Since all the cool kids have one of these threads now, I thought I'd see if I can weasel my way into the in-crowd.

You know the drill by now, I'm sure. Ask away, but know that I will likely shy away from certain kinds of personal details.

Please be advised that no animals, real or imaginary, will be harmed in this thread. Except for those insufferable bugs that shit out pumpkin spice for the farmers at Starbucks. They are fair game and will be stomped on sight.

What is your fav sandwich?

What do you do for work?

What is your fav color?

What questions have we asked so far to others that piqued your interest?

Overall, my favorite between-pieces-of-bread entree is the cheeseburger. If you insist on an item that would be listed under "Sandwiches" on a menu, then it's the Reuben. I know a place that bakes its own rye bread, makes their own Thousand Island dressing, buys corned beef and swiss cheese from farms less than 5 miles away from the restaurant and their Reuben sandwich is orgasmic.

I am an old retired dude at the moment, but there was a time when I did technical writing whose primary purpose was to teach others how to do jobs that I myself could never do.

Blue.

All the most intriguing questions I have seen have been addressed to seela and faralicious and they were largely gender-specific or related to sexual preferences, so I call no joy on this one.

But thanks for being the first to try the water here.

I am getting up in years as well. It seems you have an interest in good food. As you got older did you find that some favorite foods were no longer a good idea or required putting the tums on the bedstand.

I'm hard pressed to think of any particular foods that I have had to set aside as belonging to a time when I wore a younger man's clothes. At the same time, I have found that my body misbehaves less if I take a lactose pill before eating cheesy foods or ice cream. I shy away from very spicy foods now that used to be staples, though I still indulge occasionally. But good food is too valuable a pleasure to give up the fight entirely.

Why do you have this insane need to put sauerkraut on a hotdog or sandwich?

What do you collect?

Do you have a hobby you tried that you wished you had never taken up?

What's the ideal way to spend your spare time?

If you could see one artist/band performing live, at their prime, who would it be?

What do you do when you're cranky or stressed and need to unwind?

Great questions....

1) Lynyrd Skynyrd.... Had plans to see them in high school ... then the crash.

2) Listen to Skynyrd and Zepplin ( my 2nd live show choice )

What is your favourite wood to work with? Your favourite piece that you made? Your next woodworking project?

What's your favorite travel memory/experience?

What's your favorite dessert?

Do you want to be asked sex related questions or would you rather people don't ask questions on that topic?

Do you enjoy a good nap?

Yes. Sometimes I even enjoy a bad nap.

Ten favorite authors?

In no particular order, the ones who come to mind right now: P. G. Wodehouse, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Virginia Woolf, Carl Hiassen, James Joyce, Christopher Schwarz, James Krenov, Abraham Lincoln, Anais Nin, and Chris Hayes.

What aspects of BDSM drew you to it?

Initially, it was the opportunity to take complete control. Once I got started, it was the crazy amount of experimentation that became possible because I was blessed to start with a partner who was equally curious and willing to try new things.

I don't know if I have an ideal and I'm not even sure that I have spare time in the traditional sense. As an old retired dude, very little of my time is determined by other people the way it was when I had work hours. Now, I pick up a book or put on some Mozart whenever I wish.

I NEVER put sauerkraut on a hot dog. You have me confused with someone from Noo Yawk. As for sauerkraut on sandwiches - some are is inexplicable but you take in the beauty because it feeds your soul.

I don't collect anything intentionally the way some people might collect old books or a certain style of figurine. I have built up a fairly sizable collection of tools, but I don't think of utilitarian things as a collection. To me, a collection is something you build largely for the sake of the acquiring where I buy tools because I need to use them.

I can't think of any hobby that I wished I had abandoned or never started like this, though I went through a period where I was obsessed with eating bread pudding and that probably didn't do my waistline any favors.

At his prime, I would love to have seen Beethoven. It is said that he may have been the greatest improvisational piano player ever. More currently, I would love to see Norah Jones perform in a small cafe.

I find that sharpening my tools is a great way to unwind. And to aggravate my arthritis, but one can't have everything.

What is your favourite wood to work with? Your favourite piece that you made? Your next woodworking project?

I love working with the classic North American hardwoods: cherry, maple, and walnut. I especially love how cherry darkens as it ages so a piece made from cherry is ever-evolving and improving over time. Many years ago I designed a small desk clock and it's still my favorite piece. I made several that I gave away as presents. I should make a few more sometime soon. My next large scale piece is going to be a book case. I also want to start making some boxes, on a smaller scale, say the size one would use to store tea bags.

I have not traveled anywhere nearly as much or as far as many people. My favorite memory is probably the first time I went to Boston as an adult. It was magical to visit a place that had some 25 times as many residents as the city where I grew up. So many amazing buildings, restaurants, museums. I was in awe the whole weekend.

Ah, dessert. I have already confessed to my love of bread pudding but if I had to be held to a single type of dessert I would choose pie in a heart beat. I love pie.

I'm perfectly ok with people asking sex-related questions. I think they tell me almost as much about the asker as my answer might say about me.

Cherry is amazing.

Someone asked me this:

What is your favourite (woodworking) tool?

Controversial questions for a woodworker:

Phillips head or Robertson / Square Drive?

Type II or Polyurethane glue?

Power joiner or hand plane?

Pull saw or push saw?

Bevel up or bevel down?

Dovetails or Box Joint?

(Those of you who don't think these questions are about sex have never seen a tissue paper-thing slice of rock maple taken from a long board, curl up on the plane and fall to the floor in the pile with its brothers and sisters)

For most of my work, traditional slotted screws are most appropriate. For construction projects it's hard to beat square drive.

I have a bottle of poly glue. I should try it sometime.

I don't own a power jointer. My arthritis wishes i did.

I mostly use Japanese pull saws.

My best planes are L-N bevel up.

Early on I was in love with box joints but now I am dedicated to learn to do passable dovetails.

Stealing Cookie's question to others, how many Litsters have you met? (Wondering if Yank can count that high :D.)

What advice would you give for someone with the opportunity to meet a Litster (assuming we're out of this Covid mess)?

That's a lovely travel memory! I remember the first time I went to Prague and saw the old town. I felt like I was walking on a movie set and it blew my mind that people actually go to work, have fights, find loves, eat dinner, walk the streets, just lead regular lives there. It felt so extraordinary. I wish I could experience the same awe again. I've become old and jaded.

So, pie. What kind of pie? :)

What's something sexual you haven't experienced yet but would like to?

Now, that's a question I haven't thought about in a long time. There was a time in my career when I traveled quite a bit and I would occasionally get the opportunity to meet up with Litsters while out of town. I remember particularly meeting up with folks I really enjoyed in Seattle, New York, and San Jose. I also have been lucky to attend four or five gatherings of Litsters and all told there were probably 75 different people at those events, with a fair amount of overlap from year to year.

Advice? We're just people and many of us keep our sex lives remarkably private despite appearances here online, so expect to treat us like anyone else interesting that you'd like to meet and you'll do just fine.

For some reason, this brings to memory a road trip I took along the west coast several years ago. I drove from San Francisco to LA, and managed to include dinner at the Hog's Breath Inn in Monterrey, which was owned by Clint Eastwood at the time. It's a world away from Prague but the Just-folks nature of the place and of the many places I visited on that trip felt much the same to me as you described above.

Every kind of pie. I'm especially fond of fruit pies like blueberry and apple, but I also love the cream pies like banana and chocolate cream, nut pies like pecan (which rhymes with a synonym for a chamber pot), and even more savory ones like mince meat. The combination of a well-made crust with almost any filling is a sensory experience of the highest order.

An experience I haven't tried but would like to? Hmmm...I can think of a few things I didn't get around to with certain partners that I wish we had managed to do but at the moment I can't think of anything I haven't done that I have a burning desire to attempt. Well, there's this one thing involving a cup of coffee but that's personal.
