When I read a story which promises to be continued, I often wish there was an option to allow a reminder to be Emailed when the next chapter is posted.

Sort of like the way you send a note that someone has posted to a string.

That's a great idea! I don't know what the technology behind that would be, but what about the idea of allowing users to "subscribe" to a specific author? That way, you would be notified whenever that author posted a new story. It would accomplish the same thing, and probably be a little less technologically challenging. :)

Let me know your thoughts.

FYI, ideas like this are the reason why I always say that Literotica is what it is because of the contributions of authors, members, and readers.

I would love that idea. I get mail wondering when the next story would be out only to let them know that one had come out and they'd missed it. I don't email anyone beyond replying to whatever they've already emailed. I'm not into spamming or irritating people. I tried it with an MSN communities page, but MSN yanked the email your members feature and people who signed up only received MSN community update spam once a week, so I dumped the community.

If you could add a Subscribe to you favorites thing, that would help immensely. That and the add your comments to the story bit, though I don't see much use of that feature.

Put one in the story

Speaking for myself, stories tend to grow like spider webs. It can all be in one world with one set of people, but the stories don't fall into a Part 1, Part 2 kind of pattern. In fact they may not eveen fall in the same category. For example "First Position" and "My Aching Feet" are the exact same situation, viewed respectively from the male and female perspective. One is in Fetishand the other is in BDSM.

It would be helpful to have a link in the bottom of the story to direct the reader to the next story. For that matter it would be nice to have a link at the head of a story to direct the reader to a previous episode.

Another thing that would be nice is to collect some of the serial stories into one heading. Why do we need 13 seperate titles for "Kinky Stuff" parts 1-13. It can be hard enough to sort through the stories as it is.

Just my 2 bits worth

.

Yes, that sounds good. It would really help.

Thanks.

I tried the 'Link in the story' method, but Laurel pulled the link out on Manu's advice, on the reasonable premise that if the database was modified, the link would be wrong.

Given that, the 'subscription' concept makes a lot of sense, particularly if it either led, or included a link to, the author's profile page. This would enable the newer reader, who has just read and liked something by a particular author, to find other works and not just other parts of a multi-part work.
