I was driving home from work today and heard the song "Whip It" on the radio (sorry, don't remember the name of the band. I'm sure some music trivia buffs here will remind me.)

Does anybody else look back on music like that and wince with that "I just drank curdled milk" expression on your face and wonder to themselves, "what was I thinking when I liked that?"

Is it Whip It that sucks or is it just me?

Wait! Don't answer that... ;)

i believe that it was devo that sang whip it. and i kinda like that song. to be honest, i think the 80's had a lot of good music. but that was the music of my childhood, and with parents in their teens, it was all i knew. music today just isnt as fun.

The band was Devo aka "the guys with the flower pots on their heads." I liked Devo & have major party memories of that song. Was "Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb from the 80's-hated him, hated the song. There are probably others, but for the most part, I loved the 80's-big hair & all.

Don't get me wrong. I love a lot of 80's music, but there was some really terrible stuff too (just as there is today). It's just that at the time I didn't realize it. I just look back on some of it today like...

well, like I'm sure the 12-year old fans will look back on N'SYNC in about 20 years. ;)

Easy choice: Mickey by Toni Basil. And the Spanish Language version - beyond belief!

I would almost have to agree on "Mickey", did people really bounce around like that-I'm sure I did, but can I blame it on the Kamikazees? I think the 80's is an era that will long be remembered, the good, the bad & the spandex.

Good call, RonG! And remember the video??? Yikes! I think it cost about $10 to produce and oh, the cheeze! It pains me to even think about it now. the horror!

Oh but have you seen Smithers off of the Simpsons doing whip it? omg it is great

I too don't like whip it, but another of my least favorite was Dancin' on the ceiling by Lionel Richie I think that song sucked. Some of you may not agree but I really disliked that song immensly.

Yall are going to kill me for this one

I HATED "Hotel California"! Don't know why, don't really care. All my friends love(d) if. Maybe this helps explain my signature??

Turkeys.....

Anything by the Eagles....sorry just that they bored the hell outta me...could hear them blasting out of every trailer park in our little town.

Or anything by Wham or Culture Club (Damnit though, Boy George looked better than a lot of women I knew)

I am sure there are plenty of others....my memory is not so good anymore(a blessing maybe?)

NO NO NO YOU ARE ALL WRONG!!!

What about "Come on Eileen" by Dexies Midnight Runners?

What the hell is that song about???

We're supposed to be ther in 10 minutes!!!

Actually I think that was written about his girlfriend/wife who was habitually late...

Him: Eileen! Let's go!

Eileen: Which dress the blue one or the black one?

Him: The blue one for Chrissakes now can we get going?

Eileen: So why dontcha like the black one?

Him: OK then wear the black one. Whatever!

Eileen: You just don't care! *pouting*

Him: Go naked if ya want....it's just an office party!

Eileen: You would like that wouldn't you? OK I'll wear the red dress......now which shoes?

Him: ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH! Come on Eileen!

Or maybe they just did the "pull and pray" method of birth control ;)

had to have a smartass comment for that one didnt ya

Damn the bunny oh well hes cute, ill let it slide, this time, next time you owe me sexual favors!!

i don't remember the 80's music much, except for the good stuff...

please tell me you mean N*Suck? *throwing rotting veggies at the lame ass boy band... drags the slimestreet boys onstage and continues to plet them with garbage dump rejects*

Gotta see if I have the means to pay!

Oh yeah....I suppose you could say I am a man of "means"! hehehehe

Of course you could fall on "hard" times Hunny....

Can I pay in advance....cause ya know I can't help being a smartass....

*thinking yeah Hunny keep posting! I remember what ya said I get when you make guru!*

Whip it ... whip it good ...

WTF ... ok you guys .. i used to LIKE Come on Eileen .. well .. I mean Dexy's Midnight Runners were these cool Irish guys weren't they???? they looked cool in their video ..

*not being able to grasp the concept of what Senora managed to blurt out about Hotel California .. no .. no .. i must have heard wrong*

and i don't care what anybody says .. george michael has a nice bum .. :)

"I ran" by Flock of Seagulls. And those haircuts too, ::::::shudders::::::

Tiffany the Mall Queen utterly stanked. Anything she put out was icky nasty. I'd rather be forced to listen to the macarena a bazillion times wrapped in a straight jacket and duct taped to a hand truck with a ball gag in my mouth to drowned out the screams. I know all the words :D

aw come on guys, i really like all the songs everyone listed. even Mickey. i will have to agree that all the videos mentioned were kinda lame, but they had nothing to build on. they were the video era. as far as NSYNC goes...i was a New Kids fan...but i will never admit that to anyone else.

Lethal

Well...

Andy Gibb released "Shadow Dancing" in 1978, so it doesn't fit here. Sorry...

Of course, the worst song of the '80s would've been a country song.... Just pick one, doesn't matter which... Cause they all fucking suck....

Now, if you're referring to what seems to be commonly referred to as "'80s" music these days (you know, that post New Wave Top 40 sound), then on the sperm of the moment I'd have to say, uhhhh..... that I'm drawing a blank. I'll get back to ya when it pops into my head.
