Most of the western world's political and business elite are plugged into an internationalist agenda of interconnectedness and interdependence. A degree of this is OK but Trump represents the silent majority that doesn't want to go to far down that road. This border wall with Mexico is just one measure of reassuring Americans that their territory is secure. We all like to feel our territory is secure, its why we lock our doors when we leave the house.

To make a more wider general point, the world is a diverse place, cultures vary greatly, and that's a good thing, but certain cultures have there place and don't travel well, just like certain aspects of western culture don't belong in some other parts of the world, some foreign cultures are not appropriate here.

I would ask all the left wing progressives here in the west, Just how multicultural are you really?

Are you really happy with the Arab patriarchy which makes Muslim women have to cover their hair for instance? do you want female genital mutilation for America? what about "sky burials" like in Tibet? how about skinning dogs alive to eat them at your local markets? Are things like this what you want in America? if not why not? you wouldn't want to deny people their culture would you?!
