"Listen up marines" the commander of the USMC broke the silence in the room where the eight marines of Delta 34 were located. They had all been called in on short notice and were about the receive their mission briefing.

"As you all know we have a newly established research facility on Alpha 354, or A-354 for short. They scientist have been working some artifacts and have reported in daily. These artifacts are not believed to be of Xenomorph origin and it is also ment that these artifacts belong to a extinct species. But stay alert, we don't want to repeat the insident on LV-426 and as we still do not know the origin of these artifacts for sure i want you to stay sharp. You lot are the best of the best, that is why we are sending you, we want to make sure that facility is up and running by 48 hours from insertion."

Mumbling could be heard from the back as Glen turned to David, "And who is the best of the best? thats right buddy me" he grinned and ducked away from David teasing puch.

"Cut the chatter Jackson!" the commander snapped. "Now listen up, this is a simple walk in the park, in and out. Find out with there has been no reports from the facility, correct the problem and evac. Got it?"

The eight marines answered with "hoorah" and got up from their chairs and went to prep their gear.

"So what do you think guys? Piece of cake? It is for me, but i don't know about you guys" Glen grinned and began packing his gear.

Michelle

Michelle paused in her mental inventory and grinned back. "I'll cover your ass if you cover mine, standard deal, right? Seriously, while I hesitate to say its going to be as easy as it sounds, it sounds pretty routine."

She looked to Boom-Boom for conformation, finished her quick check and turned to Capt. Lucy. "I'm ready to rock and roll, Cap, Whenever the rest of this bunch gets their act together, I'll be there."

Mike went about his buisness in quiet, walk in the parks rarely turned out to best as easy as they should. His mind rolled over wich gear he should pack, one of the top snipers in the USMC as it was, he would hate to leave his rifle behind. Walk in the park, hm? Then no reason why i can't carry some extra load. he thought to him self as he began packing some ammo clips for both his pulse rifle and sniper rifle.

He turned to Lucy, "Hey Zero, could you check this" he turned his back to her in order for her to check if his pack was as it should be, this was standard rutine at this point, all the years these guys had prepped together, man the years had gone by quick.

He sat assembling "Clarice." the ripstop strapshanging from his shoulder ready to take the weight of the gun, He looked up at Michelle as she spoke his direction and shrugged as he rolled a thick cigar in his teeth. "Just don't forget to pack your iron Undies and you're birth control Kiddo...You know my Motto..always expect to get Fucked."

Winking at her, he stood quietly, a slight limp in his walk thanks to a titanium rod in his left shin Checking his watch, he looked at the others, Then to Banshee. walking up to her, he reached in his pocket and handed her a packet of Lozenges. "Can't have my favourite Rock star getting a sore throat yeah?" with a wink, he ducked back before she could add a broken nose to his medical record

Perta swore at him in Russian before pocketing the lonzenges. "Hey Boom, go fuck yourself." She tightend the laces of her boots and then looked around. This was going to prove interesting.

The only giveaway that she had ant surgery was the tiny scar on her throat where the ampilfire had been placed and behind her ears where her control switch for her own ears were placed, so that she didn't blow her own ear drums.

He chuckled and winked at her as he said. "It's a buddy system Red. I do it....you do it."

hoisting "Clarice" on his shoulder, he turns and movestowards the embarkation doors and waits, whistling Jerry Reed tunes softly to himself.

"It may be a cake walk, but I don't want any mistakes out there."

She had only been assigned to this squad three years ago after her training, but they were almost like a family...at least in her mind. She had gotten her equipment together, a few extra clips for the pulse rifle and the pistol. When Mike asked her to check his pack, she stood up from lacing up her boots to give him a quick check.

"Looks good Sarge."

She turned to Michelle to check her pack and gave her a pat on the shoulder. She grabbed the belt for a smart gun, slining it over her shoulder and then shouldered one.

"As it seems everyone is ready, it's time to roll out boys and girls."

She looked at each in turn, giving a smile and then walked over to join David at the door.

"So who is our pilot today? Some new rookie?" Mike had turned to their commander who stood in the door to the prepping room. "Kind of a rookie, never seen any action before but his "training" has prepared him for everything you may encounter"

Mike raised a brow "What do you mean by "training", sir?". The commander seemed to be looking for a way to avoid the question, Mike looked at him and took a few steps towards him, "Sir?". Not seeing anyway to avoid the question, the commander sighed, "Your pilot on this mission will be the new NX-34 model android, the are said to be the most reliable danroid ever made and his programming is highly sofisticated"

Mike looked disgruntled, "An android?! sir, you've got to be kidding!" he looked around to the others, obviously not happy with an android flying their ship.

Michelle

"Mike, take a deep breath, now let it out. If you start hyperventalting before we even get anywhere, you're going to have a hell of a day. I'm sure its fine, androids have much better reflexes and fine control than humans." She went to wait at the doors with the others.

Mike didn't want to start a huge argument with the other over this matter and simply frowned and turned his back, beginning to walk towards the ship.

Maria tried to contain her excitement as she listened to the briefing. Alien artifacts! Maybe she'd actually find an alien to communicate with.

The joke at the language school was that the only sound aliens ever made was a gurgle after being shot to pieces by the Marines. Which she was trained to do, having gone through the Advanced Infantry School, but Maria had high hopes for one day communicating with an alien species.

"And who is the best of the best? thats right buddy, me."

Maria groaned at 'Shade's' usual boasting and gave him a hard shove between the shoulder blades, which only helped him avoid the punch thrown by Lawson.

"Yeah, Glen," she said, "the best can-opener in the Corps, that's you."

"You all are children you know that?" Petra said with a soft laugh as she slung her pack on and put her flax gun inher leg holster. Walking over she leaned against the wall by the door.

"Come on Boom, the only one who's gonna be doin any fuckin' is us! Nobody fucks the Colonial Marines."

Glen held up his hand as Boom walked by to receive the customary testosterone filled high-five. He packed up his portable info screen, bypass circuitry, and tools. Six clips for his 1911, plenty of extra ammo, ten for his pulse rifle.

"You know these research colonies man, nerdy scientists bring the whole damn family along for the ride, so I'd guess what, 50, 60 fresh peaches down there for us to pluck?"

Glen grinned as put his pack aside and began strapping on his combat gear, leg plates, chest plate, shoulder pads, mounted flood light, holster. He slung his pack, pulling his helmet half-on.

"They might as well send us on vacation, ya'll aren't scared of the big, bad alien artifacts are ya?"

Heading towards the hangar, still whistling, he looked at the ship and shook his head. "Always hated this part...if the man upstairs had wanted me to fly he wouldn't have made me certifiable."

Climbing into the ship, He dropped into the gunner's seat at the door and waited

The APC was waiting in the hangar. Standard procedure, the dropship hits the deck, unloads the APC and dusts off.

"Here comes the fun part, ladies."

Glen slid open the door to the APC and held it, waiting for everyone to board.

Michelle

"Glen, lets keep the kidlings safe before we start in on the statutory arrests, okay?"

Michelle slid into the APC and took her seat far from the door. She stayed quiet for drops, never becoming comfortable with the sensations and spending most ofthe time with her eyes closed, pressing her head against the seat pad and forcing herself not to white knuckle the grab bar. Checking an intestine for shrapnel while getting hit with mortars? No problem, falling? Not her thing.

Petra took her seat away from the window, didn't want to be shattering that while in obit. She sat back and shut her hearing off. intent on getting sleep before they landed again.

She was used to being the oddball and ofr the most part ignored until she was needed and that was fine with her.

Maria tucked her dark brown ponytail into her helmet as the filed onto the armored vehicle. She liked to keep her hair shoulder length, because she had been featured in the Girls of the Marine Corps swimsuit calendar put out by Maxim each of the last two years. This year she hoped to win the coveted front page, and had even considered surgury to increase her 36C bust, but hadn't wanted to miss any action during the recovery period.

"Here comes the fun part, ladies," said Corporal Jackson, holding the heavy door open.

"Promises, promises," she said to Glen with an exaggerated sigh. Inside, she stowed her rifle, and sat down next to Michelle, the Lieutenant, nodding at the corpsman. Maria adjusted the belt for her sidearm, to keep it from digging into her belly. It was a gift from her father, a vintage Sig Sauer .40 automatic, that her father had used when he had served in the Special Forces.

"Don't want my little girl carrying that pussy Marine .45," he had told her. The double-stacked grip was a too big for her hands, but she wouldn't consider trading it for the world.

Lucy surpressed the urge to laugh at the bantering among her squad.

"Settle down boys. You'll get plenty of chances to have your picky of ladies later. Concetrate on the mission first."

She reached up and brushed away a few red strands from her blue eyes before following into the APC last. She stowed her gear in one of the mini-lockers near the forward observation seat and then straps herself in. She locks the seat back into position for the drop and smiles to her squad before closing her eyes as well.

Watching the others, he drummed his fingers on his knee quietly. Clarice resting on the top of his pack within easy reach, he let his head rest on the thing and closed his eyes

Private Glover, one of the newest marines to join the squad, had climbed into the APC fairly early, having been silently chewing on some gum prepping his gear. Unlike the rest of the squad, his gear had absolutly no personalisaation, except for his ID badge. Glover, D G. Everyone just called him Grunt.

"Best not waste all yer breath. Way I hear it, if these things are like what was on that other colony, yer gonna need it teh scream"

Opening one eye, he looked at Danny and said. "Grunt...Screaming's a waste of time...anything worth screaming at is just as worthy of being shot at..plus...you feel better and it's more productive."

That said he closed his eyes again

Petra had opened her hearing back up hearing Boom's words. "And what about me, hmmm? Last time I checked my screaming served a purpose. I also remember someone avoiding an ass beating because of it."

He chuckles and keeps his eyes closed. "You're special...most people's screaming isn't registered as weaponry."

"True, just like your body ordor could be classified as such." Lookign around she realized it was gonna be a full load. This would be interesting. Rubbing the pentacle tattooed on the palm of her hand she prayed silently they all came out of it alive.
