On Cape Cod the U.S. Marines have been running a Toys for Tots in the parking lot of K-Mart in Hyannis. They have been doing this for years and every year they have been filling the back of a large truck with toys.

Now these Marines are out there in their dress uniforms irregardless of the weather and they are always polite and friendly. My wife and I have always made sure to drop off toys for the cause as well as food for the Guys and Gals.

The year before we left the cape they were out there in some truly nasty weather. We got hit by another Nor'Easter and their tent blew away. They took refuge in the back of the Semi for the toys.

The day the storm blew in my wife and I were there to drop off some toys. We saw the conditions they were dealing with without complaint. They had no heat and they were in dress uniforms. It was cold and wet out. We drove home where it was nice and warm but we didn't stay there long.

A short while later these Marines watched as a Ford Escort slid through the parking lot up to their Semi. They started smiling as my wife and I started pulling things out of the back of the car. Three large thermoses of coffee. Two Propane fired space heaters. Blankets and wool socks. They really smild as we pulled out three large coolers filled with hot food.

We helped them set up the heaters in the back of the rig and watched as they dug into the food and coffee. We handed out the blankets and socks and watched as they pulled them on and wrapped up.

Talk about a great feeling as we left there knowing these guys and gals were at leats a little more comfortable as they tried to help others.

If they gave a Medal of Honor to civilians, cat...both you and your lovely wife would be wearing one right now. :)
