I hate to be naysayer but I gotta say don't use soap. It irritates the mucus membrane (maybe that's not what it's called) but it irritates something and causes burning usually when you are having sex. Effectively kills the moment I guarantee.

Bottom line is that it isn't so bad really, though I understand your reluctance to be dirty. I've never found it to be much of a problem when I've done a woman that way and none of my lovers used an enima. Maybe you just had some bad luck.
