I've read all the blank thread posts on anal yet have a question I either missed or wasn't discussed.

I get the lots of lube and positions thing. And of course, never going back to vagina after anal without washing. The question: should we use condoms?

Thanks!

Personally I prefer anal with a condom ~ simply because it smooths everything out and for me makes it that bit easier for entry. It's possibly more advisable just in case the anal wall tears but I'm sure it really boils down to what you feel is best for you.

How well do you know your partner? If you are sharing a life together full time, long term, it's unlikely (but not guaranteed) that you'll pass something (new) to the other.

An exception might be if either travels overseas frequently and might bring something undersirable home.

Simple and safest.....wrap it. The most erotic....feel that warm cum flowing inside.

Are you fluid bonded with your partner?

We've always used condoms (with toys, too) because they make for easy cleanup and provide options, like vaginal and oral sex, without thorough washing (something like a baby wipe can be used if you're concerned). They also eliminate the risk of skin and urinary tract infections, and frankly, I don't really care for having cum in my ass, so we don't have any reason *not* to use them.

We use them...easier for cleanup, and like others have said, helps avoid issues with infections and I'm not totally wild - at least most days - about sperm inside my ass - it tends not to move out of me in the same way the other stuff in there does.

Thanks for the answers.

Haven't used condoms in a very long time. What's best for anal? KY or similiar still good with them?

KY isn't a sexual lubricant, it's formulated for one-time insertion, so it dries up quickly.

We've found the best lube for anal is silicone lube. It's more expensive, but you don't have to use as much and it lasts forever (like we're still on a pint that I bought years ago; don't worry, it doesn't go bad). It also doesn't have ingredients that can irritate delicate tissues or cause infections, and it's a true multitasker.

Short of that, a good water-based lube will work fine. Look for something that's long-lasting and you'd like to use for other things (so maybe go glycerin and chemical-free to be kindest to your partner's pussy). Babeland.com has some great info on lubes, though you can get the products cheaper elsewhere.

I had anal sex without condoms for 13yrs at least...very often. Not once did I get an infection. Then about two yrs ago I got an infection (UTI) EVERY time. Yet nothing had changed. I loved going back and forth and hubby ALWAYS would slip up and slip in the wrong spot LOL. Condoms seem like such a hassle when it comes to that.

So sadly we haven't had anal since

Back and forth from ass to pussy? If so, that's likely your problem right there.

Either way, it doesn't take much fecal bacteria at the urethral opening to get a UTI. Even lube dripping out of your ass could do it.

Regarding nothing having changed, changes in your immune system could be to blame for the onset of the UTIs. Stress, hormonal changes, dietary adjustments, other illnesses, environmental factors, etc., may very well have changed and affected your immune system without you noticing.
