An Ancient Aliens type story

Archeologist find remains of ancient beings that are not human. They also discover artifacts that still work that are not from our world. On one is a recording that tells a story about how the group found, came to Earth to help us advance but found another ancient race here before them. This other race destroyed their spaceship stranding them here. The first race who, got here first pretended to be our gods and directed our lives from that point on.
