After enjoying Literotica stories for years I finally have one I want to share. My writing skills aren't up to much so I'm not sure how well it's actually going. Can anyone point me somewhere where I can post a first chapter for some early feedback?

Thanks!

-Jamie

On your lit page on the left hand side is the option "submit" you then click submit story

before you do further down the page is "helpful links" that will explain some of the basics.

Once your story is in it could take 5-7 days to post. In the meantime whatever you do, do not click pending. That will put your story in the back of the line again.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately I've only written one chapter so far (there will be eight), the story isn't ready for the full submission yet. Is there anywhere I can get feedback on just what I've written or is that not done?

Not really. There is a feedback forum, but you're supposed to already have the story up for it.

You can post a couple of paragraphs there and see what people think.

Also if you have a lot done on other chapters you can submit just chapter one and once that posts start a thread in feedback forum and get some takes. It will give you some direction on the rest of your chapters.

This is one avenue for that. A longer synopsis or a bit of a sample might intrigue someone to take a look at the full chapter.

There's no formal place or process to find beta readers, really. The easiest way to go about that is probably posting on the forum and making acquaintances. ( Stay away from the General Board! LOL )

I didn't think of that. You can post in the Editors forum and see if anyone wants to give it a read.

I'll also chime in with the advice to stay away from the General Board, it has nothing to do with writing and everything to do with bullying.

Only the cool kids hang there:rolleyes:

Ok that's great advice, thank you for taking the time. My first story, I'm excited ;)

"That sensation your feeling is 'not' the Quickening",

It's also not your friend. Take your time to get your story as close to perfict as you can before you post it. Your score and comments will be a lot better for that time.

Our opinions of your work might help but then again they might not. They will be what they are.

'OUR' opinions and the one that has to matter the most to you as the writer is your own. So long as you like what your writing... well that's one reader happy now work for two.

Welcome to the fun house, remember the only silly question is one you didn't ask.

Oh yea, don't feed the Trolls in the clown makeup.:D:D

What they said with an addendum, more or less ignore the feedback. No seriously if you listen to the people who read your stuff you make them happy and you are miserable. May not happen right away, may not happen in a year, but eventually you will blow your own head off because it got to you.

I am talking of the unbearable burden of being a wimpy little writer who bowed to what others want. Do you want to blow your own head off? I mean do you? :D

Sorry I am being extra nutso today.

Anyway, do ignore the feedback, well basically because you will get odd things that take the story away from what you had envisioned if you listen to it. Besides, what one person who sends feedback says is not what everyone wants. In other words you can't please everyone so don't even fucking bother, make yourself happy and write it the way you want.

Also, be wary around lovecraft, he has an imaginary wife. :D

Oh and be careful of MSTarot, somebody that is doing a handstand for that long is so not right in the head, in a bad way. :p

You have a good point. There is a fine line with feedback about what you take to heart, do not take to heart and how seriously to take any of it.

I think feedback can be beneficial, but nothing said has to be taken as "law" remember everything here is opinion. Show one story to ten people and you can get 4 it sucks, 4 its great and two, "so-so"

I know you want to think that because you desire me so badly, but alas, all this is taken already.;)

Be careful, when I said emap reminds me of Elmore Leonard I was talking about his bald head and goatee, Just sayin.

Comments would be okay if LIT let you give the commenter a nuclear enema back.

Can't say I disagree with this in any way. Some of my writing clearly shows this to be a fact.

And if you could see what it looks like before I edit it.

I end up there sometimes, then I delete and start over. ;)

lovecraft you got nothing I want, I just poke at ya cause it's fun. You at least have a sense of humor unlike certain folk, like James.

lovecraft you got nothing I want,

I see how it is.

This go all the way back to grade school when kids picked on the boy or girl they really liked. I gotcha.

But thanks for at least noting I don't take myself all that seriously.

I'll catch you later, usual place.;)
