Alliance

"Darling," she began, nodding at Izanna, "It's your pittance for signing. With those you may buy your own supplies for this journey."

Izanna looked up at Dani and smiled slightly, making sure not to show any teeth. It was becoming obvious that this was the alpha female, so Izanna figured she'd better be nice to her. She scooped the coins back into the little pouch and listened as Dani talked with the new man, who smelled a little like the stuff the others were drinking around the table, but not enough for her to associate that scent with him.

She listened as he told the story about a battle between his friends and the man Dani wanted to hunt. Suddenly Dani stood and showed a scar across her throat. Izanna's eyes widened and she stood up abruptly about to reach out for the scar on Dani's neck, when she caught the scent of smoke, ashes, and fire. She sniffed the air inquisitively.

A newcomer approached the table and Izanna sensed the strangeness even before they spoke. This person was not a normal female. Izanna backed up a step away from the table, her hand reaching back slowly for her spear. Dani had said that they all had to protect her, as part of the hunt. And this newcomer might be a threat.

Her hand closed tightly on the spear, her eyes never leaving the new female and Dani, who were talking calmly. Neither of their postures indicated any threatening intentions, so she waited to see what would happen. She remained on guard, cautious, listening. The smoky one called herself Yurioni, and Izanna's lips formed the name silently, as if trying to remember it. She'd never forget the scent and strange feel of her though.

Yurioni smiled at the woman's words and stepped forwards to claim the quill and parchment, her signature looked rather elegant. And again as with the other signatures it glowed before becoming scorched into the paper. There was part of Yuri that would welcome death, but not if she had not earned it through battle. "It is signed, I am now your indentured protector."

Stepping away from the table, she made a small bow before rising again with a smile on her lips. It was as if she had taken on another quest, one that would bring much bloodshed and more than enough combat for her to quench her thirst with.

"Elemental or no, once you sign the contract you are bound to me. Your human body cannot resist my magic, I'm afraid, and if I die so shall you."

The woman's words caused a flutter to erupt in Yuri's stomach. And she grinned even more substantially.

"It has always been part of my belief that if my human form dies I may be reunited in the elemental world, if that does not happen then so be it. But I do not fear death...I was not meant to belong here, yet don't want to leave prematurely."

With a careful glance around the table, her eyes fell on Izanna. The woman was tense that was to be noticed straight away, and defensive at the same time.

"You have signed already I see. You no longer need to worry about my intentions..."

Turning to take her place again leaning on the wall, she pulled her hood up again and crossed her arms. Content to watch at approaching strangers.

Franko Broga/ A fool's Errend

"Coin for blood. What say you, Yuri? Franko? Will you sign as well?"

Franko looks at her wearily. "While my friend's drunken speech could not have reached your ears, I think he was partly right in what he said. "A witch was raising an army. I truely think this is a fool's errend. While we will be a motley crew, maybe a motley crew will succeed where professionals have failed."

Franko looks around the table at the others. "We may not be brothers and sisters of blood, but I fear thay after this adventure we may see each other in that way. Combat brings out the best and wrorst in all. A hero one minute can turn and run the next. There is no shame in surviving combat. Live to fight another day raises an army out of ashes."

Franko looks at the scroll. "Another couple of things. You know my name though I never said it. I find this interesting. Also a pirate on land is no more then a highway man. A pirate at sea is a leader of men in his own element. If we go to sea, I hope you are supplying the ship and the cannon. I have been to sea twice. Neither was a voyage of enjoyment. To crew a ship is hours of real work. From sun up to sun down. And there is no where to run. Fight or die folks. This will be a fearfull journey, I dear say. But yes I will sign, as you say blood fer money. Our blood, your money."

Franko pulls the scroll closer picks up the feather qill and signs his name. retreives his bag of coins. Then raises from the table.

"I am Franko Broga, scout, I am no hero. Just a man who has seen life vanish in the blink of an eye. I will see you all in the morning at the gate. Ah, you see I know things too!"

Franko turns to leave and sees a woman smoking armed simularly to him. He smiles at her as he passes then stops and looks at her. He looks her up and down. "I hope you join us, you would make for a pleasing partner. I know to look beyond what a woman wears to know her worth. And you are worth a lot more then a bag of coin. I would be pleased to travel with you. Hope to see you in the morning." And with that said he turns and leaves as he came in.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifWhat were they doing?, the woman wondered. Each figure in turn appeared to hunch over something upon a table, passing it amongst themselves; could it have been a parchment of some kind? What were they writing? Her head was aswim with thoughts as she continued to watch and listen with great interest, her eyes focused most of all upon the woman who was at the center of it all. Why did she lift her head in such a way? What was she showing them? A mark? Who was she? Never had she wanted to get into anyone's head more so than this particular individual, to pry upon her thoughts and learn all that there was to know. Yet, like any novice would tell you, patience is a hunter's greatest tool; better to let the prey come to you than to scare it off with any sudden movements. So, until the moment was right, she would stay herself and continue to watch, at least until she could determine if the motives of this stranger were benign or not.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifWhen a barmaid passed by, she turned away for but a moment to lessen any act of suspicion that might have already befallen her, hoping to sate her hunger with another meal and calm her spirit with a temporary rest. Even then, she could not fully free herself from these people, as the site of another woman in a hood caught her attention, leaning against a nearby wall. She, too, appeared most peculiar, yet from her stride seemed to have an air of confidence about her, perhaps even bravado. The sound of a distant voice broke upon the crashing waves of noise all about her, as she looked towards a man who appeared to be speaking directly towards her. Based on outward appearances he was no different than any of the other rogues and vagabonds who dwelt within the tavern walls; yet even though his words sounded as tempting as a poisoned apple, she could sense something else within them as well. Taking a puff from the stick of pipeweed, she blew a ring of smoke at him before breaking away eye contact, her attention turned full back upon the woman at the center of all this wonder.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifWhy did she not simply let herself be known? The same reason one does not introduce oneself to a hungry bear when it is most active. Fear is what drove her this night; fear of the unknown. She hadn't stayed alive this long just to lose it all out of some pang of curiosity. She continued to bide her time, and wait until the moment was most opportune.

Kris watched as more and more people began to join the group, he listened to Yurioni
Tell Izanna she didn’t have to worry about her intentions. He listen to what Franko
Said about already being at sea but neither was enjoyable. If they did go to see he figured most of them who signed up may not have any experience working on a ship. He figured if they did need a ship it would be better to hire a crew and ship instead of trying it out for themselves.

Kris let his eyes fallow Franko as he left the table and went to talk to woman who was smoking a pipe. From what he could tell she was watching them closely she seem intrigue by them but she did not come up to them.

With one last bite of his food he finished his meal and pushed the plate in front of him.
“ Thanks for the meal DanI I‘ll take my leave as of now to gather some supplies” Kris replied as he stood up and replace his mask on top of his head. “ Izanna, Yurioni
, Carr, DanI,” He added as he got prepared to leave tp buy some supplies.

Something was bothering him he could feel a bloodlust coming from someone in the tavern. But it was hard to pin point who was emitting this deadly bloodlust. With one last look around the tavern he took his leave and walked out into the cool night air.

Kain was more interested in eating his rare steak which has still bloody and rare just the way he liked it. He kept his face hidden by a crimson hooded robe, even with the small candle the light it emitted was vary faint thus his facial features were hidden in darkness. He had his eyes fixed on the group of people gathering around a certain woman. She wasn’t hard on the eyes, nor where the other two at the table. he figured al three of them were screamers and he would like to stick his dagger into them.

Cutting the Steak with his knife and placing it into his mouth he let some of the blood and juices drip from his mouth. He was watching the others five men he didn’t care for if they got in his way during his fun they would die. A very slow death which he would enjoy their death screams as he would rape the girls. But one of them he was interested in, the second man who got up.

“ Kris Amaya” He whispered as he took a big drink from his mug. H could feel his blood boil just by looking at him. He quickly caught the attention of a barmaid and had her pour him another drink. She was cute, which he may have to settle on her she would be missed in this establishment. Many girls turned up missing.

Kain gave her a large friendly smile which caused the girl to blush and hurried away to her next customer.

“ Well she’ll do just fine” Kain replied as he licked his lips, but he would like more than anything to kill Kris. But he knew his abilities plus there others near him even though it would please him in killing everyone now was not the time.

Izanna relaxed somewhat as Yurioni reassured her after signing. If what Dani said was true, then no one who signed would want to do her any harm. Still, the one who smelled of smoke and ashes had said she would welcome death. Izanna let her posture relax a little, but remained ever watchful, nonetheless. She edged closer to Dani, standing slightly behind her as she watched the others.

The newest man to sign, 'Franko' he had said his name was, spent little time with them, taking the little pouch with the money and leaving. The dangerous man, Kris, also left, allowing Izanna to feel even more at ease. The group around the table was beginning to thin out, yet still she remained alert. Since scratching on the parchment with that feather, she had a growing feeling of protectiveness for her alpha female, Dani. It was confusing, because usually it was the alpha that took care of the pack, fed them, and led them. Dani had done the first, and was apparently ready to do the second, so that made her the alpha as far as Izanna was concerned. Yet she was beginning to feel a sense of protectiveness towards the girl, almost like a mother with her cubs. Was it the way she kept telling everyone that their lives were now connected to hers?

Izanna’s immediate focus was on the group around the table, but her peripheral attention was not missing much that went on nearby either. That’s why someone in the shadows, just at the edge of the group caught her awareness. This person was another female, and the scent brought to Izanna’s keen nose when the tavern door opened and a breeze wafted in reminded her in some ways of her relatives. There was the scent of wild places, soil, hides, and the cloying smell of the plant that her father used to smoke when she was a girl with a real family, long before she had been lost in that wild place where the pack had raised her. It brought back sweet memories of so long ago, when life for her was simpler and safer. She decided she liked the scent of this person.

There was something else about the female she liked: the way her indecisive reluctance to approach the group reminded Izanna of a rogue wolf wanting to join the pack. Sometimes they could be trouble, challenging the pack members one after another until the newcomer found their place in the scheme of things. But at least this was behavior that Izanna understood. She decided that if this new female joined the pack, she would be glad. She might be the only other ‘normal’ member of this strange pack. Without realizing it, a small plaintive whine, pitched almost too high for human ears, escaped her throat, intended as a welcome supplication for the new female to join them.

The group was slowly beginning to disband, and it seemed that everyone that left was happy to leave Dani without their guard. But Yurioni was far from that naive. What was to stop some bar fight from getting out of hand, or a horse breaking free and trampling this woman in the street. No, she would not allow accidents to also cut her own life short.

"Ma'am, considering that our lives are bound to yours, I would feel more comfortable remaining with you until the contract has been fulfilled, or we have failed. Whichever may come first. This may cause discomfort, but I take anything my signature or life is signed away to very seriously."

Turning to look down at the woman, she bowed her head again to show that even if her words were strict that she meant no disrespect. Her bag of coins still sat on the table, but for now she left it there. Maybe as a test, or maybe just because she didn't feel like moving back and forth every couple of seconds.

The Tavern was getting quieter, it seemed as it was getting late. Maybe once 'business' had been finished, they should retire to safe rooms for the night. Thinking about this, Yuri looked once again at Dani. Would this woman live nearby? Her fortunes were impressive, surely she had some lodgings that were elegantly decorated and safe.

"If you mind me asking, have you quarters nearby? Or are you yet to find a room?"

Kain watched as Kris left the table and stepped outside into the cool night. He could tell that the female who was next to him, the one who was dressed in tribe type of cloths. He saw that her body language became at ease when he left. Maybe he should go over there and introduce himself. If he did get hired he could torture Kris, which would be fun and them he would kill him.

With one last gulp from is mug he stood up and made his way towards the table. As he stood up everyone saw that on his back was a very long sword nearly as long as he was.

Just as he walked up he heard one of the females asked if there would be any quarters for them to stay in. If he was luck he may find out and visit one of them later that night.

“ It was wise of him to leave” Kain replied as he walked up to the table and sat his hand on the table. “ Two assassins in the same room usually spells trouble” he added with his best friendly smile. Which at the same time it looked creepy on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed his true intentions despite it being so calm and friendly.

“ If I may ask what brings you here to gather such interesting company.?” He asked DanI. he didn’t take a seat but looked straight at her. But his eyes soon wandered to the girl who sat next to Kris. If she didn’t like the way Kris felt she wouldn’t like him at all, but it would be fun to see her squirm if she did that.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifCuriouser and curiouser. The woman took in a long drag of her papelate as she watched one of the figures surrounding the woman hastily finish his meal and speaking to those gathered before leaving the tavern. Why such a sudden departure, she wondered? Did there appear to be a sense of worry in his movements? Concern? As she continued to watch, she had been mulling over the thoughts of tracking them were they to ever leave this town; if she could keep herself hidden while on their trail, then it would be a good test of her own abilities. She sensed that not only were several of these folk quite peculiar, but were likely possessed of some great power beyond her ken. If anything, her future actions against this group were likely to get her killed if she were not careful. It mattered not, in the end, as she had left a rather unfulfilling life that wouldn't have likely changed all that much should she have stayed the course. Besides, it's not like Greade would have missed her silent company, although she was beginning to feel some perverse enjoyment from the near torment her presence seemed to place upon him.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifHer restlessness could not be abated, however, and if there were to be any semblance of adventure in tracking this group she would most certainly find it. How could she not, after all? The more she watched them, the more she felt connected to them in some strange way. It didn't help that, upon catching the eyes of a young woman who had the look of the wilderness about her, she could have sworn she heard a high-pitched whine intended solely for her own ears. It would appear that the jig was up; she had tried to look as unassuming as possible, but if one stares at a group as long as she had eventually someone was bound to get suspicious. First there was the man that spoke to her, then the woman at the center of the group whom had noticed her sitting there, breaking upon her thoughts with a wave and a smile, and now this one. Once, in her youth, she had heard tales of folk who wandered and got lost, to be raised by the wilds as one of its own; was she such a person? Breathing out a long, slow stream of smoke she pondered such a notion. She had made the woods her home of her own free will, but to be raised by them was another matter entirely. Although she was human of form, would this not make her more animal in spirit? Such a creature would have the potential to a ranger's greatest ally.. or deadliest foe.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifShe broke off eye contact when a figure dressed in crimson robes approached the table, taking note of both the winking woman and the wild one. The large sword slung upon his back was a clear indicator that he was one of tremendous strength, yet deep beneath her eternal frown she couldn't help but feel a spark of amusement. She, herself, held a sword of great size, and she could have sworn she saw a similar piece being carried by the distant woman who radiated that feeling of bravado. It would seem that such weapons were popular in the area, but when one does possess such strength it is only natural to use a weapon that could utilize it to its full potential, be it a hammer for crushing or an axe or sword for slicing. The idea of wearing clothing the color of blood so openly piqued her interest, however, but perhaps he was yet another figure of great confidence. Setting her papelate down against a plate of food that was presented before her and began to consume her meal, finding it to be nor less bland than the beasts she hunted in the woods. Still, it sated her appetite, although it did nothing for her mind. Her nerves could not be steadied in the presence of this group, yet she knew that, were she to leave the tavern, the feelings would only grow worse. She silently cursed herself as she ate, keeping her eye on the woman whom started this whole thing.

Izanna's attention to the curious 'rogue wolf' female was broken suddenly by the approach of another man. He had the look and 'feel' of the dangerous one, but worse. He also had the stench of old death, blood, and decay about him. The closer he came, the more her hackles raised. Her lips curled into a full snarl, and she didn't even try to hold back out of politeness for the humans. She stepped closer to Dani and stood a little in front of the girl, her amber feral eyes locked on this newcomer. She gripped her spear tighter as he came closer.

She heard him speak in a low, soft tone as he smiled, trying to project a friendly demeanor. But his eyes and his posture held menace, and for Izanna, that counted for far more than the false tone or smile. His smile seemed more like a baring of teeth in preparation for an attack, and his words reminded her of the rattle of the slithering ones just before they struck.

Her own posture stiffened as she stood rigid, barely holding herself back. From deep in her chest, a low growl emerged, growing slowly in volume and warning. It was a fear response, more than bravado. She felt cornered in this small place, and already ill at ease here. His presence only made it worse. But creatures of the wild were often at their most dangerous when they felt fearful or cornered, and Izanna was no exception. Years of living with the pack had taught her to behave like them, and to think like them. Her body tensed in preparation for her new alpha's signal to attack.

Carr sit silently as one adventurer after another leave the table. He just nod to Kris as the man go to gather some supplies. Carr feel a little unsure of his decision to sign the contract. It was not like him to put his life in the hands of another. His life had always been dangerous. The difference between that and this was that, now he didn’t have a way out. The only thing he could do was keeping Dani out of harms way. The group she had gathered seemed solid enough. Only time would tell if if they would succeed.

His thoughts are interrupted by a man dressed in a crimson hooded robe with a big sword on his back. Carr sit up straight in his chair. Nothing about this man was appealing to him. The man’s voice when he spoke was adding to Carr’s dislike toward him. Izanna’s reaction was a confirmation that it was not only he who felt this way. The man did not even notice Carr sitting there. At least he did not pay any attention to him.

“And you are?” Carr ask bluntly. His hand grip the hilt of his short bladed sword under the table. He try to make the move as discreetly as he can. He look briefly at the protective Izzana before turning his gaze toward the man again.

"Better be quick to answer or this might become ugly." Carr nod toward Izanna. He tenses a little and are ready to act quickly if it is necessary.

Lionhead Tavern

Franko moves back the way he came through the village. As he approached the Lionhead Tavern a skinny man runs up to him. "Franko, is it true! Greade is leading 1000 warriors against an army of monsters coming here on the backs of dragons?"

Franko tries hard not to laugh. He smiles at the man." Yes Durduco, better tell your wife to set a few more plates around your table, I just got word they will be here in just four days." The man's eyes opened wider as he turns and rush back toward his house. "Blika, Bilika, pack up we have just four days till the monsters get here, Bilika do you hear me!"

Franko chuckles and shakes his heads as he enters the Lionhead Tavern. At the same table he left them sit Hablin and Rosilla. Hablin has one of Rosilla's breasts out and he is playing with her nipple. He looks up at Franko and pulls his hand away. "Hey Franko, whats going on?"
Franko looks at him and frowns and shakes his head. He opens the bag he got and drops 40 coins on the table.

"Hablin I need traveling supplies a traveling pack and enough arrows to fill my quiver. 20 at least and I need it all by morning." Hablin shoulders sag. "By morning, Franko, oh hell no sleep again tonight!"
Franko pushes the cions at Hablin." Go, go!" Hablin collects the cions and puts them in his pockets. "Ok buddy, by morning." Hablin stands and waves good bye and walks out of the tavern.

Franko looks at Rosilla. She is slipping her breast back in to her shirt. "We go to bed now Franko?" she askes.

"Yes Rosilla, we go to bed now." Franko exstends a hand down to her. She takes it and he pulls her up. They walk toward the stairway leading up stairs.
"I suck your spear when we go to bed, Franko?" she askes sleepily. They climb the steps.

"Yes Rosilla, you can suck my cock when we get to bed." She smiles and grabs the front of his pants. " I'm going to miss you while your gone Franko!" she says looking at the bedroom door.

Franko opens the door" I'm going to miss you Rosilla, I'm going to miss you too!"

Like the rest of the group, Yurioni did not like the feeling the new crimson man gave off. But unlike the outward Izanna and the blunt Carr, she did not make a movement. It was up to Dani whether or not this man needed to be 'removed' from the premise. Yet with alertness, Yuri was prepared to ignite that crimson robes alight if he made any move. If he was innocent then she would feel slight guilt but it would hardly worry her. But if he was guilty of plotting evils towards Dani then she would be swift. He was already encroaching on dangerous territory by standing a tables length away.

Yurioni stayed where she way, leaning against the wall. But inside she could feel the want to unleash the flames building. Was this just her preparing, or was it something deeper making up her mind for her. Was it that time of the cycle? No, it was several moons away still.

The cycle tracked her moods, and every half year she would burn hotter than a volcano. Her lust would be uncontrollable, but so would her temper. Her want to burn everything around her. The tavern would be destroyed in mere moments if she burst. Burning it into ashes.

No, it was still too early. It was just her new nerves.

Turning to look at the new man, she found the colour of his robes complimented her eyes and hair. But instead of settling on him, she moved her eyes to gauge Dani's reactions. Ready to move, but not willing to jump the gun. He wouldn't get far towards unsheathing that sword though. The tension in everyone was high enough and on edge, they would sooner make a mistake and slay a man, than let him harm Dani.

One life, or a handful. The math was simple.

Kain stared at both Dani and the girl next to her, he watched as she the girl got into a tensed position ready to strike. He could hear a low growl coming from her, like a wild animal. He attuned it being like a wild dog or a wolf maybe he was curious would she fight like a wild animal or more like a human.

He almost forgotten the men that sat at the table he found the women more interesting then them. He listen to him ask and you are, he saw it the man moved his arm slightly moved he wasn’t sure what he was reaching for but he figured it was a weapon.

He didn’t really care to give it out, well not yet anyways, he found it more amusing when the man said he should b quickly to answer or it could get ugly.

“ Me well you could say I’m like your friend who just left” “ My name is Kain” He replied. Looking at the man “ But if things do get ugly how many innocent bystanders will you left get hurt” He asked the man nodding to the handful of patrons still in the tavern. He could tell that the girl next to the one who acted as the leader was ready for a fight. He saw here bare her teeth at him she had a hint of fear in her eyes but she wouldn’t back down. Most people who were afraid of him wouldn’t make eye contact they would try to look away or he could see shivers run up and down their bodies.

“ I’m not an enemy if that’s what you think I am” Kain replied with a smile still on his face. “ In fact I could be a better ally than Kris if the pay is good along with something on the side” he added with a sly grin on his face.

Kris soon found himself wandering around the town, only stopping at stores looking at there wares. He only bought what he needed despite the owners trying over charge him he was able to get a good deal. He bought a medium sized traveling pack, spare cloths, some medical items, he also bought some minor food items. Even though he didn’t need it he bought a pipe and some tobacco. Kris didn’t smoke that often but he could use it as a distraction if needed. If was a nice one It was like the one who his teacher. It was a little longer and thinner also the bowel was smaller. The tobacco was also more finer than the usually tobacco.( http://www.flickr.com/photos/50191967@N08/5423717282/in/photostream/ )

Kris soon found himself walking in familiar part of town, it was where you could find almost anything you want. There were also many pleasure that could be found. Kris soon found himself looking at a large building smoke coming from a stack and the sound of pounding of a hammer could be heard. As Kris walked into the front porch he could see a old man pounding away forming the metal into a sword. With each strike sparks flew lighting up the area around him. Despite his age the ma was still physically fit as Kris walked in the man turned and looked at him and gave him a nod.

As Kris walked in he saw many weapons finished, all of them which were finely crafted by a master smith.
“ its been a while assassin” The old smith replied as he stopped hammering and quenched the blade into a water bin.

“ yes it has been old man” Kris replied as he took a seat on a large log and watched the smithy add the finishing touch to it. “ what do you think ? ” he asked Kris as he tossed the sword to him.

“ it’s a good blade its well balanced” Kris replied as he handed to sword back to the old man. As he did he saw another sword a nodachi type on hinges hanging on the wall, the scabbard looked old and worn. Wrapped around it was a long piece of cloth, even the cloth looked old and worn with the ends being tattered.

“ So what’s with this sword” Kris replied as he picked it up and drew the blade pat way. As he did he saw that the blade was in fine condition despite the scabbard looking worn. what strange was that it was hilt to it.

“ My last apprentice made it, a group came by wanting a ceremonial sword I wasn’t around thus he made it.” he replied as he stood up and wiped the sweat from his brow. “ it’s a evil sword” “ When he was finished with it he didn’t want to give it up thus he killed the people who came to pick it up.” the smith replied “ after which he became insane and attacked anyone that came near him” he added as he took the sword from kris “ do you like it” he asked as he unsheathed the sword and looked at it.

“ Its has a nice blade, its well made” Kris replied as he gave a yawn

“ If you like then its yours” he replied as he sheathed the sword and handed it back to Kris “ a gift from a old friend

“ Why” Kris asked as he took the sword in his hands

“ well I wont be long for this world” he stated as he took a drink from a mug “ My age is catching up to me” he added “ an I know you, you wont be back to this place for long time” he said “ If there’s anything else you need take it just leave the money on the table” the smith replied as he walked through a door.

Kris gave on last look around the room, not seeing anything he needed he slowly pulled out a platinum coin and placed it on the table.

“ Well see you around old timer” He replied as he walked off in search for a room to stay in.

Smiling to herself, Yurioni listened in on the conversation. Looking for the hints in voice tone that might indicate some distaste or bad intentions towards Dani.

"And what devious thoughts have you in mind for 'on the side', Kain?"

Her question was posed with a slightly interested tone, but for the most part seemed more curious as to how his mind was working at this precise moment. Remembering his previous comments about the tavern, she chuckled to herself quietly.

"I doubt many men or women walk this earth and remain innocent, sir. If they die, then they will be judged according to their lives, not their deaths. Unfortunate of course, but far from something I would let interfere with in my ventures. Now, you say you'll be a better alley than Kris. He has not mentioned you. Should he have?"

((Just keeping the thread active, sorry for the crap reply.))

( its alright DormantEvil)

“ I’ll let your imagination run wild, its always good to see what people come up with” Kain said as he looked at Yurioni. “ I could think up many things I would like to do to you” he added as he licked his lips.
(its alright

" your right but what do yu say about the little ones" he asked as he nodded towards the window. out side where two little kids dressed in ragged cloths running around having fun.

“ Me a better ally than Kris” “ Well’ he added as he thought about it for a while, he stood there silenced for the moment before speaking up.

“I’ve been doing this job for along time out of all the people I’ve killed he is the only one I failed to kill.” Kain replied as he tossed his hood back and looked at all of them.

“Just a little advice you may find trouble on your journey” Kain replied with a smirk on his face. As he turned to walk away he grabbed the barmaid he liked and dragged her off with him to a inn.

“ But I do wonder which of you ladies he likes” Kain added as he turned to them and gives them all a somewhat wicked smile.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifThe life of a ranger was not an easy one. The comforts of the town, the soft glow of the lights pouring out from every shop and street light, the warmth of a friendly embrace.. those all had to be discarded in favor of the cold atmosphere and unyielding solitude of the wilderness. There, the beast was king, and a man would be treated no more favorably than the countless denizens that crawled over every rock, scurried up every tree, flew through the unconquerable skies of the world. In such a place the laws of the common folk held no sway; only one, unbroken rule was recognized by all: kill or be killed. If you held back your sword-arm or refused to pull taught your bow string out of pity or mercy, you would quickly find yourself without a meal.. or, worse, starring down the muzzle of a wild animal that would have no such qualms about you. Only the strong and the wise could survive in such a desolate realm; only a ranger could know the secret paths that gave one a quick escape, or find the luscious fruits of nature that could sustain a person with strength for the day's journey. The young woman had spent all of her life in the wilds, learning from whomever was willing to teach, remembering the experience of her failures, and growing mightier with each breath she took. She had come this far without her life being claimed by some nameless beast, and she certainly wasn't about to let it be so without a fight.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifThe crimson fellow appeared to be ruffling some feathers at the distant table, as both the wild woman and a stern man readily armed gave off the look of one on the edge. Even she could feel the growl given off by her kindred spirit, even if hearing it from her location was difficult; the barring teeth, the cool stare.. much like a particular wildcat whom had crossed her path during her more foolish years. For a moment, she began to think back to her youth and wondered how she had managed to survive up until this point; no matter how much she practiced the craft of her swordplay and archery, no matter how strong she built her body, she felt as though It was never enough. No, thoughts of self doubt had no place in this tavern at this very moment with all eyes of the group placed upon the newcomer, and would only serve to weaken her resolve and cloud her judgment. Leaning against the table, she grabbed a scorched animal bone with her off hand, covered in the cooked flesh of its former owner, bringing it to her mouth to take a large bite out of it. Indeed, if there was one thing about the ranger's life that pleasured this woman, it was the sensation that came with savoring the rewards of a kill, sinking your teeth into the flesh of your enemy and tearing it to pieces. She wiped the simmered blood of her meal from her chin, her eyes focused ever more intently on the group than before, her heart beat echoing within her ears as she readied herself to retaliate against any false movement.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifAlthough the meal was well suited to her palate, it was still a part of her ruse; with the elbow of her offhand situated upon the table and her arm well in view, her primary hand had slipped behind her, grabbing hold of one of the two daggers she kept with her for just such an emergency. She preferred the bow or the sword when it came to true confrontations, but she was skilled enough with the use of these small blades and they had served her well in times past. The only thing that could have worried her was the thought of the man in red surviving a knife in the back, but even if he showed barely a hint of pain she believed it would give the others the opportunity needed to cut him down. This kind of prey was the kind she loathed the most, the ones who put themselves out of their way to terrorize the weak for no other purpose than to show off one's superiority. Such animals deserved a slow and painful death, and her spirit burned with ferocity as she imagined ending such a creature. So why didn't she go through with it? One throw is all it would take, one strike to finish it. Perhaps in her growing wisdom she was beginning to understand that a needless death was the greatest crime; after all, despite the foul vibes he had been radiating, there was always the possibility that he was innocent of any misgivings, and that killing him for no other reason than a false hunch would, in the end, make her the monster. As the woman fought with the inner turmoil between her heart and her mind, she watched the man pull back his hood, speaking something to the group with a nasty grin before taking hold of a barmaid and departing the tavern with a few last words.

http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/indent.gifAs she returned her dagger to its home she felt uncomfortable breathing a sigh of relief, making sure that she kept her eyes on him as much as possible until the sight of him had been completely lost. Perhaps she was being paranoid, but the atmosphere of the room felt lighter than it had been. Returning to her meal she tried her best to clear her thoughts, praying that she would not end up cursing her indecision somewhere down the road...

Izanna glared at the man in red, he who smelled of death and fetid decay. She was aware only in the background of her consciousness of Yurioni and Carr talking to the man, and also that he spoke back to them. But their words held no meaning for her. She only had eyes for this threat standing before her. His posture and presence said more important things than the words he said.

As he kept looking over at her, she felt her hackles raising even more. He seemed to be directing his words to her alpha and the smoky one mostly, but his attention was divided between them and her. She smelled no fear scent from him, so she didn't believe he was intimidated by her threat display, but maybe he was just being cautious in case she attacked.

And oh, how she wanted to! She disliked this person, and wanted nothing more than to get him away from her alpha, even if it would go badly for her. But Dani's hand on her from behind held her in her place, although just barely. Finally, the man moved away, and she began to settle again, though still wary of his return and of any other threats. She made a strong effort to let the tension drain from her muscles, but there was no relief for the adrenaline that had flooded her system. She glanced warily at Yurioni, now at least satisfied that the smoke scented one would also protect Dani, as would Carr. It made her feel better about that unnatural one. Just a little better.

Still, Izanna wished her alpha would leave this smelly place of the humans. She wanted to feel the wind on her face and in her hair again, and let it blow away the stink of this place. How good the night air would feel on her skin as it brought to her nose the fresh smells of the forest pines, the earthy pungency of the soil and the whispering voice of the wind to her ears.

She turned back towards Dani, licking her lips in an instinctive attempt to smooth over her ruffled nerves. As she turned, her amber gaze caught the eyes of Carr, the hunted one. Some measure of understanding seemed to pass between them. They had all three been ready to defend Dani, but Carr was human, and she understood him more than Yurioni. He smelled and felt 'natural' to her.

As the crimson man who identified himself as Kain left, Yurioni turned her gaze back over the tavern. The children outside could be heard, and she smiled to herself. Only six or so years ago her 'vessel' would have been doing the same thing. Of course dressed much more presentable and already studying her books. It had not been enough for her though.

"Again, they will be judged accordingly on the other side."

She whispered to herself, having little care for the humans lives. All apart from the one who would lead her into a great battle. The children would probably die through the next few winters anyway, or by illness, or the savagery of the world.

"I would be greatly displeased if 'may' was the descriptive term of if we found trouble or not."

Her eyes once again brushed over the woman who sat at a table across the tavern, she gave off a feeling. The others did not. The feeling was not one of obliviousness, but of recognition. That Yurioni, Carr, Dani and Izanna existed. Even if it was nothing more than mere noticing them. But her intentions were unknown, and she did not appear to give off a sense of tension towards the group. So instead of staring at her any more than she would the other patrons, Yurioni looked down at her crossed arms. Waiting patiently until Dani was finished in this place.

Carr did not correct this man Kain, when he spoke of civilian casualties. When Carr warned him of things that might become ugly he did not mean himself. He meant Izanna. She had the look of a wild animal, ready to protect her young or leader. If she did attack Kain, Carr would have no option but to help her. He was pretty sure that they all would.

He listen to Kain and Yurioni talking while keeping an eye on Izanna. One move from her and Carr would try and bury his sword in Kains chest. After a moment the man turn to leave without any bloodshed. Carr take a deep breath and manage to relax a little.

His eyes meet Izanna's and in that short heartbeat there is an understanding flowing between them. They both know that they would have defended Dani with their lives.

"That was unpleasant." He mumble to himself. He watch Izanna and think that she look a little calmer.

"You alright?" He ask her.

"You alright?" He asked her.

Izanna looked over at Carr with more intensity. She had appeared to be yawning repeatedly, and licking her lips. It wasn't because she was tired; it was a very canine stress relief gesture, meant to let go of her pent up adrenaline. It wasn't physically necessary for her human form, of course, but it was habit. The better part of her life was spent among the Pack and she had learned their ways, including their expressions, mannerisms, directness.......and instincts. Now she had a new instinct possessing her.

In answer to his question, she gave sort of a blowing out of air, puffing her cheeks outward in a short huff. Among her Pack mates, it was an acknowledgment; simply a way of saying she recognized Carr as an equal and a member of her pack, and was generally in agreement with him. Her feral amber eyes stared at him intently, not in a challenging way, but as if taking his measure. Her hunger had been sated, the danger had passed, and now a new basic instinct took over. Without warning, she moved around the table approaching him closely, sniffing, circling him.

His scent told her his recent history, his state of health, and definitely his masculine potency and suitability for mating. She knew he had recently been with a female and had mated. The scent peaked her interest and caused a primal heat to rise within her loins.

For several intense moments she sniffed him closely, slowly circling around behind him, leaning in so close that he could feel the heat of her breath on his neck. Finally she leaned in close and nudged him gently, rubbing against him. Of course, only the alpha female was allowed to mate in a pack, and Izanna knew this. Still, these humans weren't exactly like a real pack; she just tended to think of them that way. And Dani didn't seem to act quite like an alpha should. Maybe.....

A low whine, pleading, sounded from right beside Carr's ear. Izanna looked intently over to Dani, seeking her approval.

Closing her eyes, Yurioni let out a slow and calm sigh. The night was going to be a long one, and she could not afford to relax with her own life now attached to Dani's. Hearing footsteps, she opened one eye and peered at Izanna. The girl was acting rather odd. But after watching her for a few moments Yurioni couldn't help but chuckle.

"Down girl..." she whispered, crossing her arms and turning away to look at the rest of the tavern.

The display made her feel uncomfortable for some reason. She wasn't sure if it was the heat that rose inside her due to anger, or the heat her human half was producing. But it was no matter, for now she was content to simply stay on guard.

Across the room she observed a conflict growing. It seemed several patrons with bellies full of ale were feeling bigger than themselves. They had congregated around the bar, intent on disturbing a rather large fellow from his meal. It didn't take much poking and prodding to get a reaction though. With one backhand, the large man sent one of the other men across the room. Coming straight at the table Carr and Dani were seated at, he was going to smash into it.

Stepping forward, Yurioni grabbed the man by the shirt, stopping him from falling.

It didn't seem to make a difference in his mind though, and he cursed her and threw a lazy punch. Letting him go she stepped back, easy ducking the arm. He seemed to dislike this even more and threw two more punches. Each one was avoided. Then he yelled loudly and picked up a glass bottle, and went to break it on the table.

With quick reactions she stepped up to him and took him by the wrist, punching him hard in the nerve cluster under his arm. He howled, and dropped the bottle. Letting him go with a solid shove backwards, she grabbed the bottle.

As he regained his footing, he charged at her. Giving him a cold look, she spun around and planted her foot square in the center of his chest. Flying backwards into a window, he broke straight through it and went out into the street.

Placing the bottle on the table, she dusted off her clothing and returned to her position at the wall. Closing her eyes again. This place bored her quickly.

Izanna was damn hard to read. For Carr that was quite strange as he had always praised himself as an observant man. He had to be that to survive. In this group of adventurers he could read none of them. While Kain had been there Carr had understood Izanna perfectly. Her body language had spoken volumes. Now that the threat was over he understand less.

Her yawning was a sort of sign that she was relaxing. When he ask if she is alright she puff her cheeks outwards in a short huff. Exactly what it mean he can not be sure of, but he think it mean she is okay. Then Izanna change. She stare at him with an intent that wasn't there before. The intensity in her eyes as they meet his, make Carr sit up straighter in the chair again.

When she made her move it was sudden. He was not sure how to react as she circle and sniff him. Carr sit absolutely still as she move closely behind him. A few moments later he feel her breath against the sensitive skin of his neck. The warmth make him get goosebumps on his arms. When she gently nudge him and start to rub against him, Carr let out a shaky breath.

He can feel the body heat of her. Carr sit still as he hear Izanna make a low whining noise right next to his ear. He feel shivers down his spine.

A fight break out but Carr is barely aware that Yurioni hinder a man from falling right over their table. Carr's senses are totally locked on Izanna. He can feel her but not see her and his body are tense. He had always been careful around animals, at this moment she seemed to be one more than before.

His breathing are erratic as his body react to the closeness of hers. This was a strange feeling. Carr slowly turn his head to face her once again. His hope are that he will be able to read her eyes and find out her intention.
