Have you ever sent an anonymous gift to someone? If you did, why was it anonymous?

yeppers.

Usually because I feel they need a pick me up, but either I don't know them well enough, or I don't get along with them.

Yes I have. It was a secret admirer kind of thing. I sent this guy a carnation every day for a week up until his birthday. He went nuts trying to figure out who it was until I finally let myself get found out. We dated for a while and even though he did turn out to be a great guy there just wasn't any chemistry between us.

i've never sent them ... in all honestly i dont like the idea of anonymous gifts ... but maybe that's because i've had a small bad experience with them

Yes. A random act of kindness.

I have done it several times. One more than one occasion I revealed myself and ruined it.

It is not a compulsion. Though at times I feel compelled.

There are many reasons why. And it is not simply a matter of gender. Though, I will admit. My kindest acts are given to females.

Okay, but for the random acts of kindness, and the "pick me up" anonymous gifts, would you enclose a quite personal card and then not sign it at all? Or would it be clear the the gift was all in fun from the beginning?

Random kindness.

Windfall. Windfall.

No teasing.

It is as easy as pulling your neighbor's garbage to the street while they sleep.

They awaken, and "Lo and behold!" It is done for them.

Let it lie. Even Pharasees love their friends.

why do people have to send anonymous gifts is there something wrong in sending a gift to a friend or even someone you dont know so well and revealing who its from ?

thats only a question by the way im not saying there is something wrong with anonymous gifts in the right circumstance :) (another words please dont flame me)

nope

I have sent someone Roses before with a card and no signature etc but I called them too see if they got them. :)
I am horrible at keeping secrets like that. My daughters usually know what I got them for Christmas before they even open the gifts.

Hi sexy-girl...

To me it seems that whenever I send a non-anonymous gift the recipient feels obliged to send me one.

The point of an anonymous gift is to bring a smile to someone else, not to get something back.

I've sent a gift anonymously before thru a 3rd person. I did it as a 'just because' and I didn't want to be thanked or anything like that. I've also been the recipient of and unexpected gift. I never found out just who sent it but I still smile and feel very specia whenever I think of it.

It's the roses, isn't it?

I tell ya, I didn't do it.

But yes, I've sent anonymous gifts, utterly so, just because I was in the mood to reach out and touch somebody but disinterested in credit. Sometimes you just have to do things like that, it's a karma thing.

Okay okay - if you are going to obssess over this then I sent you the roses! ;)

There! Now do you feel better? :D

Yes, it is the roses. No, I still have no clue where they came from. And it really isn't the roses so much as the card that came with them that is throwing me a bit. It is written as if it is from a SO or very close friend, very personal. Just not signed.

Do you have any ideas, Chey?

I've given anonymous gifts, but I'm a horrible liar and usually will inadvertantly "out" myself. *shrug*

I like to feed meters when I see a cop getting ready to write a ticket.

More people should do that.

All the time, for the kids I teach. Many kids don't have enough clean clothes to wear, their only meal is hot lunch, they have no school supplies. I leave gifts in their lockers or their front porches.

Yes I got some beautiful flowers and never knew who they were from. Wish I did though :)

Wow you still dont now who sent them hun.
:D

On my way down into insanity I sent myriad anonymous gifts, nothing major usually some freaky picture I'd found somewhere, some just to people who's names I thought were amusing (the whole pigeon hole principle rearranged).

Was fun, hope it made people smile or at least think :)
