I think you should focus a bit more here (and on China's rapid re-arming and re-fitting) before worrying about American Gun Control Laws. It's not like we're driving up to Ontario to do those drive-bys.

Though there are many similarities between American & Canadian culture and society, we are quite different on the subject of firearms.

With that in mind, please understand that your argument comparing gun control to food, medical, political, economic or cultural debates in other countries simply doesn't make sense to me.

Change the subject all you like. I simply believe that if there are fewer guns so freely available with more accountability for those you have there will be fewer murders in your country.

I realize that you feel differently. I respect your Kansas rural armed to the teeth and safe that way personal experience.

We were killing about 160/year here. The crack market changed, and the rate is slightly more than half that now.

Damn skippy.. If deserving citizens had the right to carry in every state, I think we'd see a serious drop in crime and gang warfare.. Shit.. My neighbor down the road has a Class 3 Weapons License (fun toys).. You'd get your ass shot to pieces if you tried to breach his house.. Furthermore.. Policemen need to be given more authority to gun down hoods.. Yes.. That might sound wrong of me, but dammit, I'm fucking tired of punk ass wanna-bes getting away with half the shit they do because the policemen can't fire and end up getting flanked and shot anyway.. It's ponderous.. We've put more power into the gang member's hands and have, in effect, neutered our civil servants.. Somehow, that just doesn't jive.. I'm not one for standing up for the use of force, but sometimes that's your only option left..

Now.. About the drug problem.. Gangs and drugs are directly correlated.. But the federal government organizations don't have a big enough budget to contend with every drug-dealing piece of shit out there.. It's sad, really, but it's the truth.. I propose more military action in South America - let's get fuckin real this time - and that'll hurt the drug cartels enough so that they can't continue to infuse this putrid poison into our country.. Call me a radical, but sometimes you have to take extreme measures..
