Am I the only one who likes Audio Stories?

I have discovered audio stories recently (Thanks to Killer Mucffing and her Willow which is my favorite right now.) but I notice they don't get much attention here in the Story feedback board. Do most people not find them as exciting as the written story? I for one find them even more exciting! I loved Willow so much Wal Murt made me promise not to listen to it more than three times in one day. They can't send enough truck loads of Puffs tissues to keep up with me if I listen more than three times.

I loved AhMyGoddess's telling of Farmer's Daughter I and it may get me in more trouble with WalMurt too!

Actually I loved all the audio's It is different than reading a story. It adds a whole new dimension of experience.

A'm I the only one that feels this way??

You aren't the only one who likes audio stories. Most of the people who listen probably don't bother coming to the board though. That would be my guess.

Huummmm Makes me wonder?

That makes me wonder how much traffic the audio stories get? I tried them when I first found Literotica but had a lot of trouble getting them to work on my Macintosh. I stayed away from that page for the longest time. I only returned when you mentioned your posting and was very happy to find I could play it!!! I don't know wether Laurel and Manu did something to make them more compatable or I added a necessary plug-in update unwittingly that made them work. There is one that still doesn't work but with all the other problems Laurel and Manu have trying to post everyones stories I hate to mention it to them. Maybe only people using Macintoshes with Navigator have the problem. (At least I'm not running that on Firestones!! hehehe)

Also I would think the audio stories use lots more bandwidth than text stories and that would affect site costs.

I just did another audio, Laurel should have it now. Its just under 10 megabytes as an mp3 file. it was nearly a gig as a wav file. No idea how big it is as a ram file. My current written story just hit page 35 and its only 1mbish in size. So I can see the logistical problems in archiving these things.

I wonder about hits on the stories as well. I have gotten a lot of wonderful feedback (ego has been fully stroked) from people who've listened in. I just hope the taxed resources to traffic ratio is good for them.

Another Audio Story From Killer Muffin! GREAT

Oh WoW Killer Muffin I'm heading right down to get several cases of Puffs ready!

bandwidth= translates roughly into how much you upload download. A 5 gig ( 5,000,000,000 )picture being uploaded or downloaded constantly takes much more bandwidth than a 5 k (5,000) story. audio files and picture files thus take lots more bandwidth. A site has to pay for the bandwidth they use. So a site with hundreds of pictures being downloaded every day might pay 500.00 a month (or lots more) while a site with nothing but text might pay 50.00 and both have the same number of visitors.

Looks like they are getting more popular!!

I know lots of Amateur girls sites that were a little unsure about audio stories but found once they posted some they were very popular. I think that is what is happening here. Another factor is the technology has improved tremendously and lots more people have DSL or Cable Modem connections that let them hear the stories with out breaks.

As usual the adult internet is pioneering for the rest of the net. Just as most "adult" sites are profitable within 6 manths while non adult sites like Amazon.com have been up five years and still can't earn a profit. Adult sites like Literotica lead us into the next century.

Of course sexy voices Like Killer Muffin's help too! She could describe how to clean house and make it sound sexy!!! Now if we could just get a CD of Killers narations!!!

I really like the stories IF the teller is good. The story must be told with a bit of enthusiasm and tone inflection. I thoroughly dislike an audio story where the reader is doing just that, reading.

I had a problem for a while, but now I really like them. Is there any way of showing the stats on them? how many hits how do you rate them... etc? sugestions for improvement? I know one of performers
has recieved some distrubing email, form the audio stories, and that is not good there needs to be an esay way of telling them ecourging messages. So we can get more, more, MORE I SAY

Any suggestions or constructive criticisms on how to not sound like I'm reading is more than enthusiastically appreciated. Getting someone to edit an audio story is nearly impossible because logistically, it's very very difficult due to the size of the file and the speed of my modem. Takes forever to upload it. The last one hit a size of 10 mb and I just have a 56k analog.

Just don't suggest I add a moan or a groan here or there. I am reading a story about sex, not having sex. The stories where they do carry on like that, don't appeal to me in the least, the only reason I did do an audio is because I felt like I had to put up or shut up.

I thoroughly abhor the sound of my voice, it's teeth gritting torture to listen to it, so everything I hear sounds all wrong and totally nasty to me, so personal editing is also a pain in the tuckus. If it weren't for the fact that people keep asking me to keep it up, I wouldn't do it.

KM, Gary hit the nail on the head when he made the distinctiction between telling a story and reading a story. Unfortunately in our culture, telling stories has become a lost art, (perhaps internet audio will restore it) and is reserved mostly for children. These are some tips garnered from more than 30 years of public reading experience.

1) Mind Set, remember that you are telling a tale to entertain an audience, not just reading a dirty story to get perverts off. To get into this frame of mind you might imagine a situation where you would be telling your friends this wild sexy tale. (For you say at a friend’s bridal shower, for guys in the locker room.) This is a “cool” medium. By that I mean that the listeners imagination is an active participant in the process. You don’t have to sigh, or moan, or groan. If you do your job well enough, your audience’s imagination will supply them. (You did this in Willow, which I think is your best audio piece)

2) The Material, be really familiar with it. Read it several times orally before ever attempting to perform it. You should almost have it memorized, but don’t. Memorization tends to breed overconfidence. On your first oral rehearsal, pay very close attention to the punctuation. Does it say what the author intends? Is it readable (I recently was given a selection to read where a translator correctly used three semicolons in one sentence. The grammar was ok, but it was incomprehensible when read aloud.) Are the natural pauses close enough together so that you can breathe comfortably? You may have to rework the piece to accommodate the oral presentation.

3) Acoustics, the blending of pitch, rate, loudness, and intensity, that produce the subjective ‘feel’ that your audience experiences. All of us have a natural rate, pitch, and timbre that we use everyday of our lives. Call this your basic voice. It is what you will use to tell the story. There will be places in the story where you will want to increase the pitch or slow down the rate, etc. to match what is happening in the story. You need ‘marry’ these variable qualities to the story to move from “reading” to “telling”. An example may help. “After their kiss, she melted into his arms, looking longingly into his eyes.” ‘After their kiss’ should be at base voice. From ‘she’ through ‘arms’, pitch drops. Intensity increases through to the end, and rate falls off a little. This sounds harder than it is. The point is to be aware of these subjective qualities in your voice, and use them intentionally. A little goes a long way, over doing it will produce that “Cheesy” effect.


I don’t believe that “editing” in the since that is done for written material is what is needed for audio productions. I rather think that “coaching” may be what is needed. If I can ever figure out how to make the microphone work on this blasted thing, I would offer my services on msn messenger; alternately perhaps something could be arranged by phone?

I’m sorry that you dislike your voice. I rather like it, and if your feedback is any indication, so do most other people. I suspect that you are not used to hearing it. When we talk, at least 40% of what we hear is conducted directly by the bones of our skulls to the inner ear. So when we hear what everybody else does, it is “not me” talking. I hope that you have a long time to get used to it reading stories to us.

I love all kinds of audio stories and I understand how downright hard it can be sometimes to do what you basically do Killer Muffin. If you did my Kimberly Goes Vamp for example I know people would almost feel their neck being bitten into during the part where that happens.

You do story telling, not audio sex and I like that. Sure I like audio sex too and I have several sites where I listen to lots of those but life is not all f***.

Even on literotica. I cum to Literotica to read stories about good sex and good sex stories. I don't cum to literotica to experience orgasm after orgasm. I want a little forplay in that too!

Just as you hear mistakes or don't like you voice in some ways, I look at the pics of photo shoots I do and find all kinds of mistakes I made in taking them. But... thousands of surfers have told girls I did shoots for how sexy the girls were with out a single complaint about how bad the picture was. (except for requests for closer nipple and pussy shots!! hehehe )

I have to say I've had to clean up a keyboard or two after getting carried away by your narrations Killer Muffin Keep up the work if you enjoy our praise enough. Your VERY talented!!

I am having a few audio things "in store" but I just think they are too long... which makes them too big ... plus, my stories are stories and no hard core sex desriptions (as e.G. The Draghkar) so I am not really sure about them.

Sure - people said (when I asked on another thread) that they wouldn't mind listening to a lengthy story if it was good - now... First I am not sure IF i am good - second .. if I am good ... am I good enough to keep someone interested fo 13,5 minutes?? (that is how long chapter 1 turned out when narrated) .. would anyone bother to wait for a file of around 3 MB to open???

My goodness do I detect some doubt in the misstress' question? Yes, my dear, you are very good. The fact that Engalish is a second language for you keeps you "honest", and of course, gives you that wonderful accent. I could listen to it for a long time.

13.5 minutes is a very long segment. Is there no way to break it into shorter ones? I'm more woried about your voice being ale to maintain its quality, than I am of you being able to hold the audience's interest.

I have downloaded bigger files then that, but you're right, that has to be a consideration.

I do hope that you find some materal to your liking as I would like to hear more from you.

Well, Hecate sweetie, my last one was 10mb. Some people actually did like it *thank you!* and waited around for it to open. It was, I think, about 8 1/2 almost 9 minutes long, but I misremember and I'd have to open it to find out.

I would say go for, record it, see what happens? Whats the worst that'll happen? Someone won't like it? Other people definately will. I love listening to your voice.
