Before you say she can't, she already did and was willing to pay the ultimate price.

How An American F-16 Pilot Was Given A Kamikaze Mission On Sept. 11

One of the first two U.S. combat pilots in the air on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001 took off from Andrews Air Force Base in an F-16 with a mission to bring down United Flight 93 — and without any missiles or ammunition.

“We wouldn’t be shooting it down. We’d be ramming the aircraft,” Lt. Heather “Lucky” Penney said describing her orders to The Washington Post. “I would essentially be a kamikaze pilot.”

The fourth recently identified hijacked plane appeared to be on a heading for Washington, and there was no time to arm the base’s fighter aircraft before Penney and her commanding officer took off to intercept the rogue Boeing 757 passenger plane.

“We had to protect the airspace any way we could,” Penney said.

Females need to stay at dental assistants school.

Makes no sense to ram an airliner when your missles work ok.

Flying a jet and going into a house after someone and more often than not several someone's spraying AK/PKC and RPG rounds at you aren't really the same thing.

It's the ground pounder roles they want for promotion points but can't get without dropping the physical standards to "can't do the job" levels that are causing a ruckus. Girls flying? No problem...girls thinking they have a RIGHT to wear a SEAL trident, Ranger/SF tab or some other cool kid achievement without doing the same work as their class mates because their vagina? Problem...

Want to be a bad ass? Fine I don't think any of the modern SOCOM teams would give a fuck about what's between anyone's legs as long as they perform.

72 perfect push-ups in less than 2 min, 86 sit up's in under two min and after that you got 12 fucking min to run 2 miles or you're going home a failure before you even get to apply.

THAT is what the girls want to change...it's too fucking hard for them to even get an application into any of these schools and it's not fair only boys get to be "Special Forces" girls deserve to wear green berets too and should only have to do 19 push up's to get it because they are girls and deserve special treatment.

Because so much equality.....HAHAHAHAHA

A bit off topic...but how the hell can you not have armed aircraft ready to respond to a Washington DC airspace threat? Someone's fat ass should have been court martialed for that one.

Agreed. I thought much the same upon reading the story.

On the morning of 9-11-2001 there was NOT ONE armed and fueled USAF fighter on the ready line in the entire Eastern Seaboard...it took almost two hours for the Air Force to get one armed and in the air.

*shakes head* Absolute Stupidity...putting it mildly.

All points about the absurdity of compromising physical requirements in public service jobs that require uncompromising physical superiority are well taken, but it seems to me that Lt. Penny displayed all the "right stuff" I would want in the mind and motivation of a combat pilot.

Good on her.

She' kicked ass no doubt.

You know... I've known several people in the military, and tho it's not my thing, because I am weak-ass, I've never heard one bitch about women in combat. That they bitch about is apparently the standards are different for women and they think it needs to be standardized. Even the women talk about that as something that needs to be addressed. I think bot was explaining that a little better as to what the differences were, but I've never understood why they exist. It's not like women can't meet the male requirements.

The title of the thread just threw me off because I've never in my life heard someone say, "women shouldn't serve" just "the standards should be the same".
