Yep, about 2 weeks ago she had me show her 3 chords on my old six string, (steel strings) and she has practiced every day/night since. We just went downtown and she picked up a chord book that is basic yet very comprehensive.

She is developing callouses already and is steadily getting more mobile changing from one chord to another, due to her regular practice and gentle goading from her teacher. Like all beginners, she is in that painful period in which her fingertips hurt like crazy, but she perserveres and has gone from blisters to raw skin and now the very start of pads on her paws, which allows her to expand her length of practice time.

I have known for many months that she had the music in her,(understatement) and its very rewarding to see her improve by leaps and bounds with each new day.

Way ta go sweetheart, I am in awe of your tenacity.

Ow.
Been there, done that, still didn't learn how to play.
Here's to hoping Angeline has some patience practcing than I did. :)

She just added C Major and A minor to her growing list of relative chords. Haha, she is taking a nap now and resting those digits.

Nice to see you BTW. And, yes, she is very patient.

:)

The other night she was "jammin" with my ten year old son, who is also learning from the old geezer.

I smiled uncontrollably as they worked out a tune together.

I've always heard music in my head. I dream music every night pretty much, but I never learned to play an instrument--we couldn't afford lessons when I was a kid and then I decided I was too old (at about 20 lol).

The cool thing about trying to compose is that I can play different chords until I hear what I want--and if what I want is something I don't know the chord for yet, I hand the guitar to eagleyez and he figures it out.

He's very handy to have around, that guy. :D

always playing a song in my head..when I was just a wee lass...I was given a small piano..and started taking lessons ..from a very angelic soul..from the old school...'but, then my dad returned from germany...and I played my first lesson for him...he...
proceeded to smash my piano into bits and threw me against the wall and told me never to play again...and it really blocked my gifts as a musician in the itteration....
but, I still have the beat...and the songs...my compliments sweetie..never give up your dreams...you are beautiful...

Jeez, did he go a tad nuts in Germany? That's just wrong.

Well, self expression takes on many forms. Seems as though you know this well.

I have just in recent years learn that poetry is music...through..my guides and such...
my self imposed block ...can not be undone this round...but, I still can learn to voice my music through poems...thats why am learning to let go and flow the music from my mind even if...its not what some deem standard...I strive to be different and I never want to be a clone like neo con poets I have watched unable to voice their views..hell we all croak...shit...just relax...say what you what...cause in the end...its all about the "ME"and that is in itself..an epic... in us all..*****s a bitch//

You in there?

he asks, twangs
my first raw note
to flutter skin awake,
lift lash like spideweb.

Twang

Yeah baby. Always.
Here

in current rage
where rhythm pulses
under a glass lake,
where I am never still.

In here. Closer. Right in here

you play it like I want to know you
deep inside the smolder of these thighs
that bait your gaze and cling in sighs
murky with sacrificial ooze, pools
enough to swallow you in woman
sorrow drowned in restless seas of blues.

Come close as a whisper, take care
of this rocking rock of ages
with its secret heart of song
as slow and sweet and true
as every heartbreak
every woman ever knew.

Ask Etta. She'll tell you
that women bleed
the bluest blue.

I'm so sorry Blue. My experience was so different. My Dad played in a jazz band at Univ of New Hampshire and on cruise ships to Panama during the summers. We grew up listening to jazz wailing and classical in the background (when Mom got a chance at the stereo). I, however, couldn't play a note. First with his clarinet, and then when I stomped my feet with his sax, I wore out a dozen music teachers. All to no avail. So I have to bring the music in me out in words too. Keep on, kid. The best will out- it always does!

Well done Ange :rose:

Keep it up! I played when I was about 11, started getting good and then I gave it up. I've always regretted not sticking with it, I could have been really good but now I can't remember a single chord.

Play through the pain lol, it's worth it in the end. :)

Keep going. :rose:
