So I noticed a few of us are starting/continuing studies soon, so I thought I'd form a collective for those of us hitting the books.

I'm doing my first Open University module at the moment for my Economics, Politics and Philosophy Degree. Its actually only half a module, as I'm under strict instructions to take things easy stress wise hehe. Have one more assignment due, then a timed essay which I am NOT looking forward to!

How are your studies/plans for studies going?

Not in college, but today I completed a class. I'm now an authorized 1st Aid-CPR-AED instructor. :)

Just finished the second open university course for my web development certificate. All i can do is hope it went okay. I'm on a break now till May when I start the third class. Then there will be 3 more after that.

Good luck with the class hon:kiss::rose:

<sigh> I'd love to go back to school. DD is in her sophomore year and I keep peeking at the course catalog and finding stuff I'd love to learn. I could really use a genuine music theory course, for example, and I'd love to learn Arabic.

In my M.A Communications course here. School starts on Monday. *cries*

*soothing hug* I have an assignment due tuesday. I keep looking at my draft, ripping it apart and starting again. Running out of paper here!

I want to go back to school, but I can't afford to right now :(

Can I still poke my head in every once in a while?

Halfway through my second year studying Food and Nutrition and/or Public Health. (I may switch, or get the MS in public health.) I love it. School starts Monday for me too but I'm actually thrilled. So if I'm not around, like, ever - it's because I'm working full-time and going to school full-time at night.

-hugs- Sure hun

Hmmmm will be dropping my transfer student application to PSU for their global campus shortly...oi...

I just finished my M.A. but I'd like to study Spanish. Wouldn't yaknow it... I took FRENCH in college and now I'm finding I should have taken Spanish. It sure would help here in the Southwest.

Me too (in January) - and your post just made me realize - this will be the first September since 2001 when I didn't have the prospect of weekly two-hour winter drives to class before me, or a thesis hanging over my head. Thanks for the reminder! :rose:

All my life I wanted to do something with animals. I really wanted to be a zookeeper, but my parents didn't like the idea, spouting that I wouldn't make any money doing that. Dad wanted me in business, and mom wanted me doing something in legal feild.

So I completed a degree for office management and got a dual degree as a paralegal essentially. They were both easy boring degrees and over lapped in classes so I graduated at the same time with both.

My parents, both sated, shut up. I did exceedingly well in all my classes, and passed with flying colors, and everything came easy to me.

I had a few jobs in the legal and office feild and I hate it. God I hate it all so terribly bad. It was SO DAMNED BORING. And then day in and day out, I hear people who want to sue someone over a damned broken fingernail. COME ON!!!

After my recent brush with death, I said that if I got through it, I would do something I love instead of what I was currently doing. Life is short, why hate it.

SO I decided to persue my life long dream of being a zookeeper. Now my parents agree that it's better to be happy and poor than rich and miserable. (no I never got rich in my profession).

At the prompting and encouragement of my current boyfriend, I have enrolled in College again. This time I am going for a biology degree (which the local zoo requires for the job I want) and away I go.

It's been a total pain in the ass trying to get back in school. I have been ran around 5 million ways to sunday.

Including them throwing out ALL of my A's from my previous degrees because they don't "apply" to my current program (you BASTARDS), a lovely round circle with the fact I can't take biology courses til I take a chem course, I can't take the chem course til I have the right math course, and I can't take THAT course until I get a previous math in!!! *gasps for air.

Also, I can't register for ANY english course, INCLUDING creative writing or literature (AHAHAHAHAHA you're kidding right? right? UGH) until I finish english 102. And all the fluff courses are filled, so I had to grab some random crap out of a hat so I could have a full semester so financial aid will cover me (ARGH)

AND the dean apparently wrote a book, so ALLLLLL of the students are REQUIRED to read it, and meet on it. (man I need to write a book for a college...)

But after much much stress, here's what I got:

Math 105 - pre-calculus
English 102
Geology 101 (shrugs, I like rocks!)
sociology 100 (blaaaah)

All of which are monday wednesday (man I'm goood).

Math I was worried about, but turns out he's a nice guy and most of my class is an on-line class (cheer)

My english teacher I was REALLY worried about because I have NEVER in the history of EVER gotten along with an english teacher. But she's actually a pretty nice lady.

Geology is in the same class room my mom had a major seizure in during a test (omen?)

and sociology is taught by a guy with a really thick accent. I'm going to have to sit really close to follow him. But hey he seems pretty decent.

So there. I'm a college student all over again o.o

help meeee

Not in college, but today I completed a class. I'm now an authorized 1st Aid-CPR-AED instructor. :)

Kinda got tickled here ( and not just by your AV....whoohoo!)

A couple of years ago, I got recertified in CPR and Certified for AED for military installations. While going through the initial training we had to work with the "dummy." So, I went through the manuevers and and just before engaging the device...I said... "Hey! I'm gonna got the shit shocked out of me."

The instructor took on a condesending attitude and began 'splainin that that couldn't happen.

I informed him he was WRONG!

I worked in a facility that had conductive floors and we all wore conductive shoes. (ya know...explosives don't like static electricity:rolleyes:)

Anyways...seems I was the first person to realize this little issue. Much drama and paper work followed....

Still teaching writing classes for the University of California. It's bucks and I have some very good students at the moment.

just finished my MSc and teaching qualification. Starting to get a PhD lined up for next year hopefully. I like being a student :D

Jen, you can be the offical mascot and cheerleader if you like :)

Galaxy - my current module is Sociology based, and I've done a lot of Sociology in previous edu stuff so if you need someone to talk theory with (or whine about idiotic theories with) just give me a yell :)

Just completed my Psych BSc.

About to go onto my Graduate Certificate in Counselling Psychology :)

After that i'm hoping to get on to the MSc/ PhD combined course :)

I finished a big project today, hooray! Now I only have 2 more lab assignments (well, 3, if you count that one of them is in two parts) left in THAT class, and then I'll be getting my grade in that subject (web programming). Then I only have one lab assignment I have to retake in my Flash programming course, 2 in my UNIX-class, an exam in UNIX, one Java-programming project, one Java lab assignment, one J a v a S c r i p t programming project, one php/database Internet Forum project, and then I'll be ready to start the new semester this fall.:)

Ooh! That works, I've still got a cheerleading uniform in my closet I'd like to dress up in again. :D

i am finally almost done with university - only one more oral exam, and then my thesis (or whatever you'd call it, like the paper with which i finish my studies)...

Open University Rules!

Another OU student here! Just waiting to start my last course for an open BA. None of this formal stuff for me, I've been cherry-picking courses I wanted to do, for fun. It's my BSc that gets the shekels in, so it's been English language, and creative writing towards the BA.

Level 3 Advanced Creative Writing starts October. A bit of emphasis on drama this time (film/TV/radio/stage) and application of some of the techniques to fiction. Should be fun.

Alex, good to see you, old chap!

Those gizmos are way cool, though. And largely idiot-proof.
