Sunday morning and I’ve managed to unbox and assemble my brand spanking new Weber Spirit just now. Took me an hour and 55 minutes in total. A tonne of packaging. So much packaging, that it took me 35 minutes just to unbox and get rid of all the rubbish.

Installed the BILT assembly app as instructed. I couldn’t believe how easy this thing was to assemble. The app is great. 3D instructions. Assembly was actually quite enjoyable. Everything lined up. Well made.

Cheering. What a thing of beauty. I love it.

It’s a bit tricky to upload photos, but I’m doing my best. Really happy with this gasser.

Didn’t realise it came with a griddle plate which is awesome.

Jutt, she’s perfect.

Awesome! I knew you'd like it! Things assemble well when they are made well. I'm looking forward to seeing the delicious food that comes off of it.

I have a griddle insert for my Weber Mastertouch. I've never used it, so give me some inspiration and insight.

Congratulations!

P.S. How long did you fight for that PS5? I scratched and clawed and gouged for a year to get mine.

Fucking Sony.

Looks great! What is the first thing going on the BBQ?

It’s a great little unit.

Good question. I think I’m going to go with the little black dress. Steak. Bone-in strip steak. Medium rare. Go some New Zealand wine. Today would’ve been a perfect day but I have a list of things to do today.

I want to try a bit of everything. Snags, of course. Lamb loin chops. Seafood. Fish and prawns and green lipped mussels. It’s going to be good!

I love it! I rang my brother this morning and told him I’d assembled the new bbq and he said, “That’s the most lesbian thing you’ve ever said to me.” :D

I’ll throw steak and fish on that insert for sure. Isn’t it just a really nice looking bbq, though. I’m thinking cover and rotisserie. They’ll have to come soon.

That’s my second PS5. I raffled the first one off. Pre-ordered online and waited maybe a week? Half the battle is knowing how to get one.

If you don't live in, or have visited Kansas City,
Then you have no idea as to what BBQ is...

But enjoy the hell out of whatever it is you're doing.
Nothing tastes as good as hot off the grill,
even the veggie sides.

I have spent time in and live 3 hours away from KC, and the best BBQ I've had is straight off of my little smoker in the back yard. Don't get me wrong, I've had great stuff in KC, St Louis and throughout Texas, but KC doesn't have a say in how good the BBQ is. It's all subjective to taste and opinion. I prefer mine, yet very much appreciate others.

The rotisserie is to be coveted! Endless, great things, can be done with a rotisserie!

If you want some smoke flavor, I just put some soaked wood chips in some aluminum foil, poke some holes in it and throw it right on the burners. Sometimes, just a touch of smoke is all it needs.

Don't forget, there are no mistakes. It's not "burned" when it's black, just some extra flavor for the bark..

I have a Genesis 11, bought it in 2018.

Great BBQ and don't listen to the Americans who say it isn't BBQ, the rest of the world refers to outdoor grilling of just about anything as BBQ, the US not so much.

Great little grill. I've had a Spirit for six years. Throwing some steaks on it this evening.
And don't listen to anyone trying to define barbecue, noun or verb. Just come to Lexington, NC before you judge.

I have a bullet smoker, which could probably feed around 50 people quite easily, as well as a little kettle Weber bbq, a hibachi grill and now this one. Gas is great for hard and fast. Instant heat. Snags. The smoker is amazing for low and slow. Brisket and ribs etc. Kettle is great to sit around.

I was expecting a thread about russian tanks and how they are great at BBQing orc.

disappointed.

My neighbor has a natural gas Weber Spirit 3-burner that is at is 15 - 20 years old. He has it bolted down on the edge of his deck. It's weathered over 100 mph winds in the winter. It's still working well. My natural gas Weber Genesis is not bolted down, but I have it secured to the building when it's not being used because I had to rebuild it once after the wind took it and smashed it. I was amazed at how easy it was to rebuild and how easy the parts were to obtain. Weber makes a damn fine grill. You can't go wrong with a Weber grill.

I can get Aussie beef at C&J Tender Meats. They are a great local butcher.

I grilled dinner at the cabin for 3 of the 4 meals. Friday was grilled stuffed peppers. Saturday, was smoked pork back ribs that were like butter. Sunday was grilled pork loin steaks. This was all in the little kamado with a 14" ø cast iron grate.

You will learn to smoke ribs low and slow on your gas Weber and when you do, dinner will be amazing.

Hometown pride.

Don't pay any attention to that guy who thinks his little grill is better than Gates. :D

Do you want to explain what you Yanks reckon bbq is? Because when I hear “grill” all I think about is cheese on toast in the oven.

Thought about it, but it’s nearly $400 more for the natural gas variant. I don’t plan on using it for all of my long cooks, so LPG is fine. Tell me about these low and slow ribs.

As far as 3 burner bbqs go, this Weber is right up there cost-wise. Down here, anyway. It cost more than my smoker. I think I spent $300 Aussie dollars on my last gas bbq and it lasted 7 years which isn’t bad. This one, nearly triple that. Most Aussies don’t give a shit as long as the snags aren’t burnt lol.

I like the NG for two reasons; I never have to deal with filling a tank, and it works just fine when it's -30°C outside.

Low and slow ribs are just that. Cooked at about 225°F (107°C) for 4 to 5 hours, with some smoke until they bend about 90° when you pick the rack up in the middle. They aren't dried out and are very tender, but still have some chew to them. The ones that are boiled in foil (3-2-1 ribs) lose a bit of flavor.

But really, the best BBQ is the one that you personally like.
