i know there are both males and females here, though it seems to me that the girls are a little quieter in the personals section - at least more than the guys are (correct me if i'm wrong). but for those that do speak up and post a personal ad, how do you feel about the 10,000 guys who seem to respond within the hour and flood your PM boxes (okay, that's a lot of exaggerating, but still)? i always worry when responding to a female personal ad because i'm probably #27 out of the 50 PMs that she received.

is it flattering when a lot of guys respond? is it annoying? is it funny?

it's annoying when they just say the same lame stuff, and haven't even bothered to read my profile.

I like p.m's that have some thought put into them, and are sexy, dirty or erotic. I have hooked up with a couple of guys from Lit in the past, so being creative with a p.m can get you places

I feel the same as you, MissObedient. But I feel it's flattering for the most part. I try to respond to all who message me. And I've gotten to know a few of the people I've met here quite well. Even gone as far as meeting a few. Though I have only 'hooked up' with one guy from Lit before, I would have happily done so with a few more. I've met a lot of wonderful guys here, and also a few...undesirables. The good comes with the bad, I suppose...

I hated it when I use to get them. Especially when I was not looking for anyone.

However, if you are one pm out of 50 if you are special enough you will get through. Besides, the woman if she is smart, will have a back up list in case numbers 1 through 27 turn out to be idiots.

wow - all very good, interesting answers.

this thread got bumped down quite a bit, so i figured i'd send it back to the top to see if anyone else had any opinions on the subject.

i just talked to another girl recently who found it flattering to receive so many messages for awhile, but eventually the quality began to drop drastically from long thought-out messages to short messages like "let's cyber sometime" and "do you have any pics?"

so again, girls, how do you feel about the responses your personal ads?

threads disappear quickly here, so if you want to keep this on the front page you may have to be a little more vigilant about bumping it. then there's always the chance that it's just not something of interest and won't get many responses.... I know all about starting threads like that.

I'm not trying to put the topic down or anything, just trying to give you a head's up.
