Annyoing situations

One of the most annyoing and depressing situations one can be in is when you're desperately waiting for something special to happen. You just can't stand waiting anymore (and the punchline 'Good things come to those who wait' feels like a dagger in your back).
But you have absolutely no possibility to take action but have to rely on the circumstances or a bit of luck.

A situation like that can surely drive you insane.

Do you know similar situations ? Have you experienced exactly something like that ? How do you cope with waiting for something that you desperately need but can't force to happen and have no influence on yourself ?

Do you just think the little Beagle should stop starting threads and go to sleep ?

That's when the words "have faith" come to mind, sweetheart.

Been in similar situations many times. Either it happens, or it doesn't, but wasting precious time worrying about it doesn't change the outcome.

I'm sorry if that sounds cynical...I didn't mean it that way. Several here who know the back story on that will know what I mean.

I have faith that things will work out for me, one way or the other, and that's the only advice I have to give you, love.

Worry is destructive and pointless, but it takes years to learn to cut it out.

Stop focusing on things in your sphere of concern and concentrate your energy on things in your sphere of influence.

Good advice from Stephen Covey 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

...but I accept its easier said than done.

Thnx for the advice so far. :)

I know that it's probably the most stupid thing to waste thoughts, nerves, time, energy, etc. on something you have no influence on,
BUT it's too damn hard not to. :(

When I'm anxious, I clean the house. The kids hate it, because all their toys disappear :D

(If they're on the floor, they obviously didn't want them)

When I'm in this situation, having absolutely no influence, I begin think about what I would do or how I would feel if the said situation didn't happen. This gives me a way to emotionally prepare for the disappointment.

For me, the situation of having no influence is much easier to deal with than situations where I do have an influence. It's the times that I have to make the judgements and decisions that I find much more worrisome. I'm always fretting over whether or not I've made the best choice for a given situation.

well babe.. take it from a sage old chick.. theres a reason for everything.. a lesson to be learned blah be blah.. and so forth.
im extremely impatient and hate to be in those situations but i know that somehow, someway.. itll all be worked out in the *end*

doesnt help any does it? so, maybe you should take LC's advice
sympathy and a stiffy..

that was what he said wasnt it?
