Do any other authors here frequently receive anonymous comments that are essentially just insults?

First off, let me say this: I am always open to genuine constructive feedback. If someone tells me that my story wasn't good, and then proceeds to politely and objectively explain why, I appreciate that. It's the "Your story sucks, and I hope you die" kind of comments that I'm referring to.

Secondly, I realize that I'm putting a target on my back since I've posted a lot in Loving Wives.

However, I get a sense it's just a few, maybe even the same person, harassing me because the comments are always similar. And perhaps that's my true question to any of you who have had a similar experience: do you think it's the same person or the same few people responsible?

I haven't had that myself but I've seen it!! It hurts my feelings vicariously through the other authors. There's no need for such vitriol. I've seen the most awful comments on very normal stories like "never write again" or "good I'm glad that was your last story" or "what a stupid waste of time!" or other things that are so horribly mean and not helpful at all. I actually just feel so bad for any author who has to hear this on something they worked on and wanted to share.

Some people take offence to certain topics I've noticed, especially ones that threaten traditional masculinity norms - at least in the categories I tend to actually read on here. Femdom gets attacked sometimes but not constantly. They also seem to attack stories that have M/M relationships out of the gay category even if it is suited perfectly well to another category (like it's BDSM but happens to also be M/M.)

So I could see the category you mention attracting those types of people with very strong opinions.

LW is seen by many as the last bastion of heterosexual 1950s Ameeica.

I had a very, very polite comment (that also praised my writing if not my subject matter) saying that today. Then I’ve also been called a deviant corrupting good hetero folk with my evil pollution.

It’s not everyone there. I have had appreciative comments about both my lesbian marriage and married sex worker stories. But a noisy minority thinks that such things are only suitable for booking a seat in Hell.

You decide whether or not to engage with that minority.

Haven’t really had that but I did have two guys get into a political debate over the ‘real’ meaning of socialist because I used it as a genetic political party in a dystopian sci-fi story. Don’t usually delete comments, but these guys were special.
Try writing a Loving Wives story about two women cheating on each other with the same third woman 😊.

yeah. happens. there are some sensitive little whiners out there. as mentioned above, turning off comments is an option. you also have the capabilty to delete the shit, if you want. or, just say: 'fuck 'em,' and carry on.

I’ve got a story I’m working about two men who find a special relationship and one of them is a cross dresser. Maybe I’ll post it there just to watch the heads explode.
But… beware! Some zealots will take their disgust out across your entire portfolio of works. I was down to three Hs at one point, before a mega-sweep restored 75% of the ones I had lost. Not all mind you.

Gmail accounts are free. I could create a ghost account. Now, what would piss them off the most? Do you do collaborations? <insert maniacal laugh>

When this first happened, I did delete a comment... and can you believe what happened? The same guy came back and left more comments! That's how pitiful these people are.

It is almost a rite of passage...
The worst comment I ever received was. "You need a 6 inch nail in your forehead...
LOL...
As if he had a 6 inch anything...
What amazes me is. They log into a site designed to host erotic literature. Each category explains what you can expect to find within.
Then the crazies start preaching about sex... Hello... What did they expect to find?
I will second what @EmilyMiller said.
Once you have a little following group of haters. They will cross category's to 1 bomb you.
If like me, you don't care about the score, then have at it.
Whatever else you do... Make sure you enjoy it...
Have fun

I've actually always wondered how they got assigned. And I was being facetious about feeding the trolls. I have too much other stuff to do to go there. I'll probably juts stay out of their playground.

I've generally been lucky, my comments have almost all been complimentary. Based on some of the discussion I've seen around here that might be mostly category-related. Nearly all of my stories are in the Exhibitionism/Voyeur world - perhaps that's a kinder place than some?

I’ve had a few comments on some medical femdom stories I’ve written. All seem to be written in a similar way. Pretty sure it’s the same person.

A tbf they had some constructive criticism too. I guess the person just didn’t find them plausible, Altho one was based 100% on a real experience so I can assure you it was quite plausible!

But literally, all of the other comments have been good and positive, so I must be doing something write. 😂

It’s a category thing.

I'm sorry, but Em's calendar is quite full at the moment; I currently have her booked for beta reading four lesbian stories, three tentacle porn collabs, ghost writing two Loving Gay Husbands stories, and a partridge in a pear tree.

I think I may be able to fit you in somewhere around February 2026.

Deposits in advance. No refunds.
