The AH strikes me as a clique. Go back to high school, junior high even, and then look here to the AH. Little groups are formed. And it seems to me that there are people favored and placed on a pedestal. And those who are weaker, they are ignored by others.

Is this really the atmosphere of the AH? Is this how it really should be?

It's not so much a clique as people who share some of the same things sharing ideas, stories, jokes and parts of themselves.

No one is denied the right to speak or post or anything else of that matter.

I just counted 44 different poster names on the front home page alone.........I don't see 44 people as a clique.

I have never seen anyone turned away, everyone who turns up is welcomed, there's even a newbie thread, specifically for new arrivals who want to ease their way in gradually.

I'm really sorry, Trinique, if you see it that way, because it really isn't.

Some of the posters have been in the AH for a long time, and that kind of gives them the air of elder statesmen and women.

Also, there are times of the day, when only certain people are around, purely due to time zones, and personal commitments. Getting the kids to school, going to work, picking the kids up, dinner, lunch, bed time.

Also, don't forget, that over time, a lot of these people have become real friends in the true sense of the word, and therefore are very comfortable with each other.

Its really a lovely place to come and spout off about almost anything.

Give it a try.

This discussion has been voiced before and will be voiced again. If it is to change, and change it does, it can only be changed by participating. The risk is that by participating in the discussions you run the risk of being absorbed by a clique who find your views interesting, and possibly ignored by those who do not.

What you describe is a function of group dynamics in any situation. We are not immune.

TF...maybe it's a clique, but it isn't all bad. Any group of friends could be defined as a clique, but that doesn't make it a bad thing. I might have my bad...no, make that horrible days (like today) when I'm in a really bad rage, but I still love my friends on the AH. We're a group of friends...maybe you'll become one of us, maybe you'll become part of another. But don't knock it til you try it.

I disagree, Trinique. No in-crowd or clique would ever touch me with a 30ft pole! Yes, it's difficult when you start out, but isn't it the same anywhere? It takes time. I found the AH crowd very welcoming, but no one was falling over backwards to respond to each and every one of my posts the second they were put up. People need to get to know you first... which is kind of difficult when you post under another name... but be patient. It's really worth the wait.

Trinique, there's something to what you say. OTOH, there are points NOT analogous to high school. You may post whatever you like, wherever you like. Nothing can be removed that fits literotica basic rules.

You and friends can establish threads in AH and yak to each other. Among the more active participants, are always some 'non aligned' who'll participate in anything that intrigues them. (You may have to make do without lots of bouquets, hearts, and kisses, except from those who hold you dear.)

It's true that, like the noses held high in hs, some may post, "This thread is sooooo uncool." But there's nothing stopping you from posting your own choice adjectives to anyone else's (or a clique person's) thread.

Become the proverbial 'duck's back' or 'rhinocerous hide' and do what you please.

I suppose there might be some truth to the appearance of cliqueishness at first pass, and I did have similar feelings when I first started lurking around here and had not posted, but was made to feel quite welcome in short order.

Sure there are favorites, but those happen in any group and we appreciate not only those with writing skills but also a quick wit, well reasoned thought, insightfullness, or even just a big heart or a smashing AV.

So strip down and hop in the pool, the water is...well... at least cleaned most nights of the week.
