Okay, so I got a couple of Amazon.com gift certificates, worth a total of $100.00. I'd been putting off using them, and actually almost forgot all about them. Then, out of the blue, I decided to log on and peruse the selection of books and movies they have to offer.

Silly me.

The place is FREAKIN' HUGE!

Books, movies, CDs, games, toys . . . they offer PRODUCE! Wedding rings! Holy Hell, is there no end to the madness . . . .

I spent four freakin' hours on Amazon, caught up in the miasmoric web of products on offer. I'd put in something to search for, then just . . . stare. Oh. My. God.

"It's full of stars."

In the end, I picked out a couple movies and a CD, a book, and an electronic telescoping Obi-Wan lightsaber. :p What can I say? I'm a geek.

Honestly, there's a lot to be said for the limited selection available at the typical mall or shopping center. There really can be too much of a good thing. I really didn't need to spend those hours scrolling through so many choices and options.

Please, if there is anyone so inclined, DO NOT give me a gift certificate to Amazon.com!

If you get some certificates you don't want, Red Cloud School always needs books. :)

I will too. If I win a gift certificate in the Survivors' contest, as I have the last two years, I will give it to them. :)

Great . . . now I feel guilty for buying a lightsaber. Thanks a lot, Cloudy. :p

lol...don't feel guilty. I'll hit you up during my Christmas drive, no worries. ;)

Great . . . another reason to dread the holidays. :p

Somehow, the idea of an Ojibway gishkishkenh 'hitting me up' just does not mix well with yuletide celebrations . . . ;)

lightsaber pics

Now we will need a picture of you and ... the lightsaber now, won't we?

Cloudy I am often giving away books (usually children ones) to various causes. Would you PM me the address or post it here. I have no qualms at all sending books off to folks. What kind are you looking for? Children - adult - teens...

Slyc - - I look forward to seeing your saber. ;)

My whole family orders on one Amazon account. To say we have diverse interests would be putting it mildly.

I delight in driving its little recommendation engine absolutely batty.

I sold my soul to Amazon years ago. There is just so much and some of it is so hard to find anywhere else.

I'm lazy and I like buying strange things.

Me, too. I buy jazz cd's and pulp detective novels for my husband, a wide variety of cd's, cartoon and classic comedy dvd's for my son, contemporary novels, erotica, a litter box and cookie cutters for myself. Plus, I purchase books for a few teachers on my account, often 20 or more of the same title. That little bot must just shudder when I log on. :cathappy:

amazon and I are friends too, as I am with eBay. When I was recovering from those surgeries I had in May, I did a lot of shopping. I had no energy to write, shopping though, it doesn't take too long to type in that credit card number. lol. . . Believe me now that I'm writing again, my credit card is happy to be on vacation.

When my nieces and nephews were little, I'd buy all their Christmas presents at Amazon. Then I'd have them delivered to my office, since there was nobody at home to sign for them. The secretaries just thought I was buying lots of books! But nope, they sell all sorts of toys, too......Carney

I love Amazon.com gift certs. I get them through a website evaluation service I do. Last year, I saved them plus the gift certs I got from Lit for survivor and year end award and one from a friend and was able to purchase the full seven season collection of Buffy the Vampire Slayer for a mere 40 bucks (which I had gotten from my parents for my bday so it really didn't cost me a dime.)

I used to do the Christmas presents thing through Amazon until Toys R Us stopped being an Amazon vendor.

I'd have had them spent in like 30 seconds...doesn't matter how much they were for ;)

I pretty much already know what I want when I go there. I've always got a list of music, movies and books I want.
