An opinion from the fashionistas?

Yesterday we stopped in BJs after church -- so we are talking very early afternoon, before one. Those of you familiar with BJs will know that as you leave the store someone checks your receipt against the contents of your cart. It happened that a lot of people were leaving at the same time, so there was a bit of a wait.

So I amused myself by looking at the folks in line in front of me. There was an oriental lady, maybe mid thirties, slender build, dressed in a black leather mini skirt. She was wearing high heels, no stocking, and a fairly sheer black top with some sequins on it. There are times and places where this getup would not be unusual, but BJs on an early Sunday afternoon is not one of them -- at least to my way of thinking.

Two little kids came running over to her and they went out to their SUV.

Am I missing something? Are black leather mini skirts mainstream now?

If she was Philippine, perhaps. They sometimes have more extreme views of what's dressy than the rest of us.

Good point. I've seen some of our local perfectly respectable Philippine young mamas wear that kind of thing to mass. Like I said, it's one of those cultural things. I'll never figure it out.

Maybe she was coming from church.

You are probably saying that in jest but in fact it might be. She was "dressed up" and why else would you be dressed up on Sunday morning? And she had her two kids with her.

Some of the teenagers in our congregation dress to make the service more interesting -- but this was a mommy.

At least she had the figure to pull it off.

A large number of Asian ladies dress in such a fashion...short skirts, sheer blouses, low-cut necklines, spike heels, long pressed black hair and heavy makeup...most also have the figures to go with the clothing...as Bear said, it's cultural...they often draw fire from the other women in a workplace since they look frumpy next to one of those charmers. :D
