This apology is not directed at any particular individual, but to all who have been ghosted and in particular to any women I've ghosted over the years. I am deeply sorry for any pain that may have caused you. I now know how you feel and it sucks.

I was recently ghosted (for lack of a better term) by a long time chat partner. We had grown very close over time, so it was particularly painful when she just disappeared. I've tried to reach out to her, but have received no response. We had been planning to meet up in September and now that seems destined to not happen.

I know that she recently went through a divorce and is dating someone new, so I understand her perspective. But I wish she would at least have said goodbye. I'm sure I've done the same thing to women at times over the years and looking back now I feel absolutely terrible about it.

This probably is less of a personal ad than many that appear here, so let me end this way. If you are a woman who has experienced something similar and want someone to commiserate with, hit me up. Or if you've been lucky enough to be spared this experience, but would like to chat anyway, I'm always looking for friends (and lovers). I'd love to hear from you.

And all are welcome to comment below about their own experiences with being ghosted. Thanks for listening!

There have been a multitude of threads on ghosting. Ghosting happens. It happens because the internet makes it easy. Easier with people you've never met before. Is it cool to ghost someone? No. Not unless you have a good reason, like the guy is a total creep who's not deserving of why you're dumping his pathetic ass!

Is it nice or polite to ghost someone? No, but there are no rules on relationships that are internet born. You just have to be aware. If you put your feelings out there for someone, you run the risk of of having them hurt. That's just the way it is. It's called real life.

For the record I've been ghosted twice on here in the last few years. One of them really hurt me. And my lesson learned from it? Never let it happen again. That's why I keep people here and other online places I frequent at arm's length or greater. Maybe that's not your way, or the best way, but it's my way. Maybe I lose out at the end, but like I said, that's just the way it is.
