what's your take on Rita Lasar the 70 year old sister of the the man who stayed on the 27th floor of the World Trade Centre with his parapalegic friend, Ed. He could easily have saved himself but instead they died together. George made a special mention of him in his speech of 14 September which horrified Rita.

She could see that George was going to use her brother's death as an excuse to go to war and after Afghanistan was destroyed she visited that country and met many of the bereaved relatives of innocent Afghans. People who have sent letters to the US Embassy asking for help and who have been turned away.

At 70 Rita has become a leading anti-war activist.

So how do you view her? An ordinary woman a year ago but now, after seeing the destruction America caused in her brother's name, a vocal opponent of her country's aims.

Would you join in support of her.

Or say "shit happens"?

Did 'Rita" go visit all the women the taliban stripped liberties away before they took hold of that country?

No?

Why not?

Did she visit all the relatives of the people executed in the nice national stadium built with UN aid?

How about the Kurds gassed buy Iraq?

Misdirected grief...

She has just channeled her grief toward a cause, just like the an "anti-gun" crusader does after losing a relative to a drive-by. She had an obvious bias to begin with as anyone with half a brain knows the atrocities commited in Afghanistan by those before the US counter-terrorist action.
I channel my grief over the WTC/Pentagon/Flt 93 murders by supporting any effort to track, capture, or kill anyone connected with the acts, and make sure that no one slanders any part of that mission, or the participants.

*You can go nose up to the clerics that are meeting in your area on 9/11, and help them plan their next propaganda strategy. :D

A bit arrogant of you old boy isn't it? So you're now saying that America destroyed Afghanistan because they were bad men who didn't treat their women right. But then you're one of those Americans with tunnel vision.

Oh very convenient for you. I doubt if you still grieve if you ever did. You probably felt, like most of us, a strong emotional shock...

But grieve?

With every bandwagon, there's always a jumper waiting in the wings.

I prefer to be called a Hawk, not a pro-war supporter.

We would then call anti war people Doves.

Nice and simple isn't it Uncle PP?

I dont care what she sez.

Nuke em all and let Satan sort it out. War is good for the economy, invest your kids today!

peepeeman, Rita also said...........

She met you while in England, and that you attempted to have sex with her. She further stated that your sex, much like your threads, was extremely premature, and that you should be called weepeeman. She was then quoted as saying " I actually fell asleep while he was telling me how good it would be. His telling me took 15 minutes...........the act took less than 2! I can't remember being more disappointed.......but then, I am 70, and there are lots of things I don't remember............what were we talking about again?"

I suppose the US should not have involved itself in hauling England's ass out of the fire when Germany was knocking you around.

We should have not done anything when Hitler was gassing and executing Jews.

We should not do anything now that Saddam is gassing and executing Kurds.

Better to mind our own business.

By the way- I am not a war supporter. I don't think that waging an all out war fest is the way to handle this, but I DO think we must do something.

The only people who keep the Second World War alive in peoples' minds are Americans like yourself who keep raising the subject whenever anyconflict is mentioned where there is a difference of opinion between the US and Europe..

The rest of us forgot all about it years ago.

But then I suppose it is one of the great wars that America was in on the winning side. Everything else since, you seem to have lost. The Gulf War wasn't exactly against a difficult opponent so that doesn't count, Afghanistan could never be called a real war, and even that isn't over yet and Grenada...well that's just a joke...

I've decided to base all my opinions on media sound bites, since they're the same thing as policy.

Not.

Fascinating!!! I wonder if you consider Britain one of the victors of WWII. I do not.

Hitler vowed to destroy the British Empire if it mettled in his plans for the continent.

I think that any reasonable person would conclude that the empire of 1950 little resembled the one of 1939, and that going broke fighting WWII was the culprit.

Amazing that all the destruction we caused in Afganistan was due to the brother of a 70 year old woman

No way!!!!

You mean to tell me that pp still hasn't been downgraded to REDWAVE of Yoyo status?

*shaking my head and walking away*

You are a grateful bunch, aren't you? You are a free nation, instead of a conquered one. Yawn. These boring technicalities.

As to Saddam on the other hand... he wasn't strong enough against the most powerful nation in the world. But against Britain? Or France? Let alone Denmark... Hah!

Don't denigrate what you couldn't do...

I know, I know... I shouldn't feed a troll...

And Argentina gave you Brits SUCH a hard time. But of course that was a totally justified war - you know, those islands were SO much closer to Britian then Argentina. Could it have been the - gasp - offshore oil fields that prompted the largest post WWII naval invasion in history?

BTW - everyone else from GB, I AM an anglophile. The anti-American BS just gets my goat. Please, no offense to the rest of you.

I am a Hawk

As i go through this week I was feeling rather calm about sept 11. untill i got home and read this thread that you ppman started. and maybe i should let you all know how I feel and tell you a little about myself. i am 20 years old i live in NJ 9 miles from where the WTC stood. I have a clear view of th NYC skyline and I watched both planes hit and both tower come down from my front porch. I watched fire engines race down the highway fom all surrounding towns head towards NY. I watched my Neighbors cry cause there son was in one of the towers.I felt concern for my friends who work in buildings that are near there. I watched as a crowd of people attacked and arab man cause he was celebrating the towers fall. I went to a Dunkin Donuts where the Arab owners were using the American Flag as a doormat and watched as he called my friend who is a US Marine a coward, the next day the donuts shop was burned to the ground and the owner put in the hospital. There were gangs of people roaming through the Streets of Paterson and Newark beating anyone seen celebrating the attacks. The sounds of US fighter jet flying over head could be heard all day and night. there were people I knew that died there, Am I angry? hell yeah I am. did I demand revenge? yes I did and im not the only one and yes I would fight for this country. I believe that in the case of Sept 11 that Might Makes Right. I also feel that there is nothing wrong with diplomic ways also but in the end its also good to have a "Big Stick" to wave around. and it wasent just her brother who lost his life that day about 4000 other people lost there lives too what about the feelings of there families? Yes I am a Hawk and I come from a long line of fighters who searved this country and im proud of both. oh and frogot about World War 2? guess Britain likes to froget about how we saved your country and continent twice wthin 20 years but i know the rest of Europe hasent frogoten about it.

ok ill stop ranting now sorry people

As I said it's only you Yanks who keep bringing it up.

But then again you are stuck in a glorified past. Christ you even cheat on your war games to make sure the US wins...

And whilst we're on the subject I hear much about the war in Vietnam. But I doubt if many of you have heard about the British war in Malaysia. Same political enemy, same terrain, same time...

The only difference is we whupped their arses whilst you fled home...
