Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I'm there tomorrow.

;)

A bit more on topic . . . how great has the last five episodes of AoS been? Pretty intense.

For a second I thought that was May in that fight scene. It was fantastic.

Great flick. I liked the first one better, but this is still worthy of the name.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Adds Martin Freeman

BY ADAM CHITWOOD

Well now both Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are part of the MCU. Marvel announced today that Sherlock and The Hobbit star Martin Freeman has joined the bursting-at-the-seams cast of Captain America: Civil War. Directed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier helmers Joe and Anthony Russo, Civil War is technically a Captain America movie, but it’s becoming harder to believe it’s not actually The Avengers 2.5.

Marvel doesn’t specify what character Freeman is playing, but as of now the lineup for Civil War includes Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), as well as Chadwick Boseman’s debut appearance as Black Panther, Daniel Bruhl as the villainous Baron von Zemo, and the new Spider-Man who has yet to be cast.

That is a massive ensemble, so it’ll be interesting to see how/if the Russos are able to deliver a character-driven Cap movie while juggling all these faces, both new and old, and also setting up Avengers: Infinity War, which they’ll also direct.

Freeman’s an impeccably talented actor who’s shown a swell ability to handle both humor and emotionally poignant moments, so he’s a welcomed addition to the MCU. He’s also quite versatile, seamlessly moving from major franchise fare like The Hobbit to character-driven comedies like The World’s End , and even back to the small screen for FX’s Fargo. The cast for Civil War is so gargantuan, though, that I hope he gets his due time to shine, or is at least set up for a larger role in MCU movies down the line. Perhaps he’ll cross paths with his Sherlock co-star Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange?

On another note, it’s incredibly impressive that Freeman was cast in the film without any of the trades catching wind of it. These days, we usually hear about negotiations and such well before the confirmation comes down, but the first we heard of Freeman’s casting was from Marvel itself. Production on Civil War is currently underway in Atlanta in anticipation of a May 6, 2016 release date.

If I didn't need more of an excuse to nut over this joint...:D

Y'all realize we are virtually getting Avengers-canon supe hero popcorn flicks every year from now until your firstborn is graduating high school, right?

I can't even. The fanboy singularity has been achieved. :D

Sleepy Hollow - I like it. Campy and silly, but entertaining.

Person of Interest - one of my favs that I always watch.

Blacklist - another fav that I always try to catch.

I've never heard of the op show. It must be on a channel I don't get.

Walking Dead is probably my favorite show, although I tend to watch sports unless I remember a show I like is on.

Revolution is good too.

U missed game of thrones one of the best shows on tv. As to agents of shield I think its not bad. And as mentioned good eye candy.

In fairness the Marvel Universe has a lot of that going on. I mean the Fantastic Four, Spiderman and Avengers are all out of New York. And the X-Men are usually credited as being nearish New York and nobody ever helps in other people's problem.

Ugh, I hate two hour season finales! They always fuck with my DVR. I better go double check before I forget to make sure nothing is overlapping that I hadn't counted on. Like when the fuck is Penny Dreadful. . .

I get that Jayaina was a bit crazy (mostly amoral but a bit crazy) by the end there but did she really not see the obvious flaw in killing 99.99% of the Agents but giving the rest fucking super powers? Cus honestly I think had her plan made it step two she'd better hope like hell that the Agents who are already better trained fighters on the whole than her Inhumans all get crappy powers like hers or Raina. I mean teleporting Mai? Multiple Man Ward? Electroshooting Mac? Fast Healing Mocking Bird? And don't get me started on if one of them gets that I control you and can feel your pain bullshit. I almost feel she got lucky by dying before the inevitable mutiny jumped out and destroyed her whole world.

Also I'm unsure why an Inhuman Squad would need to remain covert. I don't think Hulk's origins are actually a matter of public knowledge and even if they were with the Inhumans you just twist the truth a tad. These people were exposed to blah blah radiation from an unknown alien artifact. It's close enough to the truth to fly pretty damn far and they aren't going to be able to remain but so covert for so long.

I suppose Skye Mama's master plan was still a crapshoot, given that the Terrigen Crystals are lethal to most of humanity, but now I guess everybody in the world's gonna find out what's up when they eat a Filet-O-Fish for lunch. :D

Still...what a ride this season was. The way it started and the way it ended was night and day. And it started off good and kept dialing it up. The way key members were getting nilled. I mean, I had money on Lucy Lawless' character coming back after getting bumped in the first ep, but Whedon gonna Whedon.

Is Coulson gonna go all Luke Skywalker and get a bionic hand? You know whatever bio tech they patched Hawkeye up with in Ultron gives them no excuse on letting him have only one good arm to drive with.

Skye has control of her powers and is a Junior Melinda May. And May finally can smile again.

Was nice what they did for Crazy Cal in the end.

Saw that shit coming with Agent 66. She was a bit of a batcase after the Hydra mind washing and the permanent masking. Was good how they had her bite it in the end.

Ward is head Hydra dude now? How does that work?

Raina's precog powers were a good asset, but I didn't understand why she had to die. Plus, even in makeup, Ruth Negga is just way too fine, they shouldn'ta done that. :D

I knew Mac wasn't just gonna leave like that. Will be interesting to see how Lance and Mockingbird play out. Looks like Civil War will be the main movie tie-in for Season 3. Inhumans isn't until 2019, so they've got a lot of time and room to stretch that plot arc out.

I just want Simmons to be okay. I was not prepared for that. You shoulda seent my ass at the bar last night, I was like, NOOOOOOOOOO GOTTTDAAAAMN IT!!!! :D

Word on the street is that Selma director Ava DuVernay is being courted to either direct Black Panther or Captain Marvel. Just hearsay at this point, but either way, seeing what she would do with a Marvel joint would be amazing.
