Safe as I'll ever be and no rain in sight until tonight when, according to my weather app, isolated thunderstorms and another flash flood warning.

A little story about my commute to Jersey Village on Tuesday morning. After being forced off of the flooded parking lot called I 10, I ran into flooded interstate after flooded interstate. 45, 59 and 290 all flooded. After following a small caravan going the wrong way on 59 I manage to get into downtown. As I began to pick my way north and west hoping to get on a feeder I come across several flooded streets.

I finally find an unflooded street and head north. As I was crossing what I thought was a bridge, I see water maybe 6 inches lower than the surface of the street. I look downstream and see signs sticking up out of the water. I glance at my gps and see I am crossing Memorial Drive.

45 minutes and countless side streets later, I arrive at work half an hour late to join the dozen that made it in sweeping the water that covered the shop floor. 154,000 square feet of shop covered in an inch plus of water.

A sprinkle this morning, no big deal. No lightning or thunder. Sad news from all around the city.

First half of the day today wasn't bad. A few hit or miss sprinkles but now North Houston is getting hammered again. So far only rumbles across the lake for me but it's getting darker and darker.
I worked out in the shop most of the day but about an hour ago the wind dropped and the mosquitoes came out in swarms.

Now I'm inside doing *gasp* housework.

Round of thunderstorms just passed through here. Loudness, wetness, no power outages, flash flood warning thought. Now it's wait and see where the river rises.

Saw on the news that they are evacuating folk in Rosenberg and south of the Brazos. Warnings for folk along the San Jac as well.

I hate to say it but here we go again.

That storm in the gulf is fixin' to unload on us for the next three days. They're talking like 3 to 8 inches with the possibilities of a foot or more in places.

I'm glad I've got the boat all gassed up and ready.

God, I hope we don't get much storm and rain here, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well that storm in the gulf is now a Tropical Storm named Bill. Yea! High winds and rain due in the morning. Everyone stay safe.
