Dear Boxlicker101,

I recently read chapter one of Angel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Adding some drama to Angel's sex with George was a nice change from the typical everybody lives happily ever after erotic story ending.

I am contacting you to offer to purchase the copyrights of you Angel stories for $200.

I'm not a fan of doing business with complete strangers, so to tell you a bit about myself, I am a recent college graduate. I was fortunate enough to find employment after graduating. I am hoping to return to graduate school to study politics in a few years time.

I've gotten involved in writing erotica as a side job to help pay off my student loans and cover some of the expenses of graduate school. It's also a lot more fun than delivering pizza!

If you're interested or have any questions please contact me at ljr.stories@gmail.com. I will send you a short document to sign, scan, and email back to me that confirms our agreement, and then compensate you via paypal. I'm sorry, but I cannot provide other forms of payment. I'm working with rather limited resources and paypal keeps payment reliable, easy, and free.

I don't think I'll accept it, though. First, I have an understanding with Angel Jones, who is the subject of the stories. She is not an imaginary character like those I often write about; she is a real person, and a M to F TS. We have chatted and emailed, although not for quite a while, about her establishing a website featuring her photos and my stories and sharing whatever profits accrue. We have no formal agreement, but I still think we might do something, althugh I will have to finish the series first.

Second, this is fifteen stories, totaling over 150,000 words, and that seems like selling awfullyl low. I believe that, in the right hands and with the right contacts, there could be a lot more money in it for me and Angel. I also believe these are unusually well-written stories, with an ongoing plot and conflict and character development an an antagonist. It is smut, 'tis true, but it's more than that.

I would be very skeptical, to say the least of something like this. I wouldn't do it. I can't offer much besides a gut feeling that it's just wrong.

Nay, you can get more than that, I don't know about you but writing can be hard work, and I haven't got a story 150,000 words long. Your time is worth more than $200.

"It's not the selling out that's bad. It's that these people are selling out for absolutely nothing. You know, if you're going to sell out, sell out for a million dollars. Sell out for 10 million. Don't sell out to the point where you look at yourself in the mirror going: Oh my God, I'm a hack. Why am I doing this for 2000? For 1500? For heaven's sake!"

Also, if you're considering writing any more in this series, you'd want to look at whether selling copyright to the existing stories would interfere with that.

$200 ?!

I can understand someone offering you $200 to publish your work somewhere, but to buy the copyright? No way.

Copyright is all you've got...
