In addition to the peahen, Gloria, showing up and still hanging around -- I think the corn fritters and cream puffs I've been feeding her may have had a little to do with that -- the cat that lives outside now has a new little friend. She was spotted early yesterday morning chilling on the front porch with a squirrel sitting right beside her. :cathappy:

hah!

We have a mommy and two baby possums that come into the kitchen for cat food. i take it away from them, because too much protein will eventually cripple them. I put the kibble up on the table -- but last night, one of the babies jumped onto the chair under the table. he was trying to figure out how to get onto the table itself, when he realised that a cat was laying on the next chair seat over. And i was treated to the sight of this seven-inch-long critter reaching his nose waaay out there, sniffing at this cat who was only mildly curious... They touched noses, in fact! The possum did this great little bounce, and decided to make himself scarce, and scuttled for the door.

My cats do hunt small rodents and and lizards, and I see them once in a rare while with a bird. But they pursue a non-violent policy towards all larger things, like possums, and skunks (thank gawd) and raccoons (REALLY thank gawd) and they seem to stay invisible as far as coyotes are concerned.

SSS - LOL. We had a ferret and 3 cats [Sage, Blaze, and Spooky]. Blaze and Spooky were outdoor cats for the most part, Sage was an indoor cat, and the stepmom owned Spooky and Blaze. Well, her biggest fear was them, being outdoor cats, they would attempt to kill Dakota, the ferret.
So...one day I kinda locked all four up in my bedroom, just for shits n giggles. Sage promptly plopped on my bed and watched, amused at the action. Dakota came running out of his cage, happy as could be, looking to play. Blaze and Spooky took one look at him, and ran for the door. LOL the lil 2lb ferret scared the hell out of them. And here...all he wanted to do was just play :D
