to my question - is there a lot of blood? I kinda wanna be prepared for everything.

From what I know, it differs. It should be as much as a girl has on a period, which I don't beleve is to much to get scared over. But if a lot comes, something is wrong, and a doctor should look it over.

There might be some blood, a lot, or none at all. Every woman is different. It's not like a cut that bleeds continuously, and it's not like your period where it bleeds for days. It might be like when you unexpectedly get your period, a few smears.

*shrug*

If you're worried about it, use a towel.

I had a few large drops, but nothing remotely resembling a menstrual period.

Other women's mileage may vary.

It was definetely nothing to be scared about...We didn't notice my blood until later, and it consisted of a few stains on the sheets...Don't worry, it wasn't like flying through the air or anything :D

I'm picturing slasher movie scenes right now. :)

and i'm thinking of the shower scene in psycho... marion crane representing the pure virgin... penetrated by norman bates' very phallic knife. the whole thing's very sexual when you think about it.

I had no blood but I don't know if that was because I had been using tampons for years and had already broken the hymen. Can a tampon even do that? I've read even a fall from a bike can.

It depends on the individual whether a tampon can break the hymen.

However, a bike accident, horseback riding, gymnastics, cheer-leading and many other activities can tear the hymen -- often without any more pain or blood than the "spotting" like you might get a day or two before your period starts.

The Hymen is "designed" to tear and (usually) doesn't have a lot of blood vessels in it; it shouldn't bleed any more than a scraped knee.

As far as I know it is not at all unusual if there is no blood at all the first time. Like with all parts of the body the size of the ringshaped hymen differs from woman to woman. It has an opening to start with, otherwise no blood from menstruation could come through. The size of the opening can be large enough to not being torn (further) at first sexual contact, which does not necessarily mean the penis; can be fingers or a dildo also. On the other hand (if the opening is somewhat smaller) this means that a tampon could do the job too.

Have you used tampons, gone horse back riding, masturbated? If so and you are like me? Not much blood at all!

But if you are really worried about it? Just put a towel under you. Towels are great for all kinds of reasons during sex.

Fury :rose:

I guess I'm on the extreme end. I had blood just kind of smeared on my legs and thighs but I bled for 3 days afterwards like I had my period. I was a lot older than most girls, though, when I lost my virginity. I was 28 and had nothing inserted, ever, before that.

I bled a little, it was thin blood, like when I cut myself, not like menses at all. There was not a lot, maybe a tablespoon worth, smeared on the sheets. So it does vary, but I will agree with others and doubt you can expect a gush of blood.

My first time was with a women who was a virgin as well, we started going at it, the next thing i do is look down and see some blood, freaked me out. But it wasn't anything major, she just changed the sheets after we were done

Wow the slasher movie thing really helps my nerves, lol. Except I'm not actually that nervous. I finally got the pill today. :)

FurryFury, yeah I use tampons. Masturbation, hell yeah. But I know I still didn't tear it accidently or anything cause its still there.

Good to know it shouldnt be a lot of blood though!

sometimes women don't bleed at all! Or if they do, it's not noticeable. I never bled. But then, it might be because I started using tampons for my period, so perhaps that broke my hymen and that's why I never noticed any blood the first time I had sex.

You won't see large quantities of blood, if that's what you're worried about. It would just be a tiny bit. Nothing to get scared of.
