Amazon.com question

Following along with the IT threads going on, I have an Amazon question. I order a ton of stuff off Amazon and I'm generally pleased with the site and service. I haven't yet ordered any adult toys or other "personal" items from Amazon.

Even though I've put in my profile that I don't want Amazon to keep my history etc. it seems to ignore this setting. When I log on there is a list of everything I've ever ordered from this site. In addition I get regular e-mails from Amazon telling me various specials they have on items which I've ordered in the past.

Now the questions. I'd rather Amazon not keep a history of every adult toy I've ordered and I really don't need a regular e-mail on vibrator specials currently being run etc. For others that use Amazon for their adult shopping needs what has been your experience in this area and am I missing some type of privacy setting to eliminate this history and e-mails?

Good question. I'll be interested also to any answers that get posted. It is still good/nice to be somewhat anonymous when purchasing adult related material. Not sure why... but just the way I was brought up I guess....

I am not an expert on this but I believe you are better off chucking Amazon in regards to Adult toys and go to an Adult toy website.

I have ordered a couple of items in November and have had no problem with emails, etc.

Subwannabe is correct - you'd proably be better off avoiding Amazon for anything that you'd prefer not leave a trail. I've never bought anything except books from Amazon, but they're certainly keeping track of my purchases and tailoring a constant stream of emails according to past purchases.

I ordered some items this late fall - I have gotten no email suggestions, but it is in my order history. This made me a little nervous as my dad and I share our kindle accounts with each other, but he would have only seen it if he signed in on a computer as me. On your account page online, I remember being able to uncheck a box or something to not receive future recommendations or requests to review product.

For maximum privacy, you could make a second account and have those items sent to a PO box.

You could also try marking items as a gift, which makes them not show up in your suggestions.

I've purchased a few toys from Amazon and have never received e-mails about adult toys. I did see toys pop up in the "You might be interested in..." part of the site after searching for some.

What annoys the shit out of me, though, is that even though I've already purchased a television from Amazon over a year ago, I still to this day receive e-mails about TVs. WTF?

Yes, as others mentioned I would possibly go to an adult store online. Instead of purchasing from Amazon. I promote for them, and for some reason I get e-mails about products I promote. I'va had the adult things show for me since I browsed it once, but I don't receive emails about any adult products.

If you want to get adult products, toys especially the best place I've ever seen is Adam & Eve. They have been around forever and there is a reason for it, the products they have are good and the prices are better. There are cheaper sites to get dildo's and whatnot, but you do actually get what you pay for.

We get emails from them on a regular basis advertising sales and special gifts. For a first time buyer you get gifts with your purchase. I think free videos and a little lube, been a while so it might be different now. Just do a search for Adam & Eve on google. ;)
