Though I don't watch a lot of Anime I am a big fan largely because in anime you can pretty much do anything you want plot wise. You aren't hampered by anything and you can be as violent or as sexually as you want in your stories and you don’t have to worry about things that would hamper you in the real world.


Tokyo, Japan 2020...International Military Academy

On an alternative earth in the year 2000 technology became available which allows interdimensional travel. Research groups began heading out into the great unknown and what scientists found was terrifying. One world was filled with creatures which are similar to the vampires of legend, and on another orc like creatures that are armed with automatic weapons fought each other in huge war bands. Another world gave a view of warring galactic space empires. Though governments controlled the technology dimensional invaders have developed their own methods of travel and have begun invading earth.

By 2010 the people of earth are united, but the planet is like an armed camp. Every nation expends huge resources to stay secure or they perish. The warrior culture has been reborn, and at any given time a large percentage of a nation's population is in the military or working as mercenaries. The world has many armies, but just one flag.

Now that you have had the history lesson this brings us to the writer/player role. You begin as students at one of the many military academies around the world. As in many animes the player is in their “late teens”, and is going to school to study to be either commissioned or noncommissioned officers in either the global army or regional defense force.

Players will get items and gear to help them as the adventure around the academy and maybe even other realms. I do hope for plenty of sex and violence in this campaign as students work to make the great and survive. As you attend classes you improve your skills as does your experiences. You are all here for your first semester. As you check in at the front gates you are given your dorm assignments.

Accommodations

Every student gets a dorm room in a barracks building that is three to five stories. If there is a need for more than one building for that particular theme an A, B, C, etc is added to the sign. The first level has an entrance area with a security desk, a janitors office and supply room, and the elevator and stairway to the upper levels. Each floor has ten rooms on two sides and a common room at the end with balcony or patio.

Each room's hallway door is fairly secure and leads to short hallway. On the left there is a small room with a desk and shelves on the right is the bedroom with a bed and a dresser. The next door on right is a store room and on the left is a full bath. If students room together which is encouraged there is another bedroom and a small common area near the entrance of the room.

There are still communal coed baths, but they have whirl pool baths and hut tubs for relaxing sore muscles. There are also steam rooms and other common bathroom facilities. There is also a security station on each floor and though it isn't manned a guard checks in regularly.

The Polar Bears
(A club for arctic warriors club who want to prepare for on war in the tundra. Gear provided with club membership and dues for club events)

Brandy & Cigars Club
(This club is for gentlemen and lady officers who enjoy riding, banquets, fencing, good cigars, and games of chess. The club has gone on big game hunts and horse racing.)

The Samurai Club
(For those dedicated to traditional martial arts and reenactor, and is a male only club.)

Battle Gurls
(An all female commando club for women who want to practice techniques for combat behind enemy lines. Air Assault to Sniper type training is provided)

Mech Warriors
(For those who love to build small combat mechs or want a career as a pilot. Join up with receive tools, training, and mech kits)

You can have up to three classes for the morning and four the for the afternoon. At least three classes have to be physical fitness and two military oriented

Your set up reminds me a lot of the game Rifts.

What weapon technologies do we have? Are there lasers, plasma cannons, etc... or are we still just on projectile weapons (missiles, guns, railguns)? Are there energy shields?
 
Whoa~ Sounds really interesting, I'm liking the concept so far, my question so far is, will we have to do large Paragraphs? Detailing nearly everything we do?
 
It does remind me of Palladium Games, but more like the Mechanoids, than actual Rifts. (I collect all the books, since the company went defunct.)

To my fellow Order of the Stick fan....

As to weapons, there are cutting edge weapons available, but limited. After all nations will be giving the best they have to their front line troops, and mercenaries have the funds to finance stuff. I will distribute special stuff among the student body, but expect weapons like assault rifles and the like, but special ones like the assault rifles in the film Starship Troopers. There are laser rifles beginning to be distributed though, but plasma weapons are strictly alien for now. Energy shields nothing for personal use but they're building them for facilities and installations.

Any other gear questions?

Btw I'm a big fan of the old Pen and paper Rifts game. In this case the earth hasn't fallen apart like it has in the Rifts' universe, but if you don't fight hard it could.

Yeah, I barely got to play it a few years ago. DM disappeared after 2 sessions, stopped returning phone calls. Everyone was pissed about that. Gets us hooked, then bales. Bastard.

Don't suppose I could adapt my old character...a rouge shemarrian warrior... (gives puppy eyes)

Loved the book they just put out about them, even if it did completely destroy my character's driving motivation, and had little in common with the background for them that I cooked up for her.

But Thomas is not very strong in magic separately from technomagic, the only magic he's strong in is construction magic, which is called Golem Making, other then that he cannot even cast a regular light spell, thus he focuses on the aspects of technology and technomagic as it's there he truly shines.

Piece of Racial Information

The Drakkons are a race of intelligent beigns capable of the use of both magic and technology, they are one of the few Technomagical species, a specie who uses magic in regular technology, they do not just use technomagic but they also use technology and magic separately. But while they are very advanced in these fields so were they just about regular 21st century technology until their contact with mankind helped them develop their technology even further.

The planets of the Drakkons are about seven in total, their entire solar system and four planets in a neighboring solar system, the different types of Drakkons live on different environments as they prefer different places to live, Red Drakkons live in mountains, preferable volcanoes, Blue Drakkons live in deserts, Green live in marshes and forests, Black live in marshes, old ruins and by the shores, Gold live in grass filled valleys in the mountains, Silver live in the cold north, Whites live in the artics and in the mountains, and many other Drakkons live in different places. But as they grow larger in numbers they have to expand their territories to survive and thus they colonize planets, lifeless or not, but no intelligent life, and make new homes for their growing people.

Mankind is a close allies of the Drakkons and they trade their technologies between each other to help each other evolve and become stronger in both magic and technology. Some Drakkons are experts on magic but bad with technology, while some are good with technology but lousy with magic.

In Thomas' case is he lousy in magic but an expert in technology and technomagic.

NOTE: Drakkons of different colors have different kinds of self defense systems from their days before technology and magic. They gather different chemicals in their stomachs or specific glads in their bodies to produce a breathe weapon of sort, though they have devolved this ability and they can nowadays only spit said breathe weapon. Black Drakkons like Thomas gather acid in their stomach and spit it out like an acid projectile, but ti is bothersome to restore the amount of acid they use so they rarely use their acid weapon at all outside of emergencies.

Yeah, I barely got to play it a few years ago. DM disappeared after 2 sessions, stopped returning phone calls. Everyone was pissed about that. Gets us hooked, then bales. Bastard.

Loved the book they just put out about them, even if it did completely destroy my character's driving motivation, and had little in common with the background for them that I cooked up for her.



Ok....can't be an exact copy and she can't be 8' tall, but a humiod Amazon is very do able. So tell me a little about her culture....and you can post your thoughts too in character form. Maybe an alien group that has settled on earth and work as mercenaries and your attending school. Lone survivor of a warrior race who settled on earth...up to you.
 
Your right he does seem like much, but he does seem like a lot of fun, so I have a few suggestions for changes and it is a go. First your not American, but rather a visitor from another world. You've come to earth to study, perhaps your from an allied or friendly realm and you wish to live on earth. You can fly, but let's say your 6'2". Also your from a dragon like alien race. I like your character a lot and hope you're willing to make the changes to fit my vision of the thread which is largely sci-fi.

Nice job....a dragon goes to college....I will give you your items shortly.

Three characters ready to go so far....excellent. Campus life will be a lot of fun. I'll add more details soon about the school and what you can all be up to. I have a plot, but we'll all be enjoying campus life. Need more men and women though....I don't mind being a cast of thousand, but I love to see what roleplayers come up with.
 
I'm going to say the shemarrians are a real race, from a very heavy grav planet (2 earth gravities), with very large and very hungry predators. She'd be a cybernetically augmented woman. She was on her first solo patrol with her Monst-Rex when they got caught in a dimensional anomaly and dropped of in Japan. She's offered her services to Japan (medical tests, studying her technology, and services as a warrior) in return for help finding her way home. She's at the academy to help her assimilate with her new comrades and study their tactics and hardware.

I'm working on adapting her, but figured I'd give you my general gist for adapting her story while I work on it.

How about I join a club called Tech Commandos; A club of commando like soldiers who have skills not only with warfare, fighting and driving through different terrains and do a lot of damages with gurilla style battle tactics and much more, who also focuses on technology like mechas, robots, chemistry, explosives and such things. Each commando has a field of technology he focuses on specifically. In Thomas' case is he focusing on automatos, robots/golems that either acts as soldiers or as vehicles, but he's also good with other fields of technology, he's bit of an inventor.

And as for a dorm would I like to join the Commando/Commanders Dorm, or the C.C. Dorm as it is called. Hehe.

Monst-Rex is that "animal full conversion cyborg" the shemarrians always ride. Well, at least until Shemarrian Nation came out, but it remained the premiere mount for them. Have you read Shemarrian Nation? I have it and would like to use somethings from it.

As for adding my own flavor, back in 2005 when I played my original shemarrian, I cooked up my own history for them. Right now, I'm incorporating some ideas from the book that I liked. And then of course for this, make the tweak about them being from a heavy grave planet instead of having that flesh that could take Mega Damage hits.
 
I don't see why there can't be a commando dorm. As to the club you mentioned I could see there being a combat engineer club or a commando one, but if you want one like you describe I think you might have to found it yourself. I'm sure there are engineer and science clubs around already though.



No I haven't read Shemarrian Nation since I'm not currently in any Rifts games. I'm playing some Horror and some old school D&D as of late. Anyway. I think you can bring in your character just write her up like the others have and I will give it a look.

I'm not in any either, I just bought it out of curiosity and my old character. Only Rifts book I own. Good read. I'm working on her right now in Word, I'll probably have her up by tonight.
 
How about a Warfare Club, for those who wish to learn different ways of strategies, types of warfare and the likes. Like teaching someone psychological warfare while getting taught chemical warfare, teching how to get a smal lteam of commandos into a secure base, take out the security systems, the turrets, the commander and then glow up the gates andi nthe confusion leave the rest for the coming army to take care of. Whiel getting information on how to move space units in space for best strategic advantage, to use stealth units, bombers, fighters ,battle ships, supports and other space units in the best way and to lose as little people as possible.

Would that do?
