An American in Paris

I'm stuck home - broken leg propped. But wonderful movies are on satellite today - I just woke up to Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron - don't you love those old movies? All Gershwin music - sigh. (the sight of Gene Kelly in tight pants ain't bad either!)

Hope your leg is healing nicely.:)

I adore Katharine Hepburn movies. Especially the ones with Carey Grant. Bringing Up Baby is my favorite...followed by the Philadelphia Story. I love that first scene where he pushes her back into the house.:D I love just about every scene in BUB....no matter how many times I watch it..I laugh my ass off.

When ever I'm in a funk, Blazing Saddles is a sure cure. Come to think of it,most any Mel Brooks movie will do.

Yes - love Hepburn - when women were supposed to be "meek" - she never was!!

(Thanks - I guess my leg is healing - it still hurts more than I think something like this should - but I've never broken a bone, so maybe I have no idea!! It has only been a week. . .)

I love musicals - Guys and Dolls was on the other day - a young Frank Sinatra and a gorgeous Marlon Brando - men were so sexy when they all wore hats!!! And as you can probably tell, I've seen a lot of TV the past week!

Oh hey - but I submitted another story and am halfway through writing the next - so it's not too bad!!! LOL

I'm not a big fan of musicals...but I did like Guys and Dolls. Marlon Brando in that era of his life just exuded SEX SEX SEX...He's one of those actors you wanted to instantly fuck..no matter where you were.

Yes - gangster Brando - oh boy - would NOT kick him outta bed for eating crackers!!!

If he was in bed with me he wouldn't be eating crackers:D

Given your situation, have you watched Rear Window and The Man Who Came to Dinner yet?

(I love classic movies, especially Hitchcock.)

Plus John Alton's genius cinematography.

Yes! Rear Window was a given - my husband rented it for me to see again last Sunday, actually. It has been awhile since I've seen The Man Who Came to Dinner - but I love classic movies, too!

We have a satellite dish - never really had a chance to check it out before (more for kids - cartoon network, Nogin, 3 Disneys, 2 Nick, etc.) But lately - I'm finding much to enjoy - Turner Classic Movies - great channel!

It is an incredible movie - and not understood by everyone who watches. The fact that the last twenty minutes of the movie contain no actual dialogue was of concern during the filming, I recall reading at one time.

I work with theater/musicals a great deal, and am always trying to figure out a way to stage this scene, that scene, how to make this work. Impossible - that movie will never be staged well - it can't be done.

(Of course, I was also thinking the same thing about Lion King - but hey!)

OK - it must be Bing Crosby day on TCM - in half an hour, Going My Way is on, followed by the Bells of St. Mary's - wonder why he was so popular when he played a priest? Hmmmm

One of my favorite movies. I hope Singing In The Rain is next on your list!

Smiling . . .

Isn't that song one of the best scenes ever in a movie? Gene Kelly with his ever-present smile as he dances - the viewer is probably unaware as to the difficulty of the moves - An amazing man!

Speaking of Brando, Mike Hammer has a terrific av of him. At first I didn't even recognize it as him, he's laughing.

Ooooh - that's a nice pic! Mike Hammer has nice taste!
I woke up in time this morning to see the scene where Brando's character grabs Sgt. Sarah Brown and kisses her hard - yum! (then, of course, she slaps his face - but hey) Delicious stuff!
