Hello,
this has been bothering me lately. A couple times the subject has come up about contributing to other peoples stories. I have a policy and that is, if you add to my story I will add to yours. A thread for a thread. I have been keeping a list since I joined chyoo in July, and so far I have done well with repaying. I do owe people some threads though. I have a list of who and how many, and it looks like I owe 5.

When the topic of repaying comes up everybody always says they are in favour of it. But I am not sure if that is the case. I would like to create this post for people to post their "who owes me and who I owe" threads to. I think it is a good idea and I will be the first to start. I hope others jump on the band wagon. It might be as simple as maybe this person just forgot to write a thread for you.

As the editor it is impossible to tell how many threads a certain writter has submitted to you. Chyoo lists all who have contributed to a story but not how many times. following this original post I will post my list of who I owe threads to, and who I think owe me. If anybody has any comments or problems with my list, please post a message.

Thank you,
Tim (niceguy2002tim)

My List

Hello,
here is my list. Anybody who wishes to send me feedback on this list may at iconix_t@yahoo.com. Anybody who thinks my list in inacurate let me know.

***A final note about the following names. Some of the authors have NEVER said weather they agree or participate with the 'thread for a thread' idea.***

I (NICEGUY2002TIM) owe the following people.

NAME # of THREADS
Sadman 1
lilguy 1
Fethisboy 1

This next list is who I'd LIKE to add threads to my story, A College girl to be....

NAME # of THREADS
Daciasdesire 1
Zingiber 4
Goldfinger 1
WayneWax 2
HPloveshaft 1
SlidingInSilk 1
SexyChele 1
BouncerBabe 1

The above list does not have to contribute to my story if they wish not to. It is merely a list of writters whoes stories I have contributed to. The number of threads owing represent the number of threads I've wrote to their stories.

Thank you,
Tim (niceguy2002tim)

P.s. I hope nobody is upset.

Remember it's for fun

Here is my take on the subject. While I think your point is well taken, that people should write threads for other stories, not just their own, there is a fine line that you don't want to cross. In my opinion you do not want to create an obligation for someone to write back if you add a thread to their story.

People should write for stories that turn them on, and that they get caught up in. I know that I have gone on six or seven thread runs on stories where I get a storyline in my head. I don't do it to get other people to write threads back, I do it because it is good clean fun. Well maybe dirty fun, but fun nevertheless.

I agree that everyone should write threads for a lot of different stories, I always add to other authors much more than I add to my own. In any event I think if everyone focuses on worrying less about who wrote what for who, and just writes when they are inspired it will create a better site.

Personally there are many new stories that just got approved that I am planning on adding to. There are a lot of great ideas out there just waiting to be developed.

Thanks.

I too am not sure where I stand on this subject. On the one hand a thread for a thread is only fair. On the other hand it can also be constraining, feeling that you have to contribute to certain stories, when you would really like to write for others.

But on the third hand (don't ask where I keep that), its good to keep track of where you stand with your fellow authors. Hence my sudden desire to resurrect this thread.

Where I stand is as follows:

People I owe (and how many threads)

gystex 18
kendahl6969 27
lilguy / fethishboy 18 (but some of them are fucking short! :) )
Zigurat 3
Zingiber 11

People who might like to consider evening their account with me (and by how much) (but, hey, no pressure!)

+69 6
+android1966 1
*daciasdesire 1
*DaisyDuke 1
*Dark Warrior 1
darren j 1
+Different Guy 1
+hippymanga 3 (but he's departed now anyway)
+ishmail 1
jakelyon 1
+LordSomno 1
+Monk 1
+msgrv32 1
*niceguy2002tim 1
*Ooohkitty 2
+philboy 1
*Sco 1
+SlidingInSilk 3
*switch76 1

People with whom I have given & receiven equally (and by how much)

imhotep 5
MCanada 1 (departed?)
SpectreT 1

Can't end without mentioning the following who have given me some great threads, but whom I can't pay back, 'cos they don't have any stories of their own.

fortuna 1
Iron Wolf 2
jon150 2
lickualot 1
Riomiain 1
staafje 2
SwampThing 1
Tillie 7

Well, I actually don't have my own stories... I like the experience of writing in other people's stories and trying to take the story in new directions or trying to build on another's set-up or fantasy better. So I guess what I'm saying is, if I used for eye for an eye theory I would request a story that I really like instead because I never started a story of my own. :D

While I have recently instigated a personal policy of thread for thread, I certainly don't hold others to that. In some cases it would be unreasonable - for instance, I've submitted almost twenty threads to "Population Crisis" (sorry about the lack of link, CHYOO isn't cooperating at the moment, but browse by rating and you'll find it) and I certainly don't expect the editor to respond in kind. Just because I happened to find his story particularly inspirational doesn't mean he feels the same way about mine.

Also, there are three topics I don't write for: Male/Male, because it doesn't do anything for me and I don't think I could do it well; Incest, because I find it abhorrent; and Non-English, because I simply can't.

Essentially, we all want our stories to grow, and the thread-for-thread policy is a good way to attract submissions. It also introduces us to stories we might otherwise not have read. At first, I didn't get much into "The Choices We Make" because it seemed to take forever to get to any sex, but after Dacia submitted a thread to me, I read the story more carefully and realized that its value is that the long intros and many "decision gates" allow you to almost custom-design your eventual sexual encounter. As a result, I became intrigued and so far have submitted seven or eight threads.

So that's the value of promising thread for thread.
