I've noticed that quite a few folk here have an alter ego. I of course have one or two myself, most notably Match.

Who would like to talk about there admited alters, and why they chose to create a 'split personality' What does your alter give you that your original doesn't? Does one get neglected or ignored in the favor of another or do you give them equal time. What made you decide to be 'open' about the fact that the alter is you. Did you start out being completlty open about it, or did you start out wanting to give a different perspective, or wanting to try a different writing style or whatever and eventually decided to let the cat out of the bag. If you waited, was your coming out painful, difficult or scary? Or was it like 'oh by the way..."

this is just a fun thread, be as serious or silly as you want. Forgive doctor sweet for trying to crack open your head and look inside, he he he. You know how she loves to study human nature:) down here in the trenches:devil:

This is me, what you read is who I am.
Not sure if that's good or bad?

I think alters are kind of fun. Especially when they are sort of an 'open secret' like with ogg. He's told us, but sometimes there are people who don't know. There's one who's very obvous, but I don't know if she ever 'said' it or just let people figure it out. Given her propensity for sarcasm and so forth, I wouldn't put it past her to deny any relationship with venomence. Although it's obvious to most, I won't post her name cuz I don't know exactly were she stands on it, and I certainly won't be outing anyone against there will.:)

Gauche

So you have something to hide, hu?

If I ever find out...

I'll take it to my grave:p

Trust me:devil: Trust me:devil: Trust me:devil: Trust me:devil:

:p

Okay, I'll confess. My alter-ego is Pop.

Pop, parrott and all, is Gauchecritic in another dimension.

Word has it Gauche sometimes does business as Og.

As everyone knows, Oggbashan is Jeanne.

But what everybody doesn't know is she's really Perdita,
who is cleverly passing herself off as Sweetnpetite, a thinly
disgused alter-ego for MathGirl.

That means all of us may be DurtGurl--or something like that.

Don't forget the collective known as the Queen Snert.

Yep, folks, we're all one person, but the list is too long for me to remember them all......

My one other alter ego started by being simply an alternative name to login in lit chat, if my main one had been booted. It takes a few minutes for the ghost to vacate the premises, and sometimes you just can't wait. ;)

Later on I used that same name as a role-play character in a thread, and that is where she got a physical appearance, a personality, and other traits.

Finally, there was a challenge in the poetry board where everyone had to write a poem with a given name - we still do that regularly, these days - and I had written two of them, so I registered her and gave her one of the poems. Occasionally, I take her out for a ride, but basically she's just there for emergencies.

She has proven useful when I'm away for long periods of time and then have only a couple of minutes to check in. If I do it as myself I will lose all the 'new posts' markings, but if I login under her name, those markings will still be here for me when I have time to browse properly and with time. :)

PS: No, I'm not Sarahhh.

Thanks:) That was the best little chuckle I've had all day!

Now I finally know who all these voices inside my head are!

err, so really I'm talking to myself aren't I?

Unfortunately no alter ego here, I piss of enough people as myself.:p
On the other hand maybe I'm just blowing loads all over myself when I'm looking at Sweets AV's, nah, well maybe.
On the third hand, (that's the one I use to scratch that itch one can never reach,) maybe it's all just different sides of me.

susan

fact or fiction.. some days im not sure.

susan is my alter ego.. shes a bitch.. so when i get cranky.. i can blame everything on her..

she often comes out to play when i dont notice it.. sometimes when im writing, but the medications help..
*thanks Abs.. for the reminder

ask my kids.. they know susan well.. poor things..

really i have no alter ego.. *shut up now, im typing*
gatta put her down i think.. shes beginning to take over..

that could be a great story.. im ganna run with that.. thanks SnP.. i love new ideas!

Living through my teens in the Internet era, I used to have up to ten different alter egoes on the same communities, sometimes even fighting each other on bulletin boards and chatrooms. Having a discussion with yourself and two of three other people on IRC is an excersise in multi tasking that I never wish to repeat. :)

I'm older and wiser now, I hope.

I've tried one in the last month after reading a thread here. I don't use it on the boards (or only accidentally). I do have a link on it to my wishfulthinking page saying somethink like I have other stories on this site, but no links from my wishfulthinking page, and I doubt any of my regulars would come across my other id.

Why? Mostly because they are experimental stories (or I should say story, as the other one is pending), and I find the stories I've posted under wishful have cultivated a specific readership.

I've never used an alter ego and probably wouldn't be able to. I get very forgetful about what I'm doing online, and I'd probably sign dr. M. to the post.

Although if I had one I could play a SRP game with my alter and go fuck myself.

I'm not sure exactly what an alter ego is but I describe George Boxlicker as being mine. That is the name of the narrator in most of my stories. He has a sex life that would have been the envy of a medieval French king. Although the opinions he expresses are mine, the stories are not the least bit true or autobiographical. God, how I wish they were!!

I admit, I have one alter-ego, though it rarely shows. He never comes out often, often waiting months to come out but never sees the day. But when he does, he's a craaaaaaazy man on the dance floor.

on lit, it means a second (or more) profile.

tatelou and shock chick for example are the same person, ogg has that Jean character...

Get it?

Oh you mean that? Well... uh... yeah. I've only done that twice on one messageboard and that messageboard was not here. Sorry 'bout that.

It's not all it's cracked up to be, Mab. (You gave me a laugh though).

Rumply, I've missed you. You gave me a larf.

I'm only Perdita here. In real life I have several names, persona(e), faces, masks, etc. They all smoke.

Perdita
