The Joy of Sex makes a good book to alter...


I took a book altering class where you do a round robin (pass books to classmates for them to do a page in your book.) A lot of the ladies were making stipulations like "I don't want penises in MY book" or "No nudity" or blah blah blah. I ended up dropping the class. Good hell what a bunch of close-minded folks... but then again, I do live in a VERY conservative city. I couldn't handle trying to decipher what they would think obscene nudity or art.



Still, I like the option of posting naughty stuff in my book if I want to. It's self expression after all, and I quite often feel naughty!

there ARE measures of both...perhaps not precise and exact...they may flux and flow, but there really is a cloudy boundary for Art and Beauty

then may I find the cloudy boundary and stay on it's goos side
mines going well, having lots of fun and trying not to go spend lots of money
I keep thinking, I want new markers, paint, glue, string, ribbon I know if i do that my art will have broken the bank

To me, it looks like a marble countertop.

You might see it differently if you saw it in real life, with the shadows highlighting the textures of the paint.
These kinds of completely abstract works don't appeal to our story-telling needs but they are really satisfying to see anyway.
I do prefer recognisable images in visual art, but Pollack's paintings arouse a very wide variety of emotions- for me, at least. I fell into tears when I walked into a room with five of them- at the Chicago Art institute.

I have considered that seeing it in person might be much different. I just used it as an example because I know that it's a somewhat controversail piece

my book is going well , lot's of things going on in there. I guess there is an element of scrapbboking involved also, since this will be kind of a keepsake book for the BF, but it's so enjoyable. Last night I made a sex collage. Odd concept but fun, it heads up the erotica section of his book.
