The Democrats had a sit in, and the Rethuglicans tried to silence them.

The Democrats try to let the truth be known.

The Rethuglicans try to silence them.

Republicans Vote To Silence Sen. Elizabeth Warren In Confirmation Debate

"She’s not throwing things, she’s not using terrible language or calling names.” Warren said during an interview with Boston Public Radio. “That was it.(reading a letter, just as the Rethuglicans had done.) For that, I got shut down by [Senate majority leader ] Mitch McConnell.”

In an apparent show of solidarity, King’s letter was read later on the senate floor by at least four colleagues: Bernie Sanders, Sherrod Brown, Jeff Merkley, and Tom Udall.

When asked why these men were allowed to read the letter, yet she was silenced, Warren said, “I don’t know. I’m just lucky, I guess!”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass, speaks on Sen. Jeff Sessions

The attorney general of the United States has two jobs,” she said. “One is to be the chief law enforcement officer... But the other part is to stand up to the president of the United States when you believe that president is acting in an illegal or unconstitutional manner... We really face the possibility that we may just have an out-of-control president. We may have a constitutional crisis here. At that moment, we have got to have an attorney general that we can depend on. That we can depend on to stand up for the equality of all people in this country, that we can count on to stand up to the president of the United States –– I don’t believe that’s Jeff Sessions.”

Congressman Cedric Redmond, a Democrat from Louisiana, blasted the Senate ruling, calling it an effort to “silence Coretta Scott King from the grave.”

“Mrs. King’s characterization of then U.S. Attorney Senator Sessions was accurate in 1986 and it is accurate now,” Redmond said in a statement. “He is as much of a friend to the Black community and civil rights as Bull Connor and the other Good Old Boys were during the Civil Rights Movement.”

Warren echoed the Louisiana congressman’s sentiments, charging that Sen. McConnell had really silenced the words of Mrs. King, not hers.

(Senator Elizabeth) Warren’s speech was part of an effort by Democrats to hold the Senate floor for 24 hours in protest of Sessions’ nomination.

The Senate was set to vote on Sessions’ confirmation Wednesday.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) also read King’s words, and demanded that McConnell apologize to Warren.

“I am going to vote against Jeff Sessions to become our next attorney general, but I am even more alarmed about the decision of the majority leader here in the Senate to deny one of our leading senators the right to voice her opinion, the right to put into the congressional record what I have just said,” Sanders said.

“And if Mr. McConnell, or anybody else, wants to deny me the right to debate Jeff Sessions’ qualifications, go for it,” he added. “But I’m here, I will participate in debate, I will oppose Jeff Sessions, and I think Sen. Warren is owed an apology.”

Don Stewart, a spokesman for McConnell, said no one objected to Udall or Brown because a point of order under Rule XIX can’t be done retroactively, and neither had preceded their reading of the letter with a a long, disparaging speech as McConnell said Warren had.

gsgs comment-

The Rethuglicans have put every trick into practice, to deny the right to vote to minorities. The effort to kill voting rights for minorities, was not enough to hide the fact that the country as a whole does not support their choice.

"Sen. Warren was giving a lengthy speech. She had appeared to violate the rule. She was warned. She was given an explanation,” McConnell said later. “Nevertheless, she persisted.”

/end gsgs comment

Speaking on the Senate floor, Warren said: “He made derogatory and racist comments that should have no place in our justice system. To put Senator Sessions in charge of the Department of Justice is an insult to African Americans.”

Warren quoted a 1986 speech from the late senator Ted Kennedy, who referred to Sessions as a “throwback to a shameful era” and a “disgrace” to the Department of Justice.

The sun was shining brightly, as President Obama opened the door to Cuba.
No one was excluded.
Free country!
Even the Extreme Right Alt was allowed
to act up in Oregon.

A larval Trump transformed continuously, and the skies grew darker with each stage completed in Trump's metamorphosis.

When it was nearly certain that Hillary Clinton would be our new President House Mother, the sun seemed to burn a hole in the fog of political war.

The sun faded, and Women, Families, Lovers, Friends, were sent to DC to protest the encroaching darkness.

Trump lied and tried to claim he was the source of light and warmth.

Darkness fell, as K street and Wall St. formed a vampire squid that now covers the United States like an umbrella.

It happened so fast!

People gather together to light candles.
All love and warmth are not lost.

The White House has the poisonous glow of Chernobyl.
Sickening tendrils of glowing radioactive fog drift through the halls of justice, peace, and honor.
Galadriel's gift from the light of Eärendil's star surrounds the Democrats standing against evil.

Sauron's great flaming eye burns at Trump Tower.
The ill will of human beings brought these horrors to America.
They desired the power of transformation.
What have they become?

Whatever label that Republicans wear, today, it is certain that they stick to Republican rules of engagement.

Rethuglicans do not play fair. Why stick to the truth, if it does not benefit them?

Jedidiah Bila takes the position as a Trump supporter, on The View.

Over the years, the show has mutated from a Pro Woman panel to a strained effort to tolerate Rethuglicans and give them a voice.

The truth is inconvenient, as one of our board wags has said.

;)

The Rethuglicans just sidestep the questions.
Why answer, when it does not benefit them?

Zzzzzzzzzzz wake me up when you're done boring everyone.

Trump has made his preferences known. The police protect his property and his family. The government is using tax player's money to provide his family with security forces. The police are getting paid.

All along Trump's path to the Oval Office, he gave support to racial profiling. Trump made a point of telling the world that our cities were filled with crime.

Trump boasted that he would be a "law and order" president. The dog whistle behind that phrase had specific meanings to the police.

He would back the police, and give the police what they wanted in exchange for their support.

Ever since property was forfeit in connection to crimes committed, the police misused the law to pump up police budgets.

"After being told by a sheriff about a policy that would require people to have been convicted of a crime before police take their assets, Mr Trump encouraged law enforcement to make the name of the politician public."

"Who is the state senator? Do you want to give his name?" Mr Trump asked during a meeting at the White House. "We'll destroy his career."

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...te-senator-destroy-career-texas-a7567936.html

Crime is increasing, Trump has said.
Trump implied more police were dying, now, in larger numbers than had ever happened, before.

The opposite was true.

"Worse than it ever has been."

Trump told his followers that crimes had increased in 2016, the worst year in 47 years.

As a matter of course, Trump was bullshitting.

The crime rates had tapered off, and was the lowest crime rate in over 30 years.

Trump, appearing with Vice President Mike Pence, Acting Attorney General Dana Boente and other officials, launched into his remarks about Chicago on Tuesday after asking the sheriffs if they had ever had a White House meeting. Some responded, "No, sir."

"And yet the murder rate in our country is the highest it's been in 47 years, right?" the president said. "Did you know that? Forty-seven years. I used to use that — I'd say that in a speech and everybody was surprised. Because the press doesn't tell it like it is. It wasn't to their advantage to say that."

Trump fulfills a pledge to police

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...ting-us-president-jeff-sessions-a7572001.html

Donald Trump has signed three executive orders to deal with “public safety”, including handing more authority to the police.

At the formal ceremony to appoint Jeff Sessions as Attorney General, the President outlined the new mandate that Mr Sessions would have, including tackling crime, drug cartels and terrorism.

Claiming to be terrified of terrorism has been good for business. The police departments have expensive, deadly, para military weapons and vehicles.

Now that Trump is POTUS, all the strength and power of the militarized police is a threat to Americans that do not agree with Trump's plans for America.

Aggression against protesters, expressed by using militarized weapons against unarmed university students taking cell phone pictures.

The UN looked at Ferguson MO in disbelief. The protesters that marched oeacefully, following MLK's example, were treated no better than the opportunistic looters.

There was no money for community outreach, but millions of dollars were available to change a town's main street into a militarized zone.

Why were the citizens protesting ? The court system, the prison system, the town, kept the town's people in debt.

The system funded itself by stealing the lives of the people that lived there.

What is wrong with this picture ?

The truth is a foreign concept to the Democrat Party, lying is the means that justifies their ends. Lying, deceit, and dishonor, are all firmly established in the DNA. Democrats lead the way when it comes to abolishing the truth.

Open your eyes! This is and always will be your citation.

My eyes see and my ears hear Democrats telling the truth usually and Republicans rarely and Trump hardly ever at all. And so do yours.

Sure. Just recall everything you saw and heard Trump do directly on live TV--no reporting required--and all of his tweets. Of course you're too much of a hypocrite to admit that you've seen, heard, and read him directly, no third-source reporting required. Of course, if you recalled all that you have personally observed, heard, and read from Trump and weren't disgusted by it, I guess the only conclusion is that you are as vile as Trump is. I'm good to go with that.

We have a pathologically dishonest sociopath in the White House.

Trump's National Security Adviser Reportedly Discussed Sanctions With Russia

February 10, 20171

In an interview this week, Flynn twice flatly denied discussing sanctions with Kislyak, the Post says. But the newspaper adds that Flynn's spokesman later gave a more nuanced response, saying that Flynn "indicated that while he had no recollection of discussing sanctions, he couldn't be certain that the topic never came up."

Tom Price pretends to commit to the "highest quality care" for each of those conditions, but of course the Republican plan promises "access to coverage," not actual "coverage."

Tom Price Confirmed As Secretary Of Health And Human Services

February 10, 2017

During his confirmation, Price was dogged by questions about investments he made in health care-related companies.

Price says he followed all congressional ethics rules, but his well-timed trades made it appear that he could have used his position to influence the price of stocks he owned, or that he received special treatment from companies in which he invested.

Trump's nominee for EPA chief is Scott Pruitt, the Oklahoma attorney general who has criticized — and repeatedly sued — the agency he's now in line to lead.

Pruitt's nomination was advanced to the full Senate last week, after Democrats on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee refused to attend meetings that were meant to hold confirmation votes on Pruitt.

Congressional Review Act, or CRA

Tsongas points out that one of the very first actions House Republicans took this year was a rule change making it easier for Congress to transfer federal lands to state and local authorities — something opposed not only by Democrats and environmental advocacy groups but Trump’s own interior secretary nominee, Ryan Zinke.

The questioning of Betsy Devos during her confirmation hearing was limited to five minutes.

It was an inappropriate appointment. No experience, no background, hopelessly uninformed.

Senator Maggie Hassan, whose adult son is severely disabled, reacted with disdain when DeVos appeared unfamiliar with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Later in the month, Hassan pressed Office of Management and Budget nominee Mick Mulvaney hard on his attitude as congressman toward government shutdowns, Planned Parenthood, and climate change.

She later announced plans to vote against both DeVos and Mulvaney. And, since late last month, she has issued a string of statements announcing her reasons for opposing one nominee after another.

Using the Pocahontas epithet just means that you're ignorant or have an obsession with 12-year-old girls.
