What would people think of adding more story categories to the list?

I've got a story about a girl who gets involved in supernatural sex. Another about a housewife blackmailed into doing things she really wants to do. Another is sci-fi erotica. I'm not sure which category to post these under.

Consider a story in which a girl is forced into sex in which she soon becomes a willing and eager participant. In AASTM this is known as "reluctant" sex, but here we have no category for such.
Fine tuning our categries might make it easier for readers to find what they're looking for.

The way iI picture it, submitting authors would suggest a category, either form the existing list,or by proposing a new one. The site editors would decide whether the suggested category is valid enough to add to the list.

Would this entail a lot of extra work? What do people think?

Supernatural Sex = Nonhuman category, or Fantasy/SciFi

Blackmailed into things she want to do = nonconsent, BDSM, or possibly Loving Wives, depending on what it is she's being blackmailed into and who is doing the blackmailing.

the SciFi erotica = SciFi/Fantasy, or nonhuman -- depending on whether the sex is freefall or Rishathra (sp) (AKA sex with aliens.)

Laurel usually requires at least ten stories that fit into a new category before she'll create it. It is a good bit of work to crate a new catefgory and moved the stories that fit.

I'm opposed to a massive proliferation of categories, because it fragments the readership too much. If there is a significant and continuing demand for a new category then it should certainly be created.

However, your idea could result in a dozen categories with only one story each, as each author has a slightly different view of what belongs in each category -- as does each reader.

Based on what you mentioned, here is how I would categorize the stories:

- NonHuman: a girl who gets involved in supernatural sex
- NonConsent: a housewife blackmailed into doing things she really wants to do
- Sci-Fi & Fantasy: sci-fi erotica

But I do agree that the categories here are a problem at times. Many stories have themes from a number of the categories listed here. I stated my ideas in another thread though.
