The fact that the President put off the shock and awe attack for a surgical strike to try and get Saddam shows the great lengths that the United States is willing to go to to protect not just our own, but the innocents in Iraq.

Let's hope they aren't torturing Capt. Speicher now. The hearts of all KANSANS go out to Scott and his family at this crucial time.

There's something so voyeuristic and perverse about people watching war live on TV, wanting to learn the names of those captured and killed, the death tolls.

I mourn humanity.

From here: Let's hope they aren't torturing Capt. Speicher now. The hards of all KANSANS go out to Scott and his family at this crucial time.

I assume you mean "hearts" of all Kansans?

But the principle's no different.

Yes, you are right, but Captain Speicher has been held captive since 1991 when we abandoned him and pronounced him dead. If we would not have, America would not have wanted us to stop as per the UN, but would have wanted all our boys home.

And as LeBoutillier points out today, if we do find he was abandoned, then the MIA in Viet Nam issue comes back to the front for many Americans of my age.

Thanks for pointing out the typo. My brain and fingers are not directly wired...

One another note, as you probably have forgotten (who would want to keep up with my uneventful life?) we have turned off the televisions in our house. I have a child to educate.

Yeah, and we have royally fucked a lot of soldiers by abandoning them abroad--or at home--so my heart's kinda with you on the bigger issue. My father graduated high school in 1968. He and both brothers were all drafted, as was one of my mother's two brothers. I grew up in the aftermath of Vietnam, all through my family--we rednecks do fight most of the wars, along with the minorities. It's sure as hell not the politicians...but I digress.

I'm just unable to watch a war on TV. I couldn't do it in high school when it was my own former classmates and boyfriends going, and I can't now when it's my students. I find the whole idea ghoulish. Your original post just brought that to mind.

Nice running into you, SIN, you loon. It's been awhile. Take care. :rose:

Wise man!

I'd say something but since I'm against this war.. it wont be very productive of me to say something lmao

Thank you blues.

Pixie, I don't mind people standing up against war. I was a dedicated lefty standing up against Viet Nam many years ago. But then one matures and the conditions one is willing live in as an individual change dramatically once one has a child and becomes more concerned about the world she will live in than the world you will live in.

Peace.

I am mature which is why I am against it.
Especially when everyone knows its mostly about Oil.
I dont believe that fighting and killing is the way to everything.
World domination doesnt work.

If Iraq stopped producing oil today. If Saddam destroys ALL his wells...

Then Kuwait, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela, and even the US has the capacity to pump more. That is why I think your argument, as mature as it may be, is also fallacious.

its not my arguement. its my bf's arguement.
me I think its a religious crusade.
Bush is overly religious. should be seperation of church and state.
But I'm not at the Pentagon so I obviously cant know what is really going on.
But I do know there is a fucked up thing going on with Oil and sell.
there diggin around here. I'm not fond of the idea canada doesnt even get the money as far as I know.

Then logic will never sway you.

But you have just removed yourself from a mature decision since it is one based on a personal distrust, a gut feeling as so to speak. But please, feel free to express yourself because it bolsters my argument.

hm?? I have very good intuition. I'm not going to argue my points because I dont need others to believe what I do. everyone has an opinion. right?? yes. everyone does.
I will not preach what I think or feel because its not my place to.
I'm pagan and believe that a person has the right to believe whatever they wish. I respect what you think and how you feel. I just dont agree.

I had the greatest intentions towards the Peace effort and enjoyed the camradeship of the left. Then I joined the Marines, watched all my friends turn on me, plus the added enjoyment of having civilians spit on me if I dared wear my uniform in public.

So much for that thinking with emotion. It's blind.

I like uniforms ;)

well people are narrow minded you know?? they wont look at other options and are dead set on one opinion and sometimes its hard for it to be changed.
