I am an avid reader, I read a lot. I am eternally grateful to the authors who post here, where I can read their stories for free. I know they are not paid, I know I have no right to grumble. Ever.

BUT......

There are quite a lot of really interesting works in progress, where the author has taken us into chapter 6 or 7 or more, and then left us hanging there, with our metaphorical fingers up our arses, waiting for the denoument, the finish, the punch line. For Months!

PLEASE......

Finish what you have started - as the Actress said to the Bishop.

Names of specific stories will be provided - if anyone asks.

Closure

Geo.Fraser,

On a couple of occasions, I've been guilty of doing the same thing.

It is not that I intend to leave people hanging for one or two months. Oftentimes, the stories take a lot of time to complete. I usually have two or three stories being written at any one time, with 15 to 25 more fully outlined, just waiting for me to get to them. I hop from one story to another story and try to finish them off simultaneously. Perhaps it would be better to do one thing at a time, but I find I get quite easily bored when working on a single project for weeks on end. By hopping back and forth between three different projects, I believe I stay more focussed on each one. Once I feel my attention sagging, I move onto the next project for awhile.

Also, I am in the middle of completing a fantasy novel. I consider this to be my main focus, and this naturally takes up the majority of my time. Writing erotica helps to keep my mind sharp and my skills honed. It is also nice to be able to finish a project! I've been writing my novel for almost four years now. Short stories take much less time to complete. Usually.

I cannot speak for the other authors, but those are usually the reasons why I let things sit on the various story web sites. If I ever feel that I want to abandon a storyline, I usually do cap it. The ending story is usually hastily written, but it does complete the tale. Sometimes, I wonder if the readers would rather have it remain open ended but with a strong story, rather than reading my half-assed rush job closing stories.

Who knows?

Which stories

I'll ask. In case it's me and I've forgotten to post a story part.

Which are the incomplete stories?

Here are some that I've been following

Some Works in progress that have had looong Time Outs

Charly A Compromise Sep 2001
John Wadd Ann Nov 2001
Billsthename Gift for Brenda Oct 2001
Winnebegal The Hotel Oct 2001
ManofMithgar Yardwork July 2001
Paul Phenomenon My Sister Kelly Oct 2001
by Ray1031 Crowded House Nov 2001
Firefighter The Tape Sep 2001

I believe "Firefighter" is actually a Firefighter, and was involved 9-11 at the WTC, so no wonder.

Not on list, thankfully.

Thanks for the list. Stories to avoid if you like to know what happens in the end. I'm glad I'm not on it.

It's sad to think any contributor or reader may have died on Sept 11.

You'll never pin that rap on ME! ...yet

So far, i've only submitted 3 chapters of one story, but i already know how fickle the Muses can be.

One more chapter and i should resolve this step in a much longer tale. (Of course i thought i'd be done after the 3rd chapter, but it's amazing how uncooperative characters can be -- i mean Who's in CHARGE here?)

i can commiserate with your frustration though. It's also rough when you see chapters 2, 4 & 5, but there's no notation on where to look for the missing parts.

Perhaps you'd like to check out these three chapters, and if i take too long to wrap up this part of the adventure you could harrass me until i get back to work!
