I've lost track. Is this the time when Thor starts linking bear/people stories, or does that happen later in the year?

I've got one-- just finished "Ordinary Wolves". Great read about being raised white in an Inuit community.

The word 'eskimo' has almost a pejorative meaning in Canada now. Inuit is the term used.

Would appear it is not. But is not quite descriptive of the people who inhabit arctic Canada. Wiki says the Alaskan natives do not call themselves Inuit.

Eskimo seems to refer to all the different tribes and cultures of the arctic except the Aleut.

We just use different terms...

I've long-since parked my "attitude" on American usage, in the US. Ask an Alaskan what he or she wishes to be called...

Just my native-born Canuckistani opinion, eh? ;)

Once upon a time where I come from that would have been called a very colonial opinion. :)

The Sami and Nenets might disagree.

Correct. My bad.

The Eskimo are the indigenous peoples who have traditionally inhabited the northern circumpolar region from eastern Siberia (Russia), across Alaska (United States), Canada, and Greenland.

I asked an Inuit/Eskimo what he preferred to be called. He told me "Dave" worked just fine.

A few nights back I was rubbing my nose against the bride's clitoris when she asked what I was doing.
So I told her "Eskimo cunnilingus."

I'm just off from a phone call from Felix, in Barrow or Utqiaġvik as it is now called by the progressives who require some connection to the old ways.

:)

You DO know me.

I will relate my favorite Jeff-ism:

"When God made the arse, he didn't say, 'Hey, it's just your basic hinge, let's knock off early.' He said, 'Behold ye angels, I have created the arse. Throughout the ages to come, men and women shall grab hold of these, and shout my name.'"
