So what is it like being in love online... is it a disease or a good thing?

It can be a good thing. Just be careful...there are people out there who like to lie for some reason (sarcastic tone). lol

It can be both a curse and a good thing, all depending on the person your in love with online.

usually it's a good thing though :D

it's a good thing, if you're carefull, but nothing close to RL, though...

Falling in love online seems to be a lot like falling in love in RL: there are liars to beware of, there are pitfalls and emotional traps, but the potential payoff is pretty cool.

My old roommate is marrying (after a four year courtship) a guy that she met online way back in the old days of BBS hookups. She moved from AZ to IA to be with a guy she had only met at ISCA-nic, but had been talking with online for a year. It seems to have worked very well for them.

On the other hand, another friend of mine flew to MA to meet a girl he met online, and the fallout was hideous. Suffice it to say, she was not only nothing like she presented herself online, she was certifiable--and potentially dangerous to herself and others. Ugly.

But, I have stories on both extremes from RL dating and loving scenarios as well. Isn't that part of the fun?

Sorry I can't help you. It has never happened to me. But My friend met a man online and now they are happily married. So I guess it can happen. But like someone said before be careful.

IMO, it's a disease. It sucks. Even if the person is being honest, which you never really know, do you? Why? Because even if it IS a good relationship, it's not a relationship. You can't be with that person in the flesh when you need a shoulder to cry on, you can't yell at them when they fuck up, and they can't do any of that either. It's not real, if you ask me.

Friendships online can work...when you think about it, it's really nothing different than having a penpal or having a friend who's moved out of state.

Sorry just this is the only way to get my posts in my search list

Did I miss something? What are you talking about and why are all these old threads popping up?

Imagine my surprise, when I was coming to this thread to post (unaware at the time it was old) and I saw my name second in line?!?
