I mean...

It just seems odd to me. Well, not really. But....

Get a life?

It just seems odd to me.

Ooooo, What a shot. I don't chat much. I just post here.

Most of my posts are.... well, go read them.

This is the only place I come. But I am learning there is like an underculture of chat/BB sites.

Riff, I'm not sure I understand your initial post. Do you mean that people who post to more than just Lit need to get a life, or am I misreading?

Just wondering about people who, it seems to me, have social lives that consist of chatboard interaction. This is not to say that many of us. including myself, have not been through periods where the board has been a great place to come.

Number of posts have little to do with anything. At least 25% of mine consist of "LOL."

The board hopping is something of a mystery to me.

Hey, riff, your av looks like me with tatas!

We cannot provide you with possum. Only safe places to hunt them.

Never ate it. But I have heard people- mostly old black men from the south tell me it is good if cooked properly.

Enough shallots, green pepper, and onion can make anything good.

Tobasco is for rich folks.

I prefer my boards with a nice garlic and wine sauce and a side of mashed potatoes. Other than that...I can't stomach 'em.

I post to this board and one other. They both fulfill different needs for me. The other one I've been a part of for several years. I have good, close friends on it whom I'd miss if I never checked in at all.

I have been less available to that board recently for various reasons. Primarily, the man who runs it thinks with his ego (which is inspired by his mid-life crisis experiencing penis) instead of any form of logic or even-handed application of a bunch of "rules" he refuses to post and makes up as the mood suits him to punish anyone he doesn't like at a given moment.

Ooo..sorry 'bout the vent! That just slipped out. :D

Anyway, the other board is primarily females and (surprise surprise!) it started as an offshoot of a recipe site. I can post there from work without having to hide my screen, and I like checking in periodically during the day.

Here I know I can say what I want, as long as I'm willing to accept the occassional flame. Hell, I can flame idiots here. I love knowing that I can if I so choose! I don't have to worry about bruising Mr Fragile Ego or pretending that I think he's *someone special* in order to get help if I have a technical question.

All that said, I ain't giving up my old friends for nobody. :)

Does that mean I don't have a life? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, it doesn't bother me or my family and that's what's important to me.

Well, anyway, on a serious note, I find I don't have time for other boards. It seems it would be a lot to juggle. Even though at this point I don't have work or school, I find I don't have the time or desire to spend all day on the internet, which is exactly what would happen if I expanded my personal internet community. Plus, I visited an atheist board just out of interest once, and they were really, really boring, uptight people.

A younger sibling has met nearly all of his life's romantic partners since high school in chatrooms... With usually dubious results from my end of things. On the other hand, I can never tell his girlfriends apart. They all seem like the same girl with different shades of black on...

I guess I'm too old... But online seems a poor place to seek out something so very offline oriented... ;)

At least 25% of mine consist of "LOL."
I've been on the net since 88 and this post is probably the <10th time I've typed LOL.

If I can't find something to say, I don't.

Different sites meet different needs. As a budding writer, I board and Usenet hop to get greater exposure as well as greater access to other writer's ideas and opinions.

I could never settle for just one place to burn my time in.

Hmmm... Person A lives on his/her on-line community... spends forty hours a week there, just loves it...

Person B likes several different boards, for different reasons... spends thirty hours a week altogether... just loves them...

Why should A look down his/her nose at B?

B sounds like a more interesting person to me, has more diverse interests...

Personally, I have looked at some "flipside" sites that people here frequent. (Don't ask).

Looks like the same old shit to me. :)

You go to more than one board?

Get a life! :D

I guessed I stepped on a toe?

I don't go to other sites like this one. Ay he encouragement of other people I went and looked.

Like, who cares? They might as well be the same boards.

So.... no I suppose it makes little difference if it is this one, or that one, or that one.

This one gets more traffic than the others I have seen.

being that my 'real life' is in a state of cryogenic suspension for the time being, I like it here. Haven't really bothered to check out many other boards 'cuz I am having a good time with everyone here. Once I go back to London in 2 weeks (hooray! actual sex and a social life again!) I won't be here as much, but I'll be sure to stop by from time to time. Enjoy it too much to say goodbye for good.

Any life in particular that you recommend?

(BTW - you have the sexiest AVs!)
