The UK skier has had his bronze skiing medal taken off him because of a banned substance.

Was he a doping cheat or just plain dopey?

IMHO he was a complete idiot - not checking over the counter medicine in a foreign country!

Also, part of me is quite spitefully glad.

This is an man who has been spending UK tax payers (or lottery) money gadding around the slopes of the world and represents the UK team in the Olympics (again funded by UK taxpayers). But when he wins his medal is he from the UK, ooohh noo - now he purely Scottish - even to the extent of attempting to colour his hair for the ceremony with the Salt & Pepper (Scottish Flag - for our American readers).

A case of biting the hand that feeds I think - so tough shit!!!

And you shouldn't demean his achievement.

The stupid thing is that even the IOC concede that the metamphetamine contained in his nasal spray could not have enhanced hi sperformance.

Let them all take whatever drugs they want then everyone will be competeing on a level playing field.

Van - I am not criticising his achievement - the best ever by a Scottish skier, sorry Uk Skier - but you got to be crazy (or Scottish) to take any medication that haven't been checked over by the team doctor.

Having had his vicks inhaler cleared in the UK I don't think it was that stupid to make the assumption that the one in the US would be the same. Naive maybe but not stupid.

This guy is a professional athlete so as far as I make it he should have known to get any medications he wanted to use checked out first. He knew the rules.

Yes he should have checked his medication out.

As I said earlier the whole Olympic doping issue is a cluster-fuck and needs to be looked at. It just plain doesn't work.
