I do wonder how well such birds do against the usual colored ones in getting a mate. Whether they'd liked naturally or not, however, I suspect the more folk see of them, the more will be bred for sale and display. They are striking.

I hate to be picky and the term has been misused so much that it is now accepted. However, you can't have a female peacock. The male of the peafowl is a peacock, the female is a peahen.
